  1. I'd call it being the last club he was with before signing for us, so aye, I'll charge on. Yes, I don't have a problem with us not signing a new striker. Reilly is a proven goalscorer at this level. John Sutton is also a proven goalscorer at this level. Billy Mehmet has never proven that he can score goals regularly in Scotland. Reilly didn't get a regular game with Dunfermline because he got injured early on and when he came back they had signed a new striker and their form had picked up. For someone who has a bee in the bonnet about personal abuse its a shame that you have resorted to personal abuse directed at one of our own players. Stay classy bud.
  2. So, you are in fact confirming that the last club he was with before signing for us was Hearts? Yeah, close! Reilly is only 24, so I'd say that there is a decent chance that he get back to the form he produced over TWO seasons at this very level. As you are well aware, most of Reilly's appearances last season were as a sub. However still managed to score TWICE as many goals as Mehmet managed at this level with us! While you would rather hope that a 31 year old can get back to the form he produced 7 years ago? And even then he was hardly what you could call a regular goalscorer. Also worth bearing in mind that we still have Sutton... a striker you fawn all over.
  3. But we have actually signed Reilly from Hearts, who are have just finished 5th in the top flight and are Scotland's 3rd biggest club. Reilly finished 4th top scorer in this very division in season 14/15, in a league that contained Hearts, Rangers & Hibs. He scored more goals than any Hearts or Rangers player. Unlike Billy Mehmet when he signed for us, Gavin Reilly is a PROVEN goalscorer at this level. That is a fact. Yes, he didn't do so well last season... but Mehmet didn't do very well with us in this division either....
  4. On the basis that we generally play with just 1 out and out striker, I think having 3 on the books means we are probably well covered!
  5. The expert witness was the Police Authority forensic toxicologist! Looks like the police did the work for him for free!
  6. By my reading, it just shows how little you need to drink to put yourself over the limit. He was more than twice the legal driving limit yet, according to the expert witness, discounting the mouthful of whiskey that he claimed to drink when he got home, he may have been under the limit when driving!
  7. I have memories of us beating Kilmarnock 6-1 at Rugby Park in 80/81 Can remember us putting 5 past Dundee at Dens Park at least once, maybe twice We beat Celtic 4-2 at Love Street in early 80s. We were 2-0 down after 20 mins and 3-2 up by half time. Same week, I think, we beat Dundee United, then reigning champions, 4-0. Think we also beat Rangers 3-0 a couple of weeks before that as well.
  8. 78 goals in 209 appearances with Motherwell is pretty decent as well
  9. The stats on Mehmet's wiki page are totally made up. The stmirren.info site is more reliable. Mehmet 39 goals in 141 starts and 51 sub appearances Sutton 30 goals in 66 starts and 9 sub appearances
  10. Billy Mehmet wasn't good enough for Dunfermline either when we signed him....
  11. He probably confused you both due to the similar posting styles, ie irrelevant and boring.
  12. TC's point is that these teams finished below the position we aspire to finish in next season. Therefore if these players aren't good enough for those teams then they won't be good enough to help us finish in that aspirational position next season. I don't agree with his opinion. However, his point isn't that difficult to grasp....
  13. Gary Mackenzie isn't replacing Davis however. The real question is, is Buchanan a good enough replacement for Davis? IMO, I don't think he will be as good... but I believe he will prove to be pretty decent. As for Loy being "easily replaceable", IMO, as I've said in a few posts, I believe that Reilly will hopefully prove to be that replacement. We have lost our best attacker, main striker and arguably our best defender. Can we overcome that? I believe we can.
  14. Is McGinn better centre half than Davis? Is he a better striker than Loy?
  15. Okay, I'll put it another way. Davis was the best defender, Mallan was the best attacker and Loy was the main striker. None are still there. However, my earlier post gave reasons why I am confident we can overcome this.
  16. The 3 best players were arguably Mallan, Davis & Loy. IMO, we'd have wrapped up safety earlier had Davis not got injured. He's been replaced by Buchanan. I'm sure he'll be a decent enough player at this level. Not in the same class as Davis but probably better than Baird. Reilly may be a decent replacement for Loy. Mallan hasn't been replaced. Crucially, he was THE best player, scored the most goals, had the most assists. The best hope there is that guys like Smith, Morgan, McGinn and Kirkpatrick step up and between them, can fill the gap of Mallan leaving
  17. A bit like Roy first time around then....
  18. If this is Dundee United's standard these days, I see no reason why we can't win the league.
  19. The SNP are a single issue party. The ONLY issue they are dealing with is trying to engineer a referendum! The SNP have pretended put it on the backburner because of the catastrophic losses they suffered in the GE as a result of calling for a second referendum! A GE which saw them receive a much smaller share of the vote in Scotland than the Tories did in the UK! A GE which them receive no bigger a share of the electorate than Thatcher did in Scotland in 1979! A GE which saw them receive less votes than Leave did in Scotland!
  20. Can't let it go because Nicola has called for a second referendum!
