  1. Totally agree. In addition, you could replace the words "Leave", "Brexit" and "the UK" with "Yes", "Independence" and "Scotland"....
  2. Obviously!.... Hang on though.... I haven't got a season ticket!
  3. season ticket holder or not, the only people who would go to a st mirren open day are weirdos folk like pozbaird
  4. I've heard that you like reacharounds
  5. Not getting a place to hold down and not being able to hold down a place.... its the same thing! How do you know it wasn't his fault that he didn't get a place to hold down? He didn't get a place to hold down at Dunfermline the season before in a lower division, he failed to set heather on fire at Carlisle and Dundee offloaded him last season. With regards to your last sentence, can you provide an example? Which players did the then manager not give a chance to who then subsequently proved him wrong? Someone who did a Mooy? Not sure I can think of anyone! He signed Graham Carey at the same time and he played and scored goals in that run in.
  6. But that was exactly my point.... Maybe Hardie would have done the same under Jack Ross?
  7. Ethan has been with the club since he was 4. He really truly has come all the way through the academy. Maybe he is will be the one who delivers the big pay day. If he is the star of the future, hopefully we will get to see enough of him in the first team before he goes. I will eat my words and offer sincere apologies if so....
  8. You say in your first statement that its a bit unfair that he couldn't hold down a starting place and then in your second sentence goon to confirm that he couldn't hold down a starting place! He was on loan at Dunfermline before us as well and couldn't get a regular game. He then went down to Carlisle and failed to make the grade there. He's so far scored 21 goals in 63 appearances, many of them as a sub. He's still only 20. Just like Rory Loy, I think its a bit too early to write him off. Indeed, many on this forum were slagging off Stevie Mallan at the half way stage this season. IIRC, Top Cat was his Mallan's main champion and he got a lot of abuse for that....
  9. Maybe But, back in the day, Rory Loy was once a Rangers youngster who couldn't hold down a starting place for either Dunfermline or St. Mirren....
  10. As I mentioned, Loy was playing for a side on the up and Hardie was playing for a side in free fall. In effect, Loy was playing for a top 3 side and Hardie was playing for a side marooned at the bottom. Therefore I think the description of "far more successful", in terms of the goalscoring comparison, is a tad over the top. The previous season Hardie scored 6 in 10 league games with Raith. Better than Loy managed with St. Mirren. My point here being that I think folk are being a tad hard on Hardie. If Loy had been with us in the first half and Hardie in the second half, I reckon we'd all be talking about how shite Loy was and how great Hardie was. The shite manager and shite team mates that Hardie had in the first half of the season maybe hindered him?
  11. If it was of no interest to you then you wouldn't have written such a lengthy reply.
  12. Hardie scored more goals for Raith Rovers in the second half of the season than Loy did for St. Mirren. This despite the fact that St. Mirren were on the up and Raith were in free fall. HTH
  13. Yeh, getting other clubs cast offs has indeed worked well. But the "academy" itself hasn't worked.
  14. The youth system under Longwell was a complete and utter disaster. You do realise that Flanagan was signed from Hearts? He didn't come through our "academy" at all. Longwell's "academy" amounted of waiting to see which cast offs from the Old Firm he could sign every season.
  15. Gavin Reilly is better than both of them
  16. Football attendances in Scotland since the start of the SPL have been at a post 1950s high. As I mentioned earlier, higher than they were in the late 60s and early 80s when Scottish club were a force in European football.
  17. Maybe Kyle Hutton will emerge as a £10 million star in the future then?....
  18. Dismemberment whilst already dead is a quality punishment!
  19. On the subject of Mooy, the fact is that Bolton released him as well and no-one else in the UK appeared to be interesting in taking him after he left either Bolton or St. Mirren. You could actually argue that Danny Lennon is a genius cos he is the manager of who most recognised his obvious £10 million potential!
  20. Good point. I read that line as it were true!
  21. We don't seem to have a genuine defensive holding midfielder so not surprised by this.
  22. Football attendances in general have gone up as live TV coverage has increased. That doesn't mean there is a correlation however.... Maybe attendances would be even higher if there was no live TV coverage??
  23. Ah, right. Got the wrong end of your point! In that case, at least Loy has gone on to become a relatively successful professional. So much so that many on this forum are desperate for him to sign. Which "chaff" did he displace who has subsequently went on to do that? I seem to remember a lad called Burns getting a run out as a sub late in a game and he made one half decent run and cross which subsequently had many on this forum hailing him as the next Messi. There was then an almightly meltdown when he was back being used as a ballboy the following week!
