  1. Two scenarios: 1) We get 4 points from our last two games, Hibs get 0 points or 1 point from their two games, and we finish fifth. 2) We get three points from the two games, Hibs get 1 point from their games, and we lose out on fifth by goal difference. Hope I've got the calculations right there. Buddies supporters of many years, like myself, will know which scenario is more likely, but Oh how we'd love to see the old Paisley pattern broken in the next few days, and see the club take a huge step in its current development by getting fifth place. So....... COYS!!
  2. Not to take the shine off a great performance today, but the points we gave up to Motherwell, St. Johnstone and Killie (where are they now?) have cost us dear. Wins in those games would have put us right in the mix for 3rd place. That's the inconsistency that needs to be fixed if we are to do even better next season. But we need to take small steps to reach the heights, so........ COYS!!
  3. Can Main be persuaded to sign on for next season? He should realise that he plays best when managed by SR.
  4. Was talking about her ability as a presenter/pundit, not her appearance, Renfrew.
  5. Despite Macintyre's family connection to Buddies he's a poor presenter in my book. I started off not liking Leanne Crichton, but now find she talks sense most of the time. If the BBC was on the ball, they could have done worse than take a chance on her and give her the gig as presenter.
  6. Pat Bonner reporting from Celtic Park for Sportsound. God help us if we score. He has no chance of naming the scorer. Just about managed to mumble his way through our team - and that's with the teamsheet in front of him!
  7. Disappointing way to more or less end our season, but we are now in a section of the league where every team above us has a much larger budget than we do. The bookies are seldom wrong and I'm pretty sure they would have predicted 5 losses for us in the top 6 campaign, so we should look on any points at all from these games as a bonus. Finishing 6th should surely help us to recruit some decent players next season. We must capitalise on this good finish and make sure we do as well - or better - next time round. A second top 6 finish would establish us as a decent mid-table side. That would surely be progress from what we've been used to in recent times..
  8. Agree that recruitment for next season is crucial. Achieving top 6 should make it easier to attract a few decent players to the club. Maybe even one or two who are a class above what we've had this season, if the finances are available to tempt them to Paisley. Vital that we capitalise on our good finish this season. As for the rest of this season, players need to get back to the form they showed in previous games if we are to finish higher than 6th. Despite the recent win at Tynecastle, I still believe we are owed something for the two games further back when we should have taken something from Hearts. COYS!!
  9. No announcement about the fixtures yet. According to press reports, it's the Sky TV tail wagging the dog, as usual. As for points, I think we'll do well to get a win and a draw and finish on 48 points. I'd be happy with that. COYS!!
  10. Was in the West Stand on Saturday and got a good look at the new murals. Excellent work by all concerned. Well done to everyone involved. COYS!!
  11. And true recognition at last. Buddies' game up to second (behind the OF game, natch!) in the running order on tonight's Sportscene. Probably more to do with Hearts' troubles, but who cares. We've arrived, folks! COYS!
  12. Please don't forget the supporters who travel from further afield regularly to the SMISA stadium. We're just as passionate about the club. Agree with the sentiment though, it's been a great year for the home games. Is it the passion and support in the SMISA stadium that's made the difference between home results and away results? Must be a factor, although support at away games has also been very good this season. Also agree that we're due something at Tynecastle. Even a draw would be OK.
  13. We needed to win today to keep chances of top 6 alive. Even if we beat Livi and Killie, I don't think that will be enough. Looking at Livi's remaining fixtures, they have a much easier run-in than we do.
  14. First thing to say is that the points were the most important thing today, after Wednesday's result. So, well done to the team as a whole for a much improved performance from midweek. Despite having less possession than the visitors, we dominated the game for the most part. Lucky for us that Main was passed fit. Put in another fine shift for the team. Watt did OK but still looks a stretch off fully fit, and needs to finish off chances if he wants to be a striker. Not MOM for me. That goes to either Strain or Flynn, take your pick. Both had a fine game. Inability to score when on top still the most concerning aspect of our game. Needed a couple of fine saves from Carson, who had his usual solid performance, to prevent an RC equaliser near the end. That would have been throwing 2 points away, but luckily we held on. Thought the ref was just OK, nothing special. For me, he let too many fouls go. Finally, if we have top 6 aspirations, we must back this result up with a win in Perth next week. COYS!!
  15. ThNks for the fixtures, Ronnie. Useful to have the information listed. Agree that Livi is in pole position to get a top 6 place. The other 2 places are still up for grabs. Just hope we haven't chosen this moment to lose the form we were showing a few weeks ago.
  16. Afraid last night's result asks serious questions about our ability to be a top six side. If we are to be serious challengers for the top half of the league, I think we now need 6 points from our next two games. So, players need to get back to best form quickly. At least we are at home on Saturday, so that should help. COYS!!
  17. Lasley interviewed on radio. Knocked back suggestion that he might be off to Motherwell as CEO.
  18. Welcome back, Rascal. People with rational thought and encouraging words for the team always needed.
  19. We need to do to Motherwell what we did to Aberdeen after JG got his marching orders. We could really do with points from this game and next Saturday at home to Ross County. COYS!!
  20. Great goalie. Sad to hear the news. Taken too soon at 64. Hard to believe.
  21. Despite Saturday's result, there should definitely be points for us at Motherwell........ and at the two games after that (Ross County at home and St. Johnstone away). If we can't get at least two wins from those three games, we aren't really a top six side.
  22. Wishing big Jonah all the best in his recovery. He's been a fine addition to our squad and always gives 100% in games. Stay strong, Big Man, our thoughts are with you. Looking forward to seeing you in the black and white stripes again.
  23. Would have been worse if he'd signed for Motherwell before last weekend!
  24. Agree that it's good to still have Big Joe and Baccus at the club. Thought for sure that Baccus would go a couple of weeks ago. Watt is a bit of a gamble but if SR can do with him what he's done with Curtis Main, then it's definitely worth a try taking him on. Small is an unknown quantity tome but if he's coming from a EPL club, he must have something about him. All in all, I think it's been a decent window despite our financial troubles.
  25. Hope your confidence is well-founded. I'm fairly confident myself, but this is St. Mirren we're talking about, even if this season is going pretty well so far.
