  1. Theres no way McInnes would leave Killie so early to join us. The clear and obvious answer here is JR. Don't know why we are wasting time with anything else.
  2. You don't get to be successful in life by being petty about things like that. If Jim is still the manager he'll be doing everything he can do to win the game.
  3. Jack Ross left at the end of the season and got crucified for it. So when would be good timing? Just admit it, we are unhappy he is leaving at all. Nothing to do with timing.
  4. Also, if he leaves it will mean he has been successful and done a good job. Thats the goal here, to appoint a manager who will be successful and do a good job. 90%+ of managers we hire we end up sacking, so lets not pretend that a manager leaving for a bigger club is a bad thing.
  5. I guess it would dent his pride a bit to come back but I think he would be smart about it and look at a manager he respects a lot in Derek McInness. He had to go down a division just to get back in the game. Jack would be joining a top 6 premier league club. We are in a very different position to when he left us so it wouldn't be completely going backwards.
  6. How could he have left without it leaving a bad taste? Fans complained last time that he left at the end of the season and we didn't have time to build a new team over the summer. Those exact same fans will now complain that Goodwin is leaving mid-way through a season. So if end of the season isn't a good time to leave and mid-way through a season is bad timing then when is good timing?
  7. I don't understand why any Saints fans wouldn't want him back (although I know there will be a few that wont). I think JR would be a great appointment and I really hope we can get him. He hasn't done badly in the two jobs he's had since he left and he will have learned a lot in that time. He was still a rookie when we had him and look how well he done.
  8. He got criticised heavily for not interviewing anyone other than Glass the last time. I think this is him publicly showing that they are looking at (and eventually interviewing) multiple candidates this time. The Bodo Glimt manager turned them down today.
  9. You contradict your point by highlighting McInnes as he got sacked for exactly NOT doing what you mentioned in the first paragraph. He stuck around too long until it got stale then got sacked as he couldn't take them any further. There are ups and downs in every managers career, whether they stay where they are or take new jobs. There is no way for managers to avoid volatility and uncertainty, Its part of the job.
  10. Completely agree. 6 weeks ago Goodwins stock would have been a fraction of what it is now and he would never have been considered for the Aberdeen job. Even some in our support wanted him out. So just shows how quickly stock can change, you need to strike while the irons hot.
  11. I read somewhere a while ago that Glass was on 500k (don't know if its true or not) Goodwin is on around 350-400k so not a million miles off.
  12. I hope we can match whatever Aberdeen are going to offer him financially. In terms of playing budget he'd have at his disposal thats obviously impossible, but I'd like to think we could push the boat out and at least match the personal terms.
  13. I'm sure they'll meet that 250k fee no bother. Well it was good having him while it lasted. Time for JR to come home.
  14. He is capable of getting a big job with us. I just hope he also sees it that way
  15. He got offered the Sunderland and Rangers jobs while he was at Aberdeen. Both bigger jobs and he turned them down. It was a rare case of a manager showing loyalty and in the end it came back to bite him. He just stuck around too long and it got stale. But the point is, the opportunities to progress were there, he just didn't take them. Jim will have the chance to get a big job from there if he does well.
  16. I hate to admit it but I think the Aberdeen job would be a good fit for him. If he is staying in Scotland the only step up from us is the Edinburgh teams and Aberdeen. Look at the way Ross was treated at Hibs after getting to 2 cup finals and finishing 3rd, I don't think he'd want to go there any time soon. Hearts job probably wont be available for a while so the only other option is Aberdeen. I think the Aberdeen board are reasonable (even if the fans aren't) and will give a manager time and money. Aberdeen are far better than any other option in Scotland out with the OF IMO. I hope and think they will go for JR though. (Although I don't know if I am just trying to convince myself that or if its what I really think)
  17. Without doubt need to start our strongest team. This is our biggest game of the season so far. We are going to finish mid-table (top 6/bottom 6 I don't think it really matters much tbh), this is a great opportunity to focus on the cup and try and win something!
  18. Wow. Your post started off making reasonable points then descended into a bit on an unhinged rant. Firstly its has always been right to question lockdowns because stuff like that should always be questioned and never just accepted blindly. But I think it's pretty clear that the lockdowns at the beginning were necessary for 2 main reasons - 1. We didn't have a vaccine and had to stop the hospitals from being over run. This was pretty obvious at the time considering the way the hospitals were filling up. 2. We don't have crystal ball and at the time we didn't know what the virus was or what effects it would have. It could have been far worse than it was so we needed to reduce its impact as far as possible until we knew more about it. It's pretty clear the lockdowns at the beginning were needed and made sense - not so much the post-vaccine lockdowns.
  19. He's trying to get on with his life. Theres got to be a stage where is is allowed to move on. Ostracising criminals for the rest of their life doesn't create a healthy society. Might be something to do with the reason Scotland has one of the highest criminal re-offending rates in Europe.
  20. I'd rather we took a punt on a player with issues but who we know is a proven goalscorer with genuine quality, than we go down the route of journeymen like Erwin or Main again.
  21. Seems like a no brainer IMO. We should be trying to get him in.
  22. Sturgeon getting involved with it now as well. How come Clyde were okay with it for so long?
  23. When you say questions were not answered, did they say they wont answer those or were the questions given along with others and they just decided which ones to answer/ignore? I would like to know why Kibble haven't met with fans yet and I can see that one was conveniently not answered.
