  1. On first viewing (and that's really what the ref gets) the red card award looked soft. You could analyse these things to death and from different angles and come up with different thoughts.......as are being illustrated on this thread. What I do find interesting is this "foot up, studs showing" justification, especially by tv pundits, for a red being shown I'd suggest that a footballer's feet are off the ground for a significant part of the time while playing. It's a requirement to walk, run and jump. Indeed, I'm struggling to think of how any tackle could possibly be made without some sort of movement of the foot taking it off the ground having been made!! Is football about to be made into a sport where players shuffle around the park?? For me, the "foot up, studs showing, over-the-ball" perspective was to prevent the high, horizontal lunge-type tackle which had the potential to break legs, ankles and/or severely damage knees, not justification for what seemed like an innocuous tackle by a forward. If you want to see a high tackle, have a look at the pic being used in the Mallon hand ball incident. The County defender's foot is "high, over the ball, showing studs" and a bit more dangerous looking that Arquin's ever appears
  2. Looked also pretty close to last man, but I could be wrong. Not really worth getting pissed off about any more. If it had been Jim Goodwin, straight red for sure. Afraid that's what we are dealing with here.
  3. Great result!!! Well done to all up there. I may now have a wee malt
  4. Not sure about a decision being made tomorrow, however, I do think we are very much at the last roll of the dice stage. We took a gamble (cheap option) with TC et al..................which failed. Indeed we gave this longer than it really merited, in my view. We have given GT and DL an opportunity to try and pull a rabbit out of the hat with a few wins, but unfortunately given our predicament and the now-running transfer window, this cannot continue any longer. We have one last throw of the dice........a new manager. Ross C and Motherwell have already played this joker (with minimal success) and win, lose or draw, we are now at the point where, for me, we have no option but the new manager route. I just don't think the do-nothing option will work and I'd rather we try something than just settle for what we have. Strangely enough, with the right manager, a few changes of staff, and a bit of luck (no more Willie Colon) we might still do this. COYS
  5. Been lucky enough to have been to both As Poz said, SF is tremendous, but its a been there, done it experience for me. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge took me back to my childhood days of watching tv, and Alcatraz is a great trip too. But NY does it for me. Been twice and would go back. Do little red bus trip as soon as you can on arrival and you will get a good feel for what is where. Last time I was there I did the 3 hour boat trip around Manhattan and you see things from a totally different perspective. I haven't done it, but there are a few places you could make a day train trip to and back Good luck
  6. One of mine too Rick..................."I'm buying these drinks!". Classic movie.
  7. Quite sad that the BBC chose to highlight this particular incident given that there were several others throughout the match which were equally, if not more, worthy of closer scrutiny. The clip also failed to show the Utd player pretending to be dead for about 30 seconds then miraculously getting to his feet and sprinting away when he realised nothing was being made of it................not even his shove in Goodwin's back beforehand. And while on a rant about the BBC coverage............50/50 possession, Saints had more shots on target and more corners, yet we are treated to what looked like a one way traffic one sided match, which in all honesty it wasn't. United probably were the better team overall after 90 minutes, but I thought we actually did ok on a day when the ref gave us hee-haw, we were without several players, and at the end we got caught/punished for pushing up.
  8. No issues with the singing and maybe on another (better) day on the pitch it would have been more effective overall. My only other comment, as someone seated in W5, I think you need to shuffle over to the north by a few seats. There were clearly people's views being obstructed by those standing and a few (probably long term season ticket holders) ended up having to move. I think there may be one or two complaints in this regard.
  9. I was at the show on Friday, plus first time in Hydro. In my opinion, show was ok and well put together, I think its difficult, however, to take a tv show like Still Game onto the stage, especially in an arena such as the Hydro and I found myself watching it on the big screens.................which made me think I would be just as well watching it on the telly! Also, I got a bit pissed off with people constantly going in and out to get drink (or go for the inevitable piss) during the show. Starting to sound like an old fanny now!!
  10. Very sad. Listened to lots of his songs as a boy and have a few tracks on my I-pod that I still play now and then. Canadian Pacific has reached its terminal. RIP George
  11. Come on! Let's be having you!! What are we up to in the garden this year?
  12. So, one of the potato tubs is ahead of the other and ready for lifting, which I duly did yesterday. Tub and crop below. Not the greatest and I think I probably over-watered the tub as the soil was pretty sodden when I was lifting them. Still one tub to go, so I'll ease off on the watering. The consolation is that some of the potatoes were boiled up for dinner last nigh and were really good. Small crop of peas from tub as well................don't think I'll be doing these again as you need to plant lots of them to make it worthwhile. Some general pics of greenhouse............... ........and the contents............ .....................and lastly some neeps.
  13. Ok, this topic was slipping into obscurity so time for some progress photos
  14. Try a bag of lawn sand for the moss. Throw an additional wee handful of granules on the weeds or buy a spot kill spray..............but one that's suitable for lawn use........... and don't make the mistake I did one year
  15. My old dad's favourite. He'll maybe see him in concert again now.
  16. Wait till you have a spin in a fully electric car............now that's spooky!!!
  17. Eddy, its plugged and screw fixed internally around the perimeter to the slabs. If the greenhouse goes, the adjacent garage will be offski too!!
  18. Ok, wee progress pics for greenhouse. Finally planted some leeks, turnips and lettuce in planter. ..............and new garage door on order.
  19. Now, that's a shed!!! Nice one
  20. Finally managed to complete greenhouse build. Just need to sort out the plants inside. Have some tomatoes and chili plants and some sweetcorn seeds in pots. Also have some peppers which were in the conservatory from last year and which now seem to be bearing fruit (left side on greenhouse floor).
  21. I'm led to believe Fraser Forster's missus is one of the contestants
  22. Base and planter now complete.............and my friend who did it thought some instant flowers would be a nice touch as well!! Have decided against putting potatoes in planter as I don't think it is maybe deep enough, so I have a couple of tubs of spuds again this year. Not sure what to put in planter now. Greenhouse scheduled for delivery a week today.
