    I like Kyle.
his skill, determination, attitude (and goals) have endeared him to me.  + he’s a Buddie.
i had hoped he might heal quickly and be back to join the top league survival saga.
But if he is going for a reasonable price - and with ambition he SHOULD be looking for such opportunities to grow and develop - I wish him well in his future forays.
all the unqualified carping about the fee Saints might or might not receive seems to forget that Saints have been without paying punters for some time. That’s a wee problem.
Our Covid world is under severe financial stress.  Football is not immune.  If money is to be made from players, better now than when the arse falls out of the market.
(which I thought it already had, so ANY decent sum for an injured player is a great deal.)
players and mangers come and go, St Mirren endures.

    HT 1-0

Yeah we’ve been good. Pretty scrappy game but we’ve edged it and deserve to be ahead.

The goal is in the only real bit of quality in the game. Lovely cross by McGrath and the left back is in their to stick it in the net with a diving header. Goodness knows what Tait is doing up there, fantastic.

He’s been brilliant. Solid at the back and that threat going forward, thanks Motherwell.

Expect a rally from Livi second half, they’ve been pretty toothless. Would love that second goal to settle it.

NZ covid deaths 22, Scotland 2,447 covid deaths.
I sat in disbelief watching the news and the rugby in NZ, wish we could have football back with full stadiums.
I think we will still be a bit behind NZ and football in front of empty stadiums will be crap as we will see next week when the EPL starts.

After such a horrific opening to our 2019/20 season, huge kudos as always to those Buddies who travelled to Easter Road with nothing but hope for encouragement.
    Well done one and all.

Only real criticism today (other than the goal obvs) was the all too familiar poor decision making in the final third. Other than that, pretty encouraging.
Do feel like it was a missed opportunity though. Hibs weren’t that good.

It is true that Tansey is training at a rugby club alone!?
What has Heaton done that he had to find another club?
Oran is another example of issues at the club regardless of blame.
Yes players come and go, mistakes are made.
None of this puts our club in a good light and surely someone is responsible and should be held accountable.
The affect it has on the team on the park and the results in future will show how these issues reflect our league position.

We waited long enough to get a decent return on one of our players (J McGinn) , and in the space of a year that looks like it's been wasted. Terrible mismanagement of the clubs funds.

It was dropped until GLS had that interview. If the information is inaccurate and incorrectly portrays Kearney, can you blame him for responding as such? He’s well within his rights to respond, GLS should have kept his mouth shut because he’s just digging that hole deeper and deeper.

Myself and others suggested we were burning through cash mutually consenting Alan Stubbs, Darren Jackson, Oran Kearney (complete with gagging clause added), Nicolai-Brock-Madsen, Hayden Coulson, Alfie Jones, Jeff King, Cole Kpekawa, shelling out money for Josh Heaton... 2 managers and a first team coach in under 12 months and a handful of players and then having to hire replacements for players and staff we have just paid off.
If we're skint at the start of the season it is not a surprise to some of us. I think I posted elsewhere that since the summer when GLS became chairman 3 years ago we've released and signed around 80 players and blown all the money brought in from selling Jason Naismith, John McGinn, Kyle McAllister, Stevie Mallan, and Lewis Morgan as the wage bill has risen steeply and because we have signed and released so many players and gone through 4 managers, 3 assistants, 2 first team coaches in that time as well and hired a new director of football.

I think the jury is very much out on our prospects:
    Reasons to be cheerful:
We have manager who has strong affinity with the club, some proven management ability and deep knowledge of Scottish football.
Our squad should have a bit of a feel good factor having survived and done well in the last 10 games or so of the season.
Some players look like they have stepped up to Premiership level. Mullen, Cooke, Flynn come to mind. And Magennis should be back to full effectiveness. Mackenzie too, if he can stay fit.
BUT. our manager is unproven at this level and there is a heck of a lot of work to be done to supplement the squad before season starts.  We have thrown the dice in all of the last three transfer windows. It worked for Jack. It failed for Stubbs (admittedly his judgement was poor). It worked for Oran, just. It feels like we are about to throw the dice again to recruit another 6 or 7 players to make up the squad-perhaps with another throw in January.
All in all, I am not optimistic for the coming season.  I think we have one dice throw left to secure a chance at stability in this league. 50/50 I’d say of surviving/getting relegated.

This thread has as with so many descended into a vitriol of abuse between the chosen few who have plenty to say about each other but little concerning football or st mirren. Tony is over the top and over ambitious but who really cares?? A quality coach that we can hold onto for a number of years, with an eye for a player without relying on lots of cash, and a consistently productive academy system will produce regular top 6 results and the real possibility of a Kilmarnock esque season. St Johnstone have shown us this over many seasons, Clarke at killie has shown how a good coach can create a genuinely competitive side, our away support has demonstrated what we can contribute to Scottish football. Will it happen? Probably not, but what's the harm in dreaming big??

My preference was to appoint Goodwin this time last season

Just a pity that we then went on to appoint Stubbs

Ironically, when I criticised the appointment of Stubbs, I was abused by the usual suspects on this forum who then went on to hound him out a few weeks later! [emoji1]

    Gus- Queens Park, then here
    Danny - Clyde
    Craig- Retired ?
    Ian Murray- somewhere in Norway
    Rae - Shite pundit
    Stubbs- Shite Pundit

Alot of cynical people on here, what we know is the manager has left by mutual consent.
Oran and his Mrs had hoped to continue with smfc, but for some reason weren't able too.
Oran thanked everyone apart from Gordon and Gus.
The club issued a terse statement.
As I said before no one comes out smelling of roses but it's not hard to see who pulls the strings.
Look FWD to the next chairman's statement.
