Ok, my interest or knowledge of English lower leagues isn’t great but surely you get the drift. Stubbs tried it and it didn’t work, we had to bin all the duds he brought in. The others I would ship out are Sheron, Foley, Obika and the forward guy we got recently from Ross Co. It’s my opinion none of them are good enough for our top league. Just my opinion, mind.

For anyone who might have been tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt, his destination sums it up. Our top league to non league. Was never a footballer and running around aimlessly is no excuse. Whoever signed him needs a lot of explaining to do. Good luck to the guy but thank goodness he is gone. Next job is to get rid of a few other sub standard players- all of whom have been recruited from English non league or 4th tier- and wise up to the fact that it’s a gamble that very rarely works.

Damning with faint praise.

I’m not the only one, of course, but within 5 minutes of watching him I could tell he was hopeless and way out his depth. Not his fault, he probably tried his best but why has it taken so long to do something about it ?

The January Transfer Window
[email protected] replied to munoz's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Good post. Agree wholeheartedly. -
Cannot be anything but an improvement on Messrs Obika, Morais and co. Has actually been able to compete in this league even if presently out of form. Also looks as if he isn’t brushed aside like a fly which the present incumbents tend to be. Worth a gamble in my opinion.

Yes, me too. The deal would be a free transfer. -
Kilmarnock v St Mirren Sat 2nd Jan 21

Time to get rid of the dumplings up front. About half a dozen who are woefully short of ability at this level. Replace with one decent striker. -

Killie have been playing awful recently-last game apart- yet beating us. As we have no goal scorers , looks like we are likely to lose again. Must get rid of some “forwards” and get one decent player. No need to mention names of those who should leave. Btw radio coverage is pathetic. -

Sounded as though we had a decent amount of the ball but ,yet again, nothing up front. -

I was at all those games, but in those days we had forwards who could actually score goals. -

Successive victories against the old firm are as common as Halleys Comet or Govt Ministers resignations. -
Ross County (a) Boxing Day

Neither of them should be playing for us. Both are rubbish and should be released next month. -

Do I take it you are attending your first ever match then . 🤔 -

A whole 45 mins against ten men to come. Pity we have no forwards. Radio coverage minimal, reporters pathetic. -

I’d give both a free transfer in January. No use as footballers. -

Won’t bother watching on Alba later as it sounds dire. Unless we get a striker etc etc. Must beat Ross Co on Saturday now. Poor show. -

Sounds like we will be playing 10 men second half. -

Both are hopeless. By fantastic, I assume you mean running around keeping well clear of any action. Watch him closely, contributes nothing. Free transfer next month. -

At last, Obika dropped. Don’t fancy Erwin either but has to be better than Obika. Definitely have to acquire a goal scorer which could transform us into a decent side. For today, our record against St Johnstone has always been poor. Would take a draw.in advance. -
St Mirren v Sevco League Cup Quarter Final 16/12/20

Game live on radio, will listen with one ear. Sounds like a team to try and keep the score down, nothing up front as usual. Rangers to win. 😒 -
St Mirren v Sevco League Cup Quarter Final 16/12/20

Rangers rarely concede goals. We have no goal scorers. Rangers to win, I’m afraid. That leaves us with the Scottish Cup and avoiding relegation. -
Motherwell v St Mirren 12/12/20
[email protected] replied to faraway saint's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
A good win for us, as I expected. As a previous poster noted, we could be a good team if we just get a centre forward. Get rid of those not up to the job and concentrate on one or maybe two who can score. -
Motherwell v St Mirren 12/12/20

It appears not to matter how well we play- and recent performances have slightly improved- but until we acquire a goal scorer we are in grave danger of demotion again. I think JG should release those failing up front and replace with a centre forward. Please, no rejects from the English lower leagues though. For tomorrow, this is a game we must win, and Motherwell are not playing well so we ought to do it.
