  1. You trying to give shull a heart attack?
  2. I think things will go back to normal except for people being more cautious if they, or someone else, has a cough/temperature etc.
  3. That's no way to talk about shull. [emoji1787]
  4. He'll bet you a bottle but you'll need to sweep it up yourself. [emoji1787]
  5. That's just Oaky and his family out for a Sunday roast in their normal gear.
  6. Is this immature? [emoji14]
  7. Beats me, I know nothing, as you've probably realised. [emoji16]
  8. Maybe he's actually trying to disguise his love of Celtic FC.
  9. The thread is about the final of a football tournament, not about countries. The arrogance being referred to is about football matters - at least that's how I took it as, surely, if he was taking about "the perceived arrogance of entire nations" he would have mentioned the French and Americans. Anyway, it's not worth arguing about, I'm out.
  10. Are you really saying that you have visited all those countries, have watched local football shows on telly there and/or read their local sports reporting and are fluent enough in all their languages to know that they are not arrogant about their international football successes? A few years back I heard a German football reporter on (I think) Radio Scotland and he was asked about whether they, like England, kept on bringing up their WC wins. He replied (paraphrasing here) "Of course, we mention it all the time, every chance we get, but we are only broadcasting to Germans".
  11. The difference is that we don't get their arrogance shoved down our necks on a shared TV service.
  12. I'm obviously a mind reader, so I'm not answering that question. [emoji16]
  13. They were also on our side later. And on our side in WW1. How far do you want to go back? Culloden? Bannockburn? Falkirk? Stirling Bridge? The Berwick massacre? Or maybe just as far as the Poll Tax? There are probably historical reasons to "hate" every other country in the world (and our own) but that's just stupid. Personally, I want Italy to win because, if they don't, we'll never hear the end of it.
  14. Because rhetorical questions require one, otherwise they wouldn't be questions.
  15. As long as I last until after Sunday. [emoji16] I was born in 66, but after they won it. For all their superiority complex over the years, to date they have only won one more trophy than us.
  16. Quite right too she's a chancer. Anyway, it's about time I took my annual week off sick while the weather is nice.
  17. I've always been happy to be able to say that they haven't won anything in my lifetime, hopefully that continues.
  18. I wonder if her boss is Scottish.
  19. Was it not just called Davie Hay's when he had it? Or just Hay's? Edit: You probably know it as The Hole In The Wa.
  20. It really all depends on the company, the atmosphere, what you are looking for from a night out, etc. Glasgow is more expensive (being a Paisley boy, I hate paying extra for anything) and isn't within walking distance (at least for this auld unfit bastard) from my bed. The best night out I ever had was in Paisley on the 16th of May 1987. The afternoon in Glasgow was not bad as well. [emoji16] As I said, it all depends.
  21. Yeah, but as you know, bookies odds aren't a true reflection on who is expected to win, they are set to maximise the bookies profit (or minimise their loss). There is obviously a lot of "who they expect to win" in the odds but a large amount of money on one side is reflected ... yeah, as I said, you know this. I wonder what the odds are in Italian bookies.
