Irritating Words, Phrases and Whatever Else.
Cumbriansaint72 replied to shull's topic in General Nonsense
'Excuse me' is the most irritating for me at work, which usually is followed up by a stupid question. Would be good to put DILLIGAF on destination blind at times🤣 Mind you west cumbrians would ask still if it went through workington🥺 -
The think is now Aberdeen having to sell to survive and some of the players left aren't anywhere near the same quality. They have been quite honest about their financial problems or projected losses. Cosgrove and Wright being sold. Watkins going back to bristol city and bringing kamberi on loan must only be down to finances as efl championship clubs pay probably pay in lines of rangers/celtic wages at higher end, certainly not what aberdeen can afford. This along with players deferring wages, not a good situation at all These days it's good that it's not us that seem to be on the decline.

St Mirren v Hibernian SPFL Premiership 2/2/21

In the case of JR I'm sure if someone offered you a job at 5x your current salary you would take it too, that's what Sunderland offered. I'm sure there is a part of him still 'saints til I die' I don't think you can go through what he did in near 2 years of management with us and not have any effect and also as a player but he also has a family to provide for. If Sunderland had won that playoff final, I'm sure he wouldn't be managing hibs now. I agree that JG has brought an unknown stableness to the club (for some time) and now we are in a really good way for a change. Certainly beats looking to see howmany points needed to catch 10th place team. If you can beat Dundee utd and Celtic no reason why can't beat hibs. -

They can't grumble really, he will quadruple his wage at Birmingham if he goes there. Birmingham were looking for it go ahead -
Got to say the look on Mrs CS's face about it being not only transfer window day but scottish one closing at midnight 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The January Transfer Window
Cumbriansaint72 replied to munoz's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I think Hldkay was holding out for a higher team than Salford, I can't imagine he is on much more that he would have been here. After watching class of 92 full time, he nearly didn't get that thanks to his agent. Gary Neville was ready to pull plug on it. Rooney went back to national league to solihull moors who no doubt will pay him the money. The wage cap down here really is a double edged sword in this transfer window. There will be probably a better standard of player available to sign but most likely have been without a club since the summer as teams can't afford to take them on then it takes weeks for them to get back to match fitness. -
I think what is forgotten is that we took quite a punt on obika as most of last season at oxford utd he had a serious injury and would have been well short of match fitness on signing for us.

Remember that one well. In fact there were a few lucky escapes for them down here.

He was just sorting out the basis for his own film.........the damned st mirren Its just he was a shite manager unlike cloughie

Celtic v St Mirren, Saturday, 3.00pm
Cumbriansaint72 replied to antrin's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
FYI Sportscene is on at 7.30pm most Saturdays on BBC Scotland channel(before repeated later on BBC 1), my box is set to record so I don't have to wait until MOTD finishes before watching. Depends what shifts I'm on to be fair -

When we signed Dennis I really did think what a signing this is going to be for us. If you look at his goal stats for say lg1/lg2 it is really impressive given that he was playing for teams that would end up relegated due to not being able to stop them going in other end. I do think the wage cap in English leagues has helped us as I'm sure Dennis and JDH would have still been in EFL somewhere if this hadn't come in. Their loss our gain. -

Just back from work for what was a good shift, must have something to do with result😃 Now waiting for sportscene unfortunately got to put up with MOTD first😊 -
Some proper tackling going on😄

The big thing is the money they have spent especially misfiring werner, at least when we sign a misfiring striker they tend to come on a free transfer. There is no time to get a team to bed in with english premier, too much money at stake.

Livingston v St Mirren League Cup Semi Final 24/1/21
Cumbriansaint72 replied to shull's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
That's the thing, livi aren't great but what they do and what they have make the difference. What they do is make sure they are on players and force mistakes, plenty time when there was a throw in to them we had players marking fresh air or our throw ins we had1 or 2 players looking for ball but with 3 or 4 livi players close by. What they do is have 3 steady players in their team being bartley, ambrose and guthrie nothing fancy or flash just steady influences to rest of squad. They play to their strengths, we don't seem to have that but play a stifling 4-5-1 that doesn't suit -

I think Goodwin needs a kick up the bum from higher up to get out of this negative style of play, also the players too, as glaring obvious today that even passing to someone with the same colour top seemed to be beyond them. -

I'll settle for we made livi look the better team. If we had went for it and lost by more yes it would be disheartening, but surely (and I've posted it before) someone higher up must pull Goodwin up about these dire performances more so after this. As for Brophy, poor lad must be looking at a get out clause. Our tactics would make rashford look shite. -

I agree with you what a ridiculous post. Onto the game, I've got to say I'm glad Mrs CS shouted for dinner when it had gone 85 minns we could have been playing after livi had gone home and still struggled. God only knows what they are coaching these players but that was shocking, it's a cup semi final for christ sake. We made livi look good. -

I bloody hope not! Surely can't be that hard to string some passes together, we are making livi look good
