We didn’t ‘win’ £2m. Our league prize money was just under £1.8m. Approximately £400k increase on 10th place. So, if we’re dicing with danger on the budget - that was the additional value that we were doing it for. Add on League attendances increase as well.

Worth remembering that the club waited decades for a pay day like the McGinn money. Then the Covid loan money has been and gone as well. I don’t think anyone should underestimate the financial prudence that is required at a club like Saints.

I want to reiterate that Kibble or any other organisation's priority is essentially to promote their own interests first and foremost.  When it comes to the crunch St Mirren comes second.   What would the Kibble BOD say if their reps on the St Mirren board gave Saints priority?

Absolutely agree. I’d also love to know what the club / charitable foundation involvement would have been moving forward. Given they were fronting the bid in name, would there have been operational costs? Who was intended to be running the show?

For a few years now we’ve only heard vague words from Kibble about how they justified spending charity money on SMFC. Those were along the lines of shared visions, employment opportunities, community, etc.
There’s obviously more to, and always has been.  They should be honest and share their business plan(s), and how they expect to benefit financially from their investment in SMFC.
If the statement is true about the funding application, there are many questions to be answered. If it is planned for SMFC owned-land, what is the value of that land? Will it be paid for? Is the St.Mirren branding within the funding application a smoke-screen to suggest that the club are benefiting from it despite not being part of the application process? What value will SMFC make from this?

    Edit to add :
I’m not opposed to the development of unused land. It would presumably bring job creation and build up the area.

The single, most important thing however, is how it benefits St.Mirren FC.  If there’s a business proposal, the members should be able to consider that alongside the relevant facts, figures and land valuation.

Any party not conducting themselves in that manner is simply taking the supporters for mugs.

So… of all the land that could have been marked up incorrectly on an application, it just so happened to be the club’s land that was mistakenly shaded.

And the fact that Kibble were representing a bid as SMFC charitable foundation without their knowledge doesn’t matter - because it was just at an early speculative stage.

Those are the facts that we are asked to accept.

    Really?
AW has certainly highlighted that the land in question was not Kibble land and they said the council had made the error plus the “joint application” with the charitable foundation was without their permission or consent.
I’m not sure even the Kibble lawyers would say there is not a “shred of evidence”.
I certainly knew nothing about this until he brought it to our attention.
I don’t think he has an anti-SMFC agenda.
If you had said anti-Kibble then I’d agree.

I get the two previous posts that are more willing to give the team a pat on the back, rather than criticise. I recognise that top 6 is an achievement and they deserve credit.

It doesn’t mean that we’re wrong to want more from them. We’re in the position we are because of the ability they’ve shown as a team over the season. We should have been bounding into then final 5 matches after 3 points in a Killie match, but we froze. Same again yesterday for the first 45. While I recognise the bigger budgets of teams like Hibs, we’ve proven that we can compete currently so it’s a disappointment when we let ourselves down on the day.

I live in hope for a win at home next week 🙏🏻

Do I remember correctly that the club, with his guidance, invested hundreds of thousands in the stock market? I’m sure it was him that was lauding the great decision and how well the investment was doing compared to money just sitting in the bank.

Indeed. They certainly got handed a fairly disproportionate amount of power for their minority stake.

On the subject of buying out Kibbles share.

This has been asked at a previous SMISA meeting and to my knowledge has never been answered honestly.
That legal agreement (now that the deal is concluded and Gordon Scott no longer the majority shareholder) should in my opinion be made public to the SMISA membership.

I understand why posters have a difference of opinion about Alan Wardrop.
Let’s put that to one side as not everyone sees eye to eye on everything.
For AW to resign from the club board and then look to take direct action against a group (who are minority shareholders) who have significant influence and power in the boardroom he must have evidence of significant wrongdoing by the Kibble.
It’s still not clear to me why AW resigned. I don’t think we have heard the truth behind that. Some say he was pushed out but I’m not so sure if that is accurate.
I was critical of AW leaving before the accounts were published but he must have had good reasons if it was his choice.
Unfortunately I was not at the club AGM so not sure what was said.
I don’t buy into the “civil war” aspect.
If there have been moves made by a 3rd party to exploit land owned by our club we should deal with that issue and not just sweep it under the carpet.
