  1. Do you think we/JR have some sort of exclusivity on signing players that don’t work out and have to be carried until they can be shipped out?
  2. Yup! Brilliant idea. In fact, let’s only sign 11 players, coz that’s the maximum number you’re allowed on the pitch at any given time. No need for subs because the 11 players will all be well worthy of their place and will never be shite. if a player gets injured or sent off we’ll just need to live with it. No point in wasting money planning for that unlikely scenario. It’s they way forward I tell you!!
  3. Tsk Tsk. A schoolboy error of the highest order for a man of your years!
  4. Blimey Ricky!! Those must be some pretty special family commitments to tarnish a record as impressive as that!
  5. I was 10. I was mad about Scotland, but hadn’t yet really got into club football. That all changed that day.
  6. Both Sky and BBC have Smith scoring the second goal??
  7. Remember it well. Me a Jimmy H watched it in a boozer in Jersey. We went ballistic when Ricky scored the winner. Virtually rolling aboot on the floor. Got some strange looks from the locals.
  8. That was the day I officially became a Saints fan. I had been to a few cold, soulless 2nd division games before it, but that was the day I caught the bug. Complete with pitch invasion at the end.
  9. I like Gary Naysmith. I folllowed Scotland for years and remember him in Reykjavik scoring one of the best goals I’ve ever seen. Honest interview that. He’s a good wee guy.
  10. Thank you for making my point. The only players on your list who I would say we are extremely unlikely to make anything on are Naismith and McLean. Naismith was hardly ever going to become some superstar who County we’re going to make a fortune on at our expense. Also I’m already on record as saying I don’t think McLean is much cop. Aberdeen won’t make anything on him either. All of the others it’s entirely possible could generate future revenue for us and if they don’t it’ll be because the weren’t good enough, so why should those clubs pay us over the odds. The way I look at it, the transfer fee takes account of the player as he is now, and the sell on takes care of his potential. i would love it if Scottish Championship players commanded bigger fees, but the fact is they don’t.
  11. And if you went to the 1877 Club to watch the game in the company of your fellow Buddies, would they force you to drink alcohol? Or do you just have no will power?
  12. What a complete load of delusional pish. When was the last time St. Mirren or any other team like St. Mirren offered anybody a "bumper contract"? There's a reason for that. Add ons/sell ons protect both the buying club and the selling club. They ensure that the bigger buying club doesn't have to pay the diddy selling club an unrealistic fee for a player who is largely unproven at any significant level. Whilst at the same time ensuring that if the player turns out to be a good as the selling club thinks they are, then they get rewarded properly in the future. If Dundee Utd have made nothing on sell on clauses from Celtic, it's because the players in question have turned out to be pish. The only player I can think of who has moved from Utd to Celtic with any level of success is Armstrong and in his case, there is still every chance Utd could benefit from a sell on clause.
  13. Fair play to Johnston. Very level headed. I thought he’d have been greetin like a big lassie. Can you imagine what Robertson or McCall would have been like after that game.
  14. Commentators on SMTV are hilarious. Going on about how the Pars keeper shouldn’t have been booked in the first half and that it wasn’t a foul, because he got his hand to the ball. Aye!! Outside the box ya dafties. i wouldn’t say it was a game if 2 halves. I thought we were brilliant first half and I think we also started the second half well. It was when we visibly started to sit back that it started to go wrong. Up until then I thought McGinn had been brilliant. Thought Magennis was poor today though. Morgan was unplayable in the first half, but his end product seems to have deserted him recently.
  15. Unused sub again today. At least he’s getting on the bench now. Hopefully get a run out soon.
  16. Commentator just said Morgan was tugged off by Higginbotham. Damned disgrace!!
  17. After all that it doesnae look like today’s game is on!!
  18. Despite Jersey not being in the UK or Ireland I cannae get St. Mirren TV. In view of the news that Div is unlikely to be Periscoping today, I need to investigate the possibility of getting one of these things that apparently disguises where you live. Could someone please explain it to me, bearing in mind I’m a complete and utter dunderheid. Thank you!
  19. Sammy very much at fault there. The player seemed to be getting the better of Baird but he hadn’t shaken him off. As another poster said, Sammy made it easy for the striker. That was literally the only way he could have scored without doing something pretty spectacular. Still, for every mistake Sammy has made this season I’ve seen him make plenty of great saves to keep us in games. keepers make mistakes. Who knew?
