He's obviously referring to the friendly.

Completely out of order the way that wee runt McCann sent his players out, probably has a chip on his shoulder since he was 2nd choice.

You want friendlies to be played in a competitive but safe manner - it's hard enough getting a good team out on the park without having them injured in friendlies.

McCann wasn't second choice. McCann was first choice but ruled himself out. They came in for JR and when he knocked them back McCann changed his mind.

That is a great increase and hopefully we will get off to a better start than normal in the league. I see the club are putting the Livvy fans in the family stand for the cup game. Hope it is a success and the club do the same when Brechin, ICT, Livvy and Dumbarton all visit us on league duties emoji125.png

Genuine question. Why do we think it's a good idea having away fans in the same stand as home fans? From a cost saving point of view? If so fair dos. I just hate seeing a completely empty stand at a game.

Can you have a word with Craig Gordon please.

If Tuesday nights error makes Samson that bad in many eyes, Gordon must be one of the worst keepers playing after that match v the auld enemy!

I actually almost used the Harry Kane goal to emphasise my point.

    Shocker!!

My last say on this, my wife used to work for him and an other guy. Tony and his business partner fell out with each other and had a disagreement what the business was worth. Tony decided in his wisdom to bring a pal of his to the office to check out the books. It is fair to say the police were often looking into the affairs of his pal. He also told lies about my wife after he left the business so excused me for not kissing the ground that he walks on.

That's fair enough mate and totally explains your feelings towards him.

However my views on this topic only related to how "special" he was as a player. I don't even know the man.

i think you knew that but were maybe being a wee bit obtuse given your personal feelings towards him.

Even though I think you know exactly what I meant by special :P I will explain.

i saw my first Saints game in 1974 (I think you've been following them even longer). In those 43 years I couldn't even begin to hazard a guess at how many players I have seen in the stripes. Let's call it hundreds. Tony Fitzpatrick is comfortably in the top 10 (possibly even top 5). In my humble opinion that makes him special.

For me, referring to him as just another player, is putting him in the same category as Stephane Bahoken and Christopher Wreh. I wasn't having that. :boxing

Don't agree Bud. There were THREE saints players closer to the scorer when the cross came in , two of whom "Jumped" if that's what you call it with O'Dea and both  were truly beaten . Indeed McGinn (I think) was actually goalside and couldnt prevent the header. & don't get me started on the lack of closing down for the cross coming in !?!

BTW, I am not a one man Samson fan club, I don't think he is the best keeper we have ever had but for where we are and who we can attract I would say we could have done a lot worse. He is not Buffon but I feel there is a  section on here who are out to crucify him before he gets his gloves fastened .

Fwiw, I would love to see the young fella Stewart being our new diamond find, but in the absence of that yet being proven , let's go with a tried and tested option and give him our support....... or we could go with Langfield.

Yeah I accept that we had defenders challenging for the ball who didn't cover themselves in glory. But I believe when a ball is played into the 6 yard box, a good goalie will come and clean out everything, safe in the knowledge that he will either win the ball or more than likely be given a free kick. The one thing a keeper must not do in that situation is stay on his line. He's completely helpless in that situation.

As for Sammy himself, not only do I think he's dodgy on crosses, I think he has a habit when shot stopping (which in basic terms he's quite good at) of palming the ball back out into a dangerous area instead of pushing it to safety.

I'd actually prefer to see the young lad being given a chance, but it's all about opinions mate.

That's me telt emoji15.png I certainly do think he was a great player for us but at the end of the day, he was just an other player who played for us.

    That's more like it. :P

In that context yes he's just another player. In the same way that Kenny Dalglish was just another for Liverpool or Henrick Larsson was just another player for Celtic.

Out of curiosity do you regard any of our ex players as special?

How can anyone blame Samson for the 2nd & third goals ?  Looks like Sammy is going to be plagued by a certain section of our support who always look for a whipping boy .

I absolutely agree he wasn't responsible for the 3rd. He was responsible for the 1st. As for the 2nd, when a player scores with a header inside the 6 yard box and the goalkeeper isn't challenging for the ball, then I believe he is at fault.

i don't think Sammy is a good keeper. I make no apologies for that and if he is given games this season, I have no doubt he will prove me right. I have no personal agenda against him. It's just my view on him as a player.

Can I sum it up? Tony Fitzpatrick was a fantastic player for us and is St.Mirren through and through. However, sometimes he's overly positive and a tad optimistic. Still an asset to our club IMO.

Yes you can sum it up and you have. I doubt anyone would disagree with a single word of your summation..........except Renfrew. He thinks he was just another player.

Aye? You really should read your post again, and to help you I've quoted it below.

You're really trying to squirm your way out of your post by implying you were commenting on renfrews post in relation to Tony being just another player when he was clearly pointing out Tony should try to think before he says something that is, in some peoples opinion, bonkers? :1eye

As for the other grammatical errors, why is it hilarious?

You need to get a grip. You tried some time ago to get all angry with me for no fecking reason other than you disagree with my views.

It's a forum, away and chill. :byebye

Are you now telling me that you know better than me what I was commenting on? You're funny.

I used the word "describe". The only thing in Renfrew's post that can be construed a description was the comment about him being just another player. It's obvious that's what I was referring to.

Why on earth would I care whether Renfrew likes or dislikes him and why would I try to deny the obvious fact that Tony often talks a lot of shite?

You're not a very clever chap are you?

You actually believe a talented player is not capable of making statements that, to many seem outrageous or simply make the club look foolish? :lol

    Aye each to their own.

What the hell are you on about?? I never commented on anything Tony has said. I was commenting on Renfrew describing him "just another player I used to watch".

You seriously are one argumentative fecker.

You even highlighted someone's grammatical error earlier by highlighting that they had typed "board" instead of "bored" whilst hilariously not noticing that they had also typed "your" instead of "you're".

That's fair enough but sometimes he should just listen to himself. For what it is worth, I don't hate or dislike him, just an other ex player that I used to watch.

Absolutely mind boggling way to describe one of the most talented and loyal players ever to wear the stripes.

    Each to their own though.

  12. My only real issue from last night was Samson and we have to learn that lesson.

If we are to have any chance of winning the league, we will not have the luxury of throwing away points in games. If we are to lose games it needs to be because we were beaten by a better team on the day.

If that had been a league game last night, we would've handed Dundee 3 points on a plate. In my opinion they were not any better than us last night. It was an otherwise very even game.
