The 2nd half we created our 2 best chances.

As for your last paragraph you should know there's more to it than that.

Just for absolutely clarity re my last paragraph, I mean “on the day”. Shankland was a difference maker on the day. We have no one that can do what he does on such a regular basis. That’s not to say Hearts are generally “better” than us. Shankland played and barely got a sniff when we beat them 1-0 at our place.
But yesterday, in my humble opinion, Hearts were comfortably better than us and fully deserved to win the game.
And re the “chances” we had, we can create as many chances as we like (we didn’t though), but without the type of composure shown by the likes of Shankland, we won’t score many goals.
By the way, (and I’m honestly not being facetious), can you remind me what those two best chances were? I’m thinking the sclaffed shot by Small that was blocked by an defender and the speculative looping header by Gogic which Clark saved comfortably? I could name at least 4 great chances Hearts had in that second half (mainly due to defensive calamities) which would have more than cancelled out any half chances we had.

    Really?

I would suggest most of their chances were the result of individual errors by our players.

Maybe you were hiding behind the couch when Gogic had a header well saved by their keeper?

The stats, which are kind of facts, all suggest there wasn't much between the teams.

The forum member you replied to had watched the full 90 minutes yet you refute his version on a 5 min (approx) highlight reel?

Again, we never looked like winning but I don't share the gloom, as we could easily have had a point.

There's no doubt it's all about points, which I suggested earlier in the season when we were picking up points, sometimes not always deserved so our current run is a concern but I would be more concerned if we were really out of games. (The Dundee game apart)

I would also suggest we are, as a club, more used to being involved in avoiding relegation, last season apart, which should be remembered.

I normally agree with your fairly balanced post match assessments, but not this week.

I thought we were terrible, particularly in the second half. For me, the stats belie the ease with which Hearts won the game. I held out very little hope of us getting back into the game at 1-0 and zero hope once it went to 2.

the quality of our passing and particularly crossing was absolutely woeful.

Someone said we lost due to a mistake and a moment of sheer quality. Are those not generally the types of things that separate two teams and mean that one is better than the other, with that team usually winning the game?

Luckily, we have you elvis. The man who is never wrong !

Feel free to tell the manager where he is going wrong. Just a wee phone call from you is all that's required to put him/us back on the winning trail. You are surely our Messiah, and not a very naughty boy after all.

    :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

@elvis may be on negative repeat most weeks, but I’m afraid this post is bollocks.

It suggests that in order to have an opinion, Elvis needs to be a football manager?? He is a paying customer and as such is entitled to a view.

If you paid to go to a fancy restaurant and your food was shite, would you refuse to complain because you’re not a chef?

  4. Terrible second half. Really really poor.

Thats 2 weeks running now that Mandron has come on as a sub and I have genuinely no recollection of him touching the ball.

Some of the “football” in that second half was atrocious. We couldn’t even do the basics right.

We are most definitely on the slide. We better get some points from Killie, because we’ll be getting none in the following 3 games.

Simon Murray, presently at Ross County is a target for us to sign in January.

I think he would be a great signing.

Hmmm. I’m not sure he’d solve any problems for us. I see him as a Curtis Main type workhorse and tireless runner, but not going to get us goals. Could be wrong.
If he’s a straight swap for someone who’s going then fair enough, but I don’t see him as a particularly positive “addition” to the squad.

I really hope can hold on to him. Our form has dropped since his injury.

Is that really true though pod?

Prior to his injury we had only won 1 of the previous 7 games and that was a game Strain didn’t play in (4-0 v St. Johnstone).

Neither Strain nor the team have really been very good since the home win v Hearts.

Well, we unexpectedly lost our early season form, so I don't see why not.

In fact, I expect us to unexpectedly return to our early season form. :D

Ahhhh but did we?? Or did we all expect to lose it at some point? In other words, did we all really expect to lose our unexpectedly good early season form and resume with a more expected shite form? I expect so.

1 point at a push from next 4 games.

Sadly I believe this to be true. In fact, if we're only talking league games then I'd extend it to our next 5 games. Of course we can get 3 points at home Killie, but if we play as we have in all matches recently bar the RossCo home game, then I fear a point is more likely. Can't see us getting anything away at Hearts/Aberdeen, or at home to Celtic/Rangers. Unless of course we can unexpectedly return to our early season form.

    0-0 final score.

    Saved by Hemming.

Small and Baccus, for me, played well.

Fell out of the game minute by minute after the penalty miss.

That about sums it up. I though Jonah was decent too with Tanser and Kiltie getting pass marks.

Pretty awful stuff all round though. Some of that can be put down to the conditions but not all of it.

Did Mandron even touch the ball after he came on??

Well, I was under the mistaken impression it was a tax haven. I accept, based on what you wrote that it's not. However, if it was, I would suggest that it would be hypocritical to claim to be an exponent of a political belief predicated on the redistribution of wealth through....taxation.

    🤣

And if it was, I’d agree with you. Glad that’s all cleared up that you were talking bollocks. 😄👍

Has it not? 😆 I was only having a wee joke. I seem to recall you referring to yourself as a socialist in another thread and I found that quite amusing at the time.

    Did ye aye?

When I moved to Jersey, I must’ve missed the sign at customs that said “leave your social conscience here”.

Compelling circumstances which I certainly can understand. Going to five games when you live in the tax haven of Jersey is laudable. Do you not qualify as living abroad? Jersey's not part of the UK after all.

Ha ha. Brilliant. You’re a wee bit out of date mate. Jersey hasn’t been a “tax haven” for a very long time.

  13. I am truly disgusted with myself for all those times as a kid when I perpetrated grand larceny on the club  by getting a lift over. Or when I turned up for the last 20 minutes of the game when they opened the doors because I couldn’t afford the admission fee that week. Absolute shameless hoovering of 20 minutes that on a pro rata basis should’ve cost me at least 20p.

I’m away for a good greet, fire on my hair shirt and flagellate myself Opus Dei style.
