The only thing in this I think I can criticise is the club communications, we should have had something by now and it is spectacularly poor on this occasion.
Kearney has been brilliant and if you had told me he was with us to the end of the season and will keep us up when he joined I would have been delighted.  He, like the rest of us, is unlikely to reach his final days and suggest that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office and less time with his family.  His motivations as most people on here agree are pretty sound.  Equally the Chairman's decision leading to this point is most likely in our best interests.  To get the assistant manager to take more of the training so he can be at home and for the club to pay the travel every week seems unreasonable to me and it would come to a head at some point in the near future again.
Kearneys apparent lack of availability to lead the planning for pre-season and signings whilst on holiday has left us further behind than we would hope to be at this stage, equally the decision he took to commute tells us that now isn't the right time in his life to commit to this type of a role.
I would like to think that in 5 years or so when his kids are grown up and more independent he may look for a job again and I think he will make a brilliant manager at the top of the game.
I think both parties have made the right decision.  I would like to see Goodwin get the job, I take the points about experience but for me that doesn't mean much - less experience managers have taken on bigger jobs and done well.

Regularly got slated for stating the communications from the club are shambolic

We find out snippets of info on here which ultimately lead to the truth , long before the club finally catches up with fans social media & the national media

It’s shameful really, despite the many claims this aspect of the club would be resolved under the new regime

Anyway, not fussed that OK is leaving but nonetheless, grateful for his contribution in our survival

Tactics and team selection raising a lot of questions right now. He’s surrounded by experienced guys tho so should at least be better organised defensively with Gus about!

But reality is he will be here until end of season at least. Board acted quickly with Stubbs but we can’t keep doing that. Too costly and what we need is stability.  We may well go down but I think he’s here to stay.

I can’t believe the difference since May. It would have been incredible to think we would end up here so quickly.

For me this is pure and simple down to coaching/management style. Craig, Rae and Murray couldn’t crack the formula of getting players to give their all. Jack did and he built an incredible spirit.

His approach was to engage, encourage and even consult the players on how they go forward together. Stubbs has the approach of old days e.g. players are there to be told what to do.

His tactics and signings are clearly an issue but I still think he has to be given more time - he’s on the hook now, he’s had resources and backing and he’s brought in players who have limited playing time and he’s unbalanced the squad capabilities. Given endless time maybe it would work but that’s something we can’t give him.

If your one of the players from last season your simply not enjoying your work as much and it shows. He needs to get them onside and supporting the other players very quickly. In short he needs to change his style to get the best out of the team. I’d like to see him out on the touch line encouraging and guiding the less experienced lads tomorrow because it will be very tough.

Jack didn’t have it easy initially and he said himself that one good result gave him something to build on. I think we are 2-3 wks away from that happening.

The board have backed Stubbs! When he came in GLS said he would be free to bring in 6 or 7 players to add to the players who were still contracted from last year's squad and JR's 2 summer signings. Stubbs began work or rebuilding the squad not by looking at the targets JR and JF had identified but by telling Reilly his deal was off the table (within days of Stubbs arriving at the club and without meeting Reilly). He then got to work on clearing out more of the squad he inherited telling at least 4 players after 1 week of pre-season training they were free to leave and since then has sold 2 others, loaned out Kellerman and apparently said Cammy Smith can go if a deal suits the club! He has decimated what he inherited and now having signed 11 new players of his own, with 7 injuries we don't look like we can fill the subs bench!
Stubbs has now signed 11 of his own players. When Jack Ross signed 11 players in one window there was no doubt that the board had backed him and let him build his own team. I have no idea why people are questioning the board's "backing" of Stubbs - Kenny Miller has said we offered him more or less the same 2 year deal Dundee gave him - he could have been a 12th signing!

I spoke to Brechin’s commercial director earlier this evening - up to 350 pay at gate available so you’ll be fine. That could be more if they need it.

From there perspective this is a real end of season bonus and there is scope for more if needed because as you know from earlier this season there is no separation of fans.

Jack is hugely intelligent indeed has a degree gained at Heriots Watts Univ. Its my view Barnsley is the wrong club for him at the wrong time.He would be left with a floundering squad unable to strengthen the squad due to the closed window.English clubs are ruthless and if relegation happened he would be out the door and the quality of his CV weakened. He will get a much better club than Barnsley to manage in the future of that there is little doubt so better to stick with us in the interim and secure promotion and then see what's on the table. He only has to look at McInnes to Bristol City Stubbs to Rotherham and more recently Neilson to MKD all three managers sacked and it took McInnes some time to re-establish himself.

Superb result. First half we did struggle a bit but the defence and Big Sammy were top notch all night. I just never thought Utd would get by them.

Morgan and McGinn class as usual. Long way to go but we look like a serious contender on tonight’s performance. Whatever happens after the last few years simply winning regularly is a delight

Great 3 points and not for the 1st time we only played decent for 1 half of the game. Surprise but delighted by the size of the home support and also an excellent turnout by the away mob    Without our top scorer and we are still averaging 2 goals a game   Well done to all involved in the win

I started this website 15 years ago to give Saints fans a platform for discussing the club and the team with each other.
We won't always agree on everything, otherwise there would be no point in having the forum at all. The only thing we all have in common should be a desire for the very best for the club. We want the team to succeed on the park and the club to thrive off the park. That should be a given.
It's important to me that when we disagree we do so constructively and with respect for each others views.
It's also important to me that the forum is not used as a vehicle to continually attack the club. The club make mistakes and should be called out on it when they do, but the players, the staff and everyone else associated with the club shouldn't be continually attacked by their own. It's not what the forum was created for.
The stuff posted in the last 48 hours on a couple of threads, which have now been hidden, has been miles away from the sort of stuff I expect to read on here, and yes I'm including myself in that.
It's been poor. Let's draw a line under it and move on and try harder to be civil to one another, using the ignore function if necessary to block out those users you don't wish to engage with.

There are plenty of places to see game pretty well outside the ground like that fence. Suspect they will be well protected tho.

I’d say we may get 300 tickets for this. I think it’s a great story and what the cup is all about. The pitch is very poor quality (I’ve played at the park and drainage is an issue) but I recon they will put some money into sorting it before the game.

If fans are travelling by train through the tram from haymarket is best bet. Or number 3 or 25 bus from outside the station on Dalry Road.

There are no pubs nearby but the one across from haymarket station (Platform 5) is decent prices......by edinburgh standards!

Lewis Morgan is having a dip in form , thats it. It happens to the best of them.
He is a young man with the weight of expectation on his shoulders and the speculation of a possible / almost certain move to cope with, its understandable that he may not be as focussed as he should be at the moment.
The guy is a class player playing under a manager who understands him and will continue to nurture and support him.  Those abusing him on twitter ( i dont do twitter so dont know what form of abuse this is and how severe) need to get a grip.
As for his Mum not being happy about this , what Mother wouldnt get upset about her son or daughter getting hassle ?

Ticket arrived yesterday. All set for this one. Couple of Hearts fans yesterday tipping Jim Duffy for the Scotland Job so  lets put another dent in his CV this week.
At the Falkirk game on Saturday I heard the Old Craig Storrie/Rory Loy  chant being brought out the bag and dusted down for this season. I think its a catchy wee number but I missed the updated lyrics of the first two lines can someone fill in the updated prelude to
Someone said to me, who you going to see
    I said, St Mirren FC
Just so I can do my bit to help put another St Mirren dent in Jim Duffy's record.
