When the stadium was built they left the breeze-blocks unpainted to keep costs down, or so we were told.

Therefore if we paint the murals are they going to need to be constantly re-done? If so, how often?

    I am sure he won't.

Bazil is really really confident there is no appetite for saving the pot.

I am equally as confident the tide is turning.

All I want is the option to be available for members when all other options are uninspiring or downright ridiculous (footballs & goals for a top flight professional football club etc).

There will be options that merit voting for but, looking to the future, I genuinely believe, having a rainy day fund will serve the club better especially as, income is up now, finances are healthy(ish) and we don't know what the landscape will look like then.

Having a pot of cash then could make the world of difference.

Our problems don't actually run any deeper than that at all. Players like Rogers, Edwards (you mentioned him, not me!), McShane etc can't make up a Premier League squad. We've discussed to death the reasons we are relying on these guys, I think we can agree there are a fair number of people to blame there and that's its time to move on and look to the future.
Oran Kearney, as far as I can tell, appears to be a decent enough manager, we have a good infrastructure in place at the club, good youth system, a little money in the bank for once, and more McGinn installments to come. Kearney I think did quite well to bring in Ferdinand, Jackson and Hammill well in to the season with a closed transfer window, so I am hopeful between him & Gus we have some good targets lined up for January.
Get the deadwood out the squad and replace them with players capable of playing in the Premiership. It's a simple problem, nothing that deep.
That all said, the Samson decision is just mind-boggling. Every point in the run-up to the transfer window is precious. We could have possibly picked one up yesterday with him between the sticks, and we are now going to face Aberdeen with a lad in goals who has never played a proper match in his life. How this situation is preferable to playing an experienced goalkeeper is beyond me.

You haven't shown any understanding of any of the points I raised but I will answer your question.
I'll do it in two parts.
The first part, I'll summarise the discussion we have had on here.
Secondly I'll talk about the problem with the current business model.
In the third I'll explain what I think the strategy should be.
    First part.
You seem like a decent enough person baz so I don't really want to tears strips out of you as I would do to someone like Dickson. However, let me start by summarising my opinion of your understanding.
    1) You show no understanding at all of the vital importance of considering operating profit as at least as important as net profit. You either genuinely don't understand or you are spinning like mad to hide it. Either way I don't care. That's your issue not mine.
    2) You confused operating profit with net profit and took nearly 3 pages to realise or admit your mistake.
    3) You seem confused about why player sales would be classified as an exceptional item despite the fact that we have had significant income in only about 6 sales in the last 20 years.
    4) You have a casual disregard for the practicalities of having to cut costs when we run out of players to sell.
    5) You have berated several other people on here who have demonstrated a clear understanding of the accounting principles being discussed.
    6) You confused running the club properly with achieving success on the pitch. The two are completely different objectives.
    7) You seem unaware of your limitations in regard to the above.
If you are in a position of financial authority anywhere within the club or SMISA and I was in charge of either, I would have your desk cleared by the end of the day. The combination of all of these 7 points is disastrous in anyone with any financial responsibility in any organisation.
I'm not really interesting in discussing this part further because you are going round in circles with me and other people.
You are making a bit of a fool of yourself.

The windfall from Morgan and others has basically gone into players pockets and as has been ably demonstrated by many reasonable posters above a number  of these players did nothing to add any value to a squad that won the championship.
Budgeting in any business has to look towards the long term, boom and bust budgeting eventually leads to bust and bust outcomes
It would appear that one off income peaks coming from transfer fees have been used to budget on an annual basis for recurring costs with more players now on 2/3 year deals.
An increase in wage costs is inevitable when strengthening a squad but it is the size of the increase and the length of the clubs commitment to these contracts that does give concern.
The current board appear to have been slow at getting the hang of looking to the long term during the good times, hopefully they realise the warning that this set of figures flags up and we can cut our cloth accordingly going forward.
The figures are by no means a disaster but the underlying tone is something that should give us all something to think.

Having not followed the thread path, and in all honesty not surprised at the major tangent it seems to have gone off (like every thread on here),  I must ask though:
How have we gone from Oran Kearney interviews to science and religion? That's some tangent to go off on!

Think people on here as usual are getting carried away. The Fans in W7 do a great job bringing a atmosphere to the ground. 1 person threw the coin who I hope is caught barred from the stadium for life. And the full weight of law comes down hard on them. But dont tar all with the same brush. Coys.

Standing when the rules state you are meant to be seated
Singing offensive and17th century ditties . Against the law they say
Our keeper subjected to missiles the whole game. No mention in the media
    Pitch invasion again no mention
But one fanny throws a coin from a diddy team splashed all over the place

On t'BBC, Saturday forecast hourly expected % of rainfall reads like 93, 95, 96, 99% expected.
It would maybe be dreich and maybe dangerous on slippy grass and pavements.
It would certainly be miserable, unless Saints had stuffed Newco earlier in the day...

Some of the stuff on here is hilarious. I only drink on a Saturday, not justifying it, just my personal choice. I don't think we need booze at the game but i wouldn't be annoyed about it either. I have 2 or 3 pints with my brother before the game and i'm fine to watch the game, i don't treat alcohol as means to an end to get pished it's a social thing for me these days.  I've never been remotely near having a drink problem. People should have the choice IMO and stop treating everyone like children with no self restraint.  If you get the odd trouble maker, chuck them out or ban them, simple.

So Kilmarnock have sold out their allocation of 1600 for the North Stand.

I'm still wondering how Hibs managed to get 1700+ in there.
