ped reacted to beyond our ken in Danny Lennon interview
wardlaw has him as both wee and little.
With a vocabulary like that I'd say even his postie career was at risk

ped got a reaction from Big Jake in Harry Keiller cycles Johnstone street
Can't believe how well this one scrubbed up , the chrome is superb condition considering its age , purchased from Harry Keiller , paisley circa1978.
52cm 'youths bike' with an allegedly lightweight frame 'cadre allege'
Fully working bottle dynamo , wired in to the underside folds of the mudgaurds and with little braze ons just to hold the dynamo wire to the frame.
Originally with black bar tape but I thought red made it look more French.
Simplex derailuer in perfect condition and working all 5 gears perfectly.
About 30 hours work to strip clean, restore and completely rebuild , well worth it I think

Well I never said what age I was and that isnae my bike either , but it is a good example of a 7ts bike . As far as I know Harry didn't build the frames but had someone else do it and badge them up for him . .

. .anyway , back on topic . .
. .there was once a cycle shop in Johnston Street in Paisley. .

Never bought a bike from Harry but knew him fairly well back in the day , well enough to get a conversation out of him . He was a good wheel-smith and I got a couple of pairs of wheels from him over the years , he put a sticker on them which said HarKeil Wheels. .
He mainly stocked Peugeot bikes when I knew him and it was mainly the ones with heavy racks and heavy mudguards.
Dooleys was always a busier shop but they often had a woman on the counter who didn't know a spindle from a bottom bracket whereas Keiller knew his stuff as did the other guy who worked in the shop who was his nephew if I remember correctly. .

ped reacted to div in Alex Rae: sacked!
There you go, swift decisive action from the board. Can't argue with it. Imperative now that we take our time and get the next appointment spot on.

ped reacted to Gordy 1877 in COME ON YE SAINTS!
Didn't even get a mention on the bbc news that we had parted company with our manager, have we become that insignificant? It appears Joey Barton's petty squabbles are more important. So with that in mind, let's get behind the team and new manager whoever it may be and get us back where we belong! COYS.

Yeah but the twist is it actually IS Chris martin cleverly building himself a firewall so he can properly vent his disdain for the slobs who pay his wages ...........man!, I hate that guy !

Maybe we could have a midfield of peace , love and understanding ?

ped reacted to proudtobeabuddy in We Are Going To Get Relegated Again
If we don't have a mini clearout then we will be relegated. The BOD must back Alex Rae and enable him to do this, yesterday was pathetic and should result in a few players being shown the door asap. The "so called" experienced players are clearly past their best and we need more experienced players who are the right side of 30. The board will need to spend to save us from going down again, if they don't it's entirely their fault.

ped reacted to Kendo in We Are Going To Get Relegated Again
The benefit of hindsight was everyone apart from the BOD knew Tommy Craig was a crazy appointment. The alternative to Danny was whoever the BOD wanted.
They are reaping the seeds that they have sewn. To continually cut costs gets you to where we currently are.

ped got a reaction from Losing My Religion in We Are Going To Get Relegated Again
We will never know will we ?
And look how its gone since then ? Bad appointment after bad appointment, very poor judgement from a board (yes IMO starting with Lennon) who are failing to invest in the future of the club in order to possibly increase what they might personally take out of the club if they do ever sell it.
They must be kicking themselves ! It doesn't take a genius to know an SPFL club if worth more than a Championship club and so on.
We should be a shining model of a Scottish football club, we have all the infrastructure, a good business model (as football clubs go), non football revenue steams, our own training ground, a reportedly good youth system, a new stadium and potentially a larger fan base than we currently have.
Whilst no one want to see us in debt it seems to me that some investment, both in monetary terms and in the best available playing and coaching staff is essential.
It feels like we are in terminal decline and I really can only look back to Lennon's constructive sacking and wonder what if .. ?

ped reacted to Wilbur in January Window
I would expect Alex Rae's priority task to be an assessment of what he has in this squad and then to ship out those that don't fit in with his plans. IMO as many as 6 or 7 could depart in January with maybe as many new faces arriving. The idea of bringing in the likes of Sutton and/or Mehmet could be a step in the wrong direction. We should be looking ahead rather than backwards.

ped reacted to rabuddies in Billy Mehmet
Nobody has seen the guy play since 2010 and for the last 3 season he's played in Thailand, India and for 2 Malaysian teams. Now admittedly he scored a barrowload of goals in Malaysia but then he is 6'2" and the average height of Malay is 5'4". Give him a trial at Ralston if you must but what is the rush to sign an unknown quantity?

ped got a reaction from whydowebother in Billy Mehmet
Thought both were good if not prolific players for saints , but that was years ago !
Personally I found them both a wee bit frustrating to watch , especially Sutton , yes I know they scored important and memorable goals for us and mehmet was always a hard worker but we' d have to be mad to bring either of them back on anything less than the shortest of contracts or even a pay per play deal.
Just saying !!
