  1. My Mindfulness CD doesn't cope with play-offs!!!!
  2. Thanks Frank. I've found the fixture dates on the SPFL website and they are: Round 34: Sat 19th April Round 35: Sat 26th April Round 36: Sat 3rd May Round 37: Wed 7th May (but we normally play Tuesday) Round 38: Sat 10th May Is too simplistic to go H/A/H/A/H?
  3. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but does anybody know when the post split fixtures will be announced? Or, if anybody who understands how these things are worked out would care to have a guess at what / when the fixtures might be please feel free. The wife is doing my head in because I can't (or won't) commit to anything after the 5th of April. I thank you.
  4. I would think that most of them are probably, like me, born and bred in Paisley but adult life has meant a move to the local environs. I haven't lived in Paisley for over thirty years but I've always been about 30 minutes drive away. It never leaves you, you know?
  5. Dundee it has to be said are probably bigger than us. In their last SPL I think their average attendance was over 6,000. Their honours include a league title, a handful of league runner-up places and semi-finals in the European Cup and Fairs Cup. Like a lot of clubs they have fallen foul of over ambitious boards who tried to spend for success, with neither the money nor the brains to back it up. We have been lucky that our board have not been gullible enough to fall into that trap and we should be thankful. The fakes are a well run club which is why they punch above their weight - although it will be interesting to see if their new chairman can emulate his faither, in my view the most successful club chairman of the last 40 years.
  6. The standard of B&B's has increased by leaps and bounds in the last 5 years. True 4 star quality and braw breakfasts can be had for £80 / £90 per couple, per night. A good pub meal in the evening can be had in most places for £10 / £15, no problem. Spread your net wider my friend and remember island hotels have little or no competition, unlike the mainland where the next resting place is only a few miles up the road.
  7. Of course McLean is leaving. His motivation must be to maximise the income he can attract from the skills he has to offer - just like the rest of us. Why anyone would think otherwise is beyond belief. He was one of the few on the park on Saturday that seemed to know what he was doing. It didn't always come off but he covered every inch of the park in trying to make it work. He put in a hell of a shift on Saturday and I hope he gets a decent move and a good payday. We can't afford him, sad but true - mind you I hope he gets better than the blue bigots!!
  8. Owen Coyle would not look at us. He's earning 10 times what we could pay him sitting on his erse. He's sitting patiently waiting on the green bigots and Neil Lennon to part company 'cos he thinks the job is his to walk into. Thommo is a legend and a talisman but he is without any experience apart from on the field. I'm told he fancies a media career and now he's had a little bit of exposure and quite a lot of praise it might be difficult to turn him from that path.
  9. Care to make a few suggestions? Lots of people in the boozer after the game yesterday were saying the same thing but nobody came up with a name other than Ian Murray.
  10. Didn't notice Eremenko was playing today - he was a great player last time round. Although listening to the match report on the way home I guess "round" is pretty appropriate these days. Newton played quite well in breaking down Killie's play but going forward, goal apart, he was pretty poor.
  11. Not been there for many years. Used to go to the Whangie regularly in the 70's when I was climbing / abseiling and went to the pulpit a couple of times. Very tricky when wet, which is most of the time. Have a look at this link and judge for yourself? http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7866
  12. Grainger had a very serious injury before he joined us. To expect him to be back to full match fitness in less than 10 -15 games at SPFL level was asking too much. I thought he might have put in a better show in the second half of the season but its not to be. He needs a run of games and he needs them without constant barracking from fans week in, week out (that's Saints fans for you). If it frees up money then a move is the best for both sides. Good luck to him.
  13. Says "Saint In Exile", all the way from Dublin!!!!!!!!!!! Haarrrummmphhhh!!!!
  14. For the first time in years we get a real penalty box striker (if the cuttings are to be believed) and you want to play him wide right. Don't quite see where you're coming from?
  15. These stats are from Wiki. Isma scored 3 goals in 12 SPL games but got 5 in 4 cup games I think. Conversely, Rooney has 4 goals in 22 league games, his other 3 coming in cup games. You can bend stats to make any point you feel like but he hasn't scored in the league since October. Oldham have had financial problems over the years, including failing to pay wages and the consortium that owns them are, like our board, looking for a buyer. I can't see Rooney coming to us as even a skint League One club pays more than the SPFL, but who can tell?
  16. But then again, people are quite often pished on Hogmanay.
  17. bit, bit !!!! Complete and total you mean !!!
  18. Better than "quite good". Very knowledgeable in a number of sports and loved them all. I can still remember his coverage of the Munich Olympics in 1972 when he stayed behind the mike for hours and provided excellent coverage of the tragedy as it unfolded. He is also famous for his Colemanballs and I had the Private Eye book for years until it fell apart. These included: "If that had gone in, it would have been a goal." "The front wheel crosses the finish line, closely followed by the back wheel." "That's the fastest time ever run, but it's not as fast as the world record." "I think there is no doubt, she'll probably qualify for the final." and my all-time favourite: "Juantorena held them until the final bend and then he opened his legs and showed the rest of the field his class". Just brilliant. RIP David.
  19. Er, so far from the facts as reported. The police were called to a serious disturbance by a member of the public. Gowser was apprehended and taken to the Airdrie Police Station where he assaulted the police officers. The reason he pled guilty is that all police stations have a network of cctv cameras in all areas for exactly this reason. He couldn't say they made it all up 'cos they had the video evidence. Oh, and I believe the reason the the charges specifically referred to assault by kicking the officers was he couldn't punch them 'cos he was handcuffed. Daft boy and no excuses!!!
  20. I got an Ion Audio USB turntable about 4 years ago with the intention to convert all the vinyl that I hadn't got on cd to MP3 or FLAC. After 3 years I had successfully converted side one of Trick of the Tail. Three years ago I got a cassette to MP3 converter and to date I have converted one side of a Hancock's Half Hour. It takes hours to get the quality right. So, last year I bought a CD Ripper / Streamer, ripped all my CD's then sold them, downloaded as much of my vinyl as I could from the interweb (mostly purchased from sites like Soundike and the sadly missed Legal Sounds), connected it to my home network to stream the music I have on my PC and it all sits nicely in the lounge in a little black box with a network drive beside it for backup. The wife is happy that there's no CD's or Albums cluttering up the lounge and it's so much quicker and easier. A USB turntable works in real time, so 45 minutes to an hour to convert an album - CD Ripper takes 2 - 4 minutes, depending on the quality you choose. Mind you, I'm not selling my vinyl at any price and I still have turntable with a pre-amp connected to speakers in the home office when I get the need to hear the sound of the 60's they way it's meant to be heard. Hippies rejoice!!!!!!
  21. I remember on the way to the game thinking that at least we had the best seats in the house - Main Stand / Front Row. After 10 minutes we were sitting above ankle deep in icy water and facing the driving rain for the full 90 minutes. It's the only time after the game that I didn't order a pint when we got to a pub on the way home - I had two large rums and a bowl of lentil soup.
  22. I'm a wee bit worried about how long he might be in for!!!!
  23. Unfortunate for you, but how do you ask 5,000 people what time suits them? Probably a sensible, commercial decision. Personally, the day after Xmas or Ne'er day is better for me and probably most people who have family commitments.
  24. You know, it must be my age but Morton don't mean a thing to me "derby" wise. When I wer' a lad it was Killie that were our rivals except for a short period in the mid-60's. Mind you, I hate derbies, mainly because the football takes second place to some form of tribalism that bring the morons out.
