    Happy New Year.

As a shareholder I have received a copy of the full accounts for May 2021 to May 2022. Over a stiff drink tonight I have noted the following points you may wish to consider. I will probably not comment further until after the AGM. There are a number of obvious questions that need to be asked and hopefully answered at the AGM. My accountancy skills are a bit rusty. Maybe I have misunderstood some of the important details – God, I hope that I have. I’m not going to waste time sparring with some of the childish regulars on here.

The cold facts are that the current board enriched with the financial “expertise” of our Kibble partners appear to have managed to turn a profit of around half a million pounds into a loss of 1.5 million pounds in short the space of 12 months. That in itself is quite an achievement.

The £1,598,506  loss divided by 365 days is £4379 a day.

No doubt Covid will be blamed but you have to remember that the furlough scheme should have covered much of the wage bill and the government have loaned the club £1.7 million.

Even so the wage bill has gone from £2.8 million to £3.5 million. The number of players has gone from 37 to 39 but the number of management and admin staff has gone from 38 to 75. That is around two management and admin staff for every player. I presume (sincerely hope) there is a plausible explanation for this I just can’t think what it might be.

Importantly cash at the bank is down from £2.7 million in May 2021 to £972 thousand in May 2022 that is a reduction of about £145K a month. So what is the current cash balance?  Say 6 months of losses at £145 K is £870K. Take that away from the May 2022 figure of £972K and there is a lot to worry about. Possibly £100K left at present? I hope we can sell a couple of players to help the cash flow.

Kibble claimed they would “bring our commercial expertise to St Mirren”. Perhaps that is the kind of expertise we could all have lived without.

Mention is made in the preceding narrative of “exceptional costs” but I cannot see any actual figures that directly relate to this statement. I assume this may partly be the rumoured very large cost overrun at Ralston but is hard to imagine what £1 million plus of “exceptional costs” could be.

You have to also ask why this financial situation has not been made very clear to SMISA members many months ago. After all they own most of the club.

PS To anyone quoting recent increased attendance at home games – please ask yourself how many of these are free tickets.

Now I think I need another drink.

See you all at the AGM.

Very good post for a change on this forum. It pretty much sums up all our fears that the club has not been run with due dilligence and it pains me to say it as i have friends on the board. In days gone by we had directors(all St Mirren fans) who had a very much hands on approach to their role at the club assisted by an exceptional CEO  Brian Caldwell . They had their finger on the pulse ensuring we did not overspend our budget and no-one was ever given carte blanche to spend more than we had. Now is not the time though to go through the negatives as i  never believe looking back is a good thing. I now trust our board (with Smisa board backing) with their plan to get us back on an even keel.

Mistakes will always be made. Its how we learn from them that will define us going forward and if we all pull together as a fan base ie Smisa/supporters clubs etc we can get back on track. We are after all St Mirren fans. Equal and in it together.

So its all the Kibbles fault and SGG will come in and save us through the back door of a SMISA membership. Your having a laugh.

I’m with JJM i did not pay my SMISA membership to pay off the SGG clique then allow him to still sit at the table. The clique spent years and failed to sell the club. They were not it even interested in selling to SMISA.. It took for GLS to put his SMISA/GLS deal to them for it to be pushed through. It was only accepted as there were no other offers. The clique could have at the very onset offered fans ownership as the model for selling their shares. NOPE !! They touted the club around the market in the hope a sugar daddy would appear with bars of gold to take their shares. (Remember they deliberately omitted other shareholders from the clique to maximise their own return)

There is some contradictions in your post. Initially you claim to have an insight to the apparent abyss in the running of the club then next your stating that you need to wait until the accounts are lodged on Companies House to find the official line.

One of the other shareholders invited a Rangers contact in and showed him our books. The purpose was that if Rangers went down the tubes they would buy us and reinvent themselves in the top division.Obviously this did not happen as he was rumbled. You call the clique charlatans.JJM is a friend of mine and he will now know that a lot of the statements made in previous posts on this thread were indeed true.We all want the best for St Mirren at the end of the day and must work together towards financial stability and a great product on the park. That has to be balanced though in my opinion.

It’s almost as if some want St Mirren to fail 🤷

I think John that we have  fans who are rightly concerned that we have overspent. We have attracted players with international experience who do not come cheap and as such blew our budget out the water.Add the spiralling costs at Ralston, and yes its fair to say we are not in the best financial situation at the moment. Its how the board are reacting to this that will define us going forward.Income must be more than expenditure to overcome any deficit we are accruing.

We should not think that all the supporters questioning the finances want us to fail or are mischievous but are indeed just concerned fans.St Mirren football club, next to family is the most important part of most of our lifes and i do not know of anyone who would want us to fail.

Exactly, this is the issue being addressed yet some of our fans lose their mind over a small error that was corrected very quickly. There was a time where this sort of response from corners of the St Mirren support would have surprised me, not anymore.

I have confidence the actual concerns will be adequately addressed and dispelled at the meeting for anyone applying rational thought. There will of course still be the typical responses from some fans for whom, SMFC can do little right.

Remember we are apparently in a situation similar to Derby after all... 🤣

My concerns were always turnover/treatment of staff,/having to pay out of court settlements for staff./season ticket chaos/Involving HMRC./Rangers and Celtic fans on our board,/Stewarding contracts/catering contracts/.As a season ticket holder,Smisa monthly contributor and sponsor i feel i have every right to ask questions and if that is construed as moaning then i am guilty as charged.I dont hide behind a keyboard. My name is Ian Brown Snr.

You are well of the mark. To put your mind at rest, not that I have to explain, but I do object to you questioning my passion for St Mirren.

Lets just say my support goes back to the days of Walker, Lapsley etc.,  (In case you are to young that was 1957) And continues to this day.

I have no thoughts on your speculation (since you have not provided proof) on Kibble actions.

Me, an employee of Kibble is a joke. The closest connection I have or had to Kibble was walking (or sometimes running) 4 times past their front door on the Greenock Road on a Saturday to and from the Racecourse to play football.

Neither do I have any connection with Smisa. Never been a member, so no nothing about their arrangements for representatives to the Board.

I am not outraged (past that), your words, but I do expect the Chairman of an Institution that I have been a member of for many years to represent me in a professional manner.

Nearly forgot. Not me that leaked the tweet since I not on it. ( To easy to cause problems!)

Please don't loose the point, It has nothing to do with the "joke" THAT IS NOT THE BIG PICTURE but his lack of thought of the consequence is.

From my experience, Companies that I have been employed by have standards that their employees or their representatives are expected to abide by or suffer the consequences. (Failure normally led to a sacking)

If our "man" has the best interest of OUR St Mirren at heart he shall do the right thing and resign before his disciplinary meeting later to-day and not drag the club down any further.

That was my thought when I saw this thread.

Not going to dwell on it or let it distract from supporting the team, but to me its a clear warning not to trust the people running the club as I did before. Combined with my concerns over how money has been wasted over the past couple of years it has me looking at things very differently now.

They /he will not retract the statement and i,m told it was watered down as he wanted to say so much more.. I have not been asked to the meeting tomorrow but no surprise there as my relationship with the club is at an all time low but its funny how they were all my pals when getting Kyle to sign a contract extension.

The influence Scott has over Smisa is almost dictatorial. You will find interviews where he states that "its good prospective smisa club board candidates have to spend time on the Smisa committee before being elected"

basically that is saying the next smisa club board rep is already picked, and is currently on the smisa board. Regardless of the fact much more better, equipped, knowledgeable, connected and business savvy potential candidates are not on the Smisa committee.

what this does, and its wholly intentional is put people, not on the Smisa committee off ever considering standing to be the fans board rep. And that is the biggest carve up in this whole sorry tale. Anyone electing  to put themselves forward now, who isnt on tne Smisa committee will be taking on the same odds as they would if they decided to go toe to toe with Putin in the Russian election.

I  have never intended sitting on the committee of either the fans council or Smisa due to constant bickering and backbiting by people who claim to have the best interests of the club at heart.I often despair listening to members of both belittling each other and even worse the splits in their own camps. The position of board member puts you up there to be shot at and i applaud anyone who takes this position as they will be branded Gordons puppet from the outset.I do not think for a minute that the position can or will be Gordons decision overall but i,m sure he would not allow the appointment any old muppet.Thats why i,m not running.

Time to take a deep breath or 2 and give the gaffer a bit of time to put this right.

I was more wound up after the Spartans game than I was after the game last night.  His interview acknowledges the shortcomings and work to be done. He's ripped up the squad so the onus is on him to put it right. We're all a bit panicked at the early signs but let's give him a chance.

We've still got a good number of players to be signed. A quantity of players that should transform the team if he gets this next batch of recruitment right. The pressure is on him to do that but he's known that all along.

He didn't come here to fail and it's not going to do us any good turning on him at this stage.

C'mon Stubbsy - let's get on with it!

At the moment it feels like your glamorous girlfriend who gave you 11 beautiful children has left you and she has been substituted by an unglamorous girl with children who dont or cant do as they are told.I hope that their ipads are taken from them and they are exercised to full fitness and shown what it means to play at this level.Adding a few more siblings who they can actually learn from may bring us future joy and happiness.

On a serious note we have always said we are in this together,St Mirren family etc.Alan and the players will get my full backing and i will judge them over the next few months. Its far to early to start swinging the meat cleaver.Come on you Saints.

    Macgennis isn't going to Sunderland!

N'Dong is subject of a £7m bid today and it looks like he will be sold. If that happens there is a possibility that Ross might sign McGinn for around £2.5m, but Magennis isn't happening. The Morgan story has come from one of the fan sites who listed 5 potential new signings for Ross to make. There's no credence to it at all.

Macgennis. Is that the haggis munching guy who runs about Penilee.

P.s you,re not as well informed as you like to think you are Stu.

That doesn't equate to a higher transfer fee.

It does as some clubs wait on players contracts running down and pounce for smaller transfer fees as the selling club would get nothing if said contract runs out.Kyle will command a bigger transfer fee and i know that there has been interest in him already.Hopefully there will be a bidding war when the time comes as more money to the club and more money to Kyle.Win win for me personally.

Is it a rumour Jack is coming in for Josh ?  Who knows but just in case here is my tuppence worth. Good luck Jack and very much thank you what a manager.  This a guy who looks after number one but also is a bit of a unionist. Great players love him he will fight their  corners.  But Mr Scott unless Josh is let go for outrageous money I will not renew my season ticket. Have been faithful for 50 odd years  seen all this played out before many times . Very disappointing Jack you obviously love chess  . Stand up to this Mr Scott & Tony anything less than 3 to 5 million I will not renew the season ticket. I ask Saints fans to stand up to this to this disgusting behaviour by a former hero.  Anyway if Saints fans are willing to accept  few hundred grand with a sell on clause of 35.35 % then good on you. Now from this decision I will know what direction the club is heading over to you Gordon and Tony.

I,m taking it you mean Kyle who is very much admired by Jack and James. For the record he is on a long term deal with us and i would be extremely disappointed if he was sold for peanuts like previous young players.Kyle will go at some point and that will mean he and the club have been successful and hopefully this will make our club a lot more money than we have received in the past.I,ve also got to put my other hat on and hope that Kyle gets a move that makes him financially secure for the rest of his life.If thats at Sunderland then so be it and i know that he will be well looked after.

If on the other hand you really meant Josh then hold out for 3 million. In fact he,s priceless.

  13. Yesterday i received the awful news that our fellow Saints fan and friend Kenny Pointon had passed away after bravely fighting cancer.Kenny and i were brought up together staying in the same close in Glenburn. He decided at an early age that despite his father being a Rangers fan he would follow St Mirren(no pressure at all from the family upstairs).Kenny and his wife Karen contributed to the good of our club behind the scenes for many years and we are extremely grateful for that. You will be sadly missed mate.Another Saints fan taken far too young.

    Really good question.

First off we don't have double, we have roughly 1,250 or 25% above the target of 1,000. Those figures are actually slightly better as the 1,000 was based on members paying the standard £12 a month. I believe roughly 12% of members pay the higher £25 but I could be wrong.

The following figures are very rough but they highlight how healthy BTB really is right now ,(I think) because I have based them on a slightly worse case scenario with 1,250 members because we have a few more than that.

Doing some maths the plan was based on £10 (£2 discretionary fund) for 1,000 members for 10 years = £1.2 Million (the plan also factored for a level of drop off under 1,000 and taxation/ fees)

Doing some very rough maths based on 1,250 members 12% paying £25 with the same target of £1 Million, details below:

If members stay consistent and we went over the full 10 years (which we wouldn't have to if it stayed consistent) the plan would be worth £1,734,000

Again if it stayed consistent at current members (again rough numbers) the plan would complete in 57% of the stated 10 year deadline date or very roughly after five years and seven months.

All these figures don't take into account taxation (That bit gets somewhat confusing the way we're doing this) and fees so best guess I'd say we're currently on track to complete roughly after 6 and a half to seven years.

In summary BTB is ahead of schedule and in a very healthy position, There is no reason we won't finish ahead of schedule (maybe not quite five years but certainly looking less than 10)  one of the main reasons for my Yes vote as I associate the risk to absolutely minimal, even if we see a drop-off.

More signed up members makes this even stronger. I sincerely wish people wouldn't let the £2 fund cloud their judgement of the big picture.

The magical figure i was told when joining up was 700 .I also feel this is the time for another recruitment drive while we are riding the crest of the wave starting with the club dinner on Saturday. What an opportunity with over 500 people and business owners in abundance.Buy the Buds leaflets should be on every table.
