Yep, love the early rounds of the Scottish Cup.
Scottish football fans love to moan about everything, but if it wasn't for the BBC where would we be? Listening to Super Scoreboard? No thanks.
One thing I don't like is moving games with a long away trip to a Friday night. I even felt sorry for Morton fans with their away fixture in Inverness moved to a Friday. Basically means no away support and a good Saturday day out gone form the fixture card.

Maybe Lord Pityme could go support Hamilton?
Embarrassing club for embarrassing supporters.
Fair play to Brian Rice though, could have made a big deal of that and hoped another gullible ref fell for it.
Shameful for the SFA to be wasting time with this though.

Surely Mullen in for Andreu next week. Immediately obvious how little Andreu brings once we had Mullen on the park yesterday.

Outwith the two cheeks only Cosgrove scored more than 10 league goals last season, what exactly are folk expecting of our strikers ???
Goals?

Kemp says half a dozen posts back that Morais and Obika have been missing chance after chance yet here we have someone else watching the same games saying they have hardly had a shot . I personally tend to agree more with Santaponsa, I don't recall either getting too many chances possibly one each a game at most which is awful service to be judging strikers on.
I include Andreu in the places that Mullen could take. Aberdeen (multiple times), Rangers & Livingston games all had excellent chances created that Mullen would have put in the net. Actually, I would have put them in the net - some of these were tap ins really.
Our playing style obviously isn't shoot on sight. We are trying to work the ball in to good positions in the box. It is not true to state big chances haven't been created, we would have several more points on the board had Mullen been on the pitch to put away those chances.

McGinn also hasn’t been picked for the reserve games recently either.
Unless there is another injury then it looks like he is being frozen out.Cammy can play centre midfield or right back. Is that why he's on bench?
Yes, there is that....but Djorkaeff or one of the others could have also made way.

We have, arguably improved our defence by bringing in Waters, Broadfoot and Maglaughlan. Losing Popesco was a blow.
Not seen anything to suggest Waters and McLoughlin are improvements yet.
What type of an effort to spell McLoughlin was that anyway, Ricky?Hang your head in shame.

Danny's a hard worker and gives his all for the team but I'd hardly class him as a proven goal scorer.
5 league goals last season compared to Simeon Jackson who arrived in September and scored six goals before the end of the season.
Hard to see where goals are going to come from this season as both our main strikers (Morias & Obika) have had poor starts and don't seem to offer much up front.Mullen was signed because he is a goalscorer. 33 goals from 87 starts at Livingston.
Last season we were a shambles other than the final 10 games, Mullen scored 4 important goals in a team set up to play defensively / negatively.
He will score goals if on the park and given good service. After the way he ended last season I was really looking forward to seeing him this year. Very frustrating to see him on the bench while Obika and Morias miss chance after chance.

Can someone point me in the direction of some statistical analysis that proves this theory that "new strikers need time to bed in"?
While I thank the above posters for the examples, I don't think just saying "Billy Mehmet" or "Ally McCoist" quite meets the criteria of a statistical analysis.
"Strikers take time to bed in" just seems such a glib and pointless phrase.

I didn't "dig deep", he sprung to mind!
Why ask for something then act all high and mighty if you get a direct answer to a direct question?
Hungover?

But he "bedded in"!
If we are going this deep with the statistical analysis....
...Mark Yardley scored within a minute on his debut. Good strikers know the way to goal.

It took him about half a decade!

If Mullen is the option then yes. No I'm not happy with what we have up front at the moment either. New stikers and may take time to bed in etc but at the moment not good enough and needs to improve

Mullen puts the ball in the net. These guys don't.
It's pretty clear who to start if we want to start picking up points.

Doubt any of them will start next week and rightly so !
Broadfoot only if McKenzie isn't fit
You are happy with what we have up front at present?

Danny Mullen is a proven goal scorer. He is a better player than Andreu, Obika and Morias combined.
If it wasn't for Mullen's goals at the end of last season we would have been relegated.
Why is he not starting every week?
I think Goodwin is trying a bit hard to put his mark on the team. Get McGinn and Mullen back on the pitch as of next week!
-
As has been posted elsewhere sub standard recruitment in the summer has left us struggling.
Goodwin is a good manager and I trust he will get the best out of what we have.
I hope to see Broadfoot, McGinn and Mullen start next week as a stronger spine of the team. A few players in the current line up are not up to the task.

Ban the cretin and all his aliases please.

It would be really hard to drop foley or Flynn at the moment, don’t see why he shouldn’t be on the bench though at least!
Flynn could easily be dropped for his performance against Livingston.

I notice in this interview about Goodwin states that Kyle Magennis is "captain here for now"
Stephen McGinn didn't even make the bench for our last game against Livingston. He was in the stand and said he was fit & ready to go. I understand him not walking back in to the team, but it seemed odd him not even being on the bench.
It doesn't sound like Goodwin is thinking of asking Kyle to hand the captain's armband back tomorrow either.
I will be interested to see the team tomorrow. Is McGinn going to be in Goodwin's plans at all?

And this was not a "SMISA bad" post, but rather let's get it right and make sure that the organisation and more importantly it's members are adequately protectedHe doesn't understand the difference.

You wouldn't expect a club to go running to the SFA over it though.
Hopefully Kyle gets some revenge on them with a few goals later in the year.
