  1. Alloa were certainly fast on the break playing against us last season. Hopefully we can indeed get the players in to play similarly this season.
  2. Wait....who said those in charge were doing nothing?
  3. Goodwin says he is an old fashioned winger who can put a good ball in to the box. Would be nice! Durmus says he watched videos of us last season and it "looked good" and made him "want to come here". Wonder which club was really on the video?
  4. Any more good news coming this morning? Oh man, what a mess.
  5. McAllister is an outstanding player, it would be a great signing to have him back for the season. That is really about the best standard of player we can hope to bring in. We do need better than Jordan White as our main striker though. Stevie May would certainly do the job! We live in hope.
  6. No he isn't. Take a day off making up pish will you!

I would have thought the cost of running a steam powered engine to keep your lights on would have been a bigger barrier than this.....
  9. It is never nice to lose a valued and respected member of the community.
  10. The principal goal was to ensure stability even in the result of a change of manager. In this respect it has been a complete failure. I'm not sure what some people are failing to grasp here. We are out the League Cup already (a very important tournament for us financially), have been humiliated by non league opposition and we are holding training sessions 1 week before the start of the season with half the team missing. There is no "so far", it has failed. Even if Popescu, Isma, McAllister and Stevie May were all to sign this week it doesn't change the fact that having a DoF has not helped at all in preparation for this season. Let me just say, looking at the non stop stream of nonsense coming from our Chairman and directors, I do not blame Gus MacPherson at all for the situation.
  11. *It appears to be bare bum boxing against a mentally subnormal supporter with a toilet fixation. Not the way we wanted to start the season at all.
  12. It was there about an hour ago. Out of order. Not good. Alan Wardrop seems to be stirring it up himself though by referring repeatedly as "failed businessman Rodney Darroch..." who is a friend of SG. Seems to be someone he had a falling out with over money. Obviously he is free to spend his own money on whatever he chooses. He shouldn't complain about things getting personal when he is doing it himself though.
  13. The thread title doesn't mention Gus MacPherson, the original post is asking if the position of "DoF" / "Chief Moneyball Officer" is a realistic one for a club of our size. Has GM been properly supported? Were budgets not properly worked out at the start of the summer? There could be numerous reasons why this window has been a disaster, but I have never seen a job title created with such fanfare and self congratulatory backslapping only for it so publicly miss all of its targets!
  14. Lesson certainly learned from last year, but I am just amazed that given we have known for 10 or 11 months that serious squad rebuilding was required - and people were brought in to help with this - we are sat here with half a team missing! It really is quite a remarkable situation, even by St Mirren standards.
  15. Significantly backed? Or frittered away hard earned transfer fees to the point we now can't compete in the transfer market? Either way, GLS has not put his hand in his pocket at any point. St Mirren may have backed their managers, GLS has sacked them!
  16. Correct. Safe to assume the rest such as us chasing after the Celtic ladies coach is a load of pish as well! People do talk nonsense after a couple of shandies!
  17. Firstly, Stewart is quite right to ask where all the money has gone and why we don't have enough players! Additionally, if you are the type of fanny to spend money on personalised number plates then you deserve all the abuse that you get! He's got off quite lightly if anything.
  18. I wonder how much time Oran Kearney spent on attacking drills and shape like Bournemouth are doing here. From the complete lack of movement every time we were in the opposition half last season I would suspect very little. I honestly didn't understand how a team of professionals could have all week to work on a plan and come out with so little every time.
  19. Victims of their own success to a degree. A load of them wanted Tommy Wright out last season! They don't know how good they have it. St Johnstone in stature and nature are a Championship club. Hopefully this might be the season they return to their rightful place.
  20. Well hopefully Killie are f**ked as well then! Somehow I doubt they are playing competitive games without a left back though.
  21. I suppose we can look at it as a positive that we are not engaging in any panic signings! I hold out some hope that we are going to see 4 or 5 top quality players coming in that require a bit of patience. It has been a botched job again this summer, but all I care about now is seeing a team put together that can actually compete once the league starts.
  22. As far as I am aware Killie and St Johnstone didn't lose / release a full team of players at the end of the season either.
