  1. I thought the assist for the second goal went to Tanser. Kwon was subbed off in the 58th minute.
  2. Are there any further updates on who the two players are that we have offered PCAs for? Do we know if the players in question have accepted these or are we still waiting for responses? That might give us a clue as to who will be leaving when their contract expires in the summer.
  3. Scott played for Robinson when he was Motherwell boss but I thought he was more of a winger. I seem to recall he scored a belter against us at Fir Park when Hladky was our Goalkeeper. However, he had a loan spell at Hibernian recently and didn’t exactly do much. I would pass on him as I think we can get better.
  4. What are your thoughts on Scott Robinson from Livingston? Decent player to add to the squad or not worth the while? Could he add something or do we need more quality than that to take us to the next level?
  5. Decided to comment on the Ayr United Facebook Page asking how Urminsky played yesterday? I got a response this Morning saying that he done well for someone who came in at short notice. Their fans are saying he couldn’t do anything about the goal as it was a great strike from distance! The only criticism was that his kicking appears to be the weakest part of his game! The communication was poor between the Goalkeeper and Defence but as pointed out above, they didn’t get much time to integrate! Their club is in a bit of mess at the moment and it would be great for the lads confidence if he helps them survive. As a previous post alluded to, it’s great experience for him!
  6. Under Contract until the Summer of 2022. Won’t be leaving unless somebody else wants him or there is a deal between him and the Club to be released a year early.
  7. From what I have heard and read about previous performances he is more of a Forward. The boy Henderson played in what appeared to be a more advanced midfield role in the bounce games before the season kicked off. I unfortunately don’t know if others can comment on their best positions or if they could step up and contribute in the remainder of the games? I suppose Jim will need to use everybody at his disposable or some players might burn out!
  8. I would slightly disagree with you Tommy. At the moment I have no idea on the status of Mason. However, as I see it, we have 6 players who can cover 4 positions along the back. Fraser, McCarthy, Shaughnessy, Tait, Mason & Finlayson. Also, while not ideal, MacPherson, Flynn and even Erahon can cover the full back roles. I’m pretty sure the club would have been looking to bring in cover but sometimes if a player doesn’t fit then it’s best to continue with what you have! I would rather that way than panic buying, just for the sake of signing a player. If you look at the signings the clubs around us have made then very few of them standout. A lot of them scream desperation and are simply to appease fans. I would rather get a few points on the board in the next few games and consolidate our position in the League. This will allow us to nip in ahead of a few teams. Thus allowing us to sign players for next season, earlier than they can.Might mean we have extra money in the Summer Budget!
  9. While you may well be right and Baird will end up in the Championship, I don’t think that’s a glowing endorsement from the manager in not trusting him to replace either of the other Centre Backs. In your opinion who would you say is better cover? I know that Foley is a far superior player but you always want him in the midfield. I don’t think it’s great to be shifting players around the positions unless you are struggling with injuries.
  10. Can’t really disagree with anything you have said there Gary. I would bring the new Striker in next week and partner him with Obika. Baird has to start. If you keep Foley in the midfield then you have more chance of protecting the back four. I would also bring McGrath into the role that McAllister has been playing. Bring Kyle on later in the game. Our problem at the moment is ball retention. If we could up our game in that department then the games could become more comfortable for us. I think having Flynn and Magennis back in the midfield will obviously be massive to us. A wee bit more positivity is all that is needed. If you look at pretty much all games this season then two goals are all that is required to win games. There’s not been too many high scoring draws. It’s a missed opportunity today but I think that shows where we have come when we are slightly disappointed with seven points from the first twelve.
  11. When is a decision due for the Striker from PSV? I don’t want this potential transfer taking ages to sort out, only to be told it’s a definitive No. You would hope the club have set a deadline date and if there is no reply then we move on to another target. It would be good to get a Striker in before the international break. Allowing them time to settle in and then push for a starting position in the resumption of the league games. Personally I’m being greedy and hope the budget can stretch to two forwards.
  12. The only thing I find puzzling about finding Striking Targets is that the club were potentially looking to spend £50k on Mark O’Hara. If they had a small amount of cash in reserve, I would have thought they might be able to tempt a couple of Strikers by offering a small bid. They don’t need to be of a high quality but enough to contribute a few goals and form a partnership with Obika.
  13. We started the 2006/2007 season with two wins if I remember correctly. We beat ICT 2-1 Away and then beat Motherwell 2-0 at Home. Going to Parkhead for Game Three we were Top of the League.
  14. I see Greg Stewart is not on the Rangers Bench this Evening. Would he be worth bringing in on loan for the season? If deployed in a central role like he was at Kilmarnock then he could do a job for us. Not likely to get much time with Morelos (as long as he is still at the club), Roofe, Itten & Defoe ahead of him. Even if he was to play wide then Barker, Jones, Hagi & Kent all appear to be ahead of him. It certainly would be beneficial to both us and the player!
  15. I believe I could be the only one that thinks this but if we are going to stick with the lone Striker it might make more sense to start Morais. For all the quality might not be there I think we need a Striker who is going to chase and hound their two central defenders. Kilmarnock pressed Celtic from the front and didn’t allow them to get into a rhythm. Big John does a great job at leading the line in most games, when he gets the support but this is a game where we will unfortunately be on the back foot for long periods. If you watch the Kilmarnock forward on Sunday, he ran the channels very well and dragged Julien & Ajer out of position. Our two wide men need to be disciplined in there cover of the opposing two full backs as I thought we got exposed on the wings an awful lot on Sunday when the two Rangers full backs overlapped. I agree with a post above. I would bring Thorvaldsson in and play him off Morais. Get the two of them to chase everything in the Celtic half of the pitch. Run themselves into the ground and then assess the game at the hour mark. Potentially bring on Obika. Who will be fresh and he could potentially look to unsettle Julien & Ajer. 4-4-1-1 for me. Same back four & goalkeeper. Move MacPherson back infield and partner him with Foley. Durmus & McGrath on the wings. Thorvalsson in behind Morais.
  16. The one positive to draw from today’s game is that we have found ourselves a very competent Goalkeeper in Alnwick. A number of fine stops and his handling was excellent. Strikes a very good clean ball and is very sharp of his line. Also not scared to punch the ball when required. At the end of the day nobody would compare to Vaclac but I am certainly not worried with Alnwick as my last line of defence. Hands down (no pun intended) our MOM this Afternoon.
  17. What about Kane Hemings? I see he has cancelled his contract with Dundee by mutual consent. I know a lot of his goals in Scotland aren’t in the top flight but he has scored goals for the vast majority of teams he has played for. We would be able to pay more than his wage reduction was at Dundee, plus there would be no transfer fee. I think he would offer a viable option to partner Obika.
  18. I noticed that Marcus Fraser rejected a new contract with Ross County. Previous Captain and nearly 200 appearances for the club. I believe he is a Right Back but can also play Centre Back. At 25, he is still a good age and has plenty of SPL experience. Somebody surely within our wage budget and would allow Flynn to push up into Midfield.
  19. Hodson started his time at Rangers as a Right Back but was equally comfortable as a Left Back. To be honest, he can play both sides but he is Right footed. He could provide options for either full back position. Either allowing Flynn to push forward or taking over from Waters.
  20. I noticed that Lee Hodson wasn’t selected in the Gillingham squad for their game this evening. Wonder if we have enquired about a loan deal until the end of the season or he is just injured?
  21. McGowan not being kept on at St Mirren was all down to off field problems not footballing ability. What's the point in keeping a player who behaves like that? Not worth a deal in my opinion. I think you are being extremely harsh on Mallan there Norrie. McLean was inconsistent and wasn't liked by all when he was in his first season, so I think Mallan deserves a bit of support, the boy has come a long way since his debut. Look at the player that McLean has become now! We will hold on to McLean and look to sell him on in the summer. The players that have been released was the right call, regardless of who has been brought in. If we had other strikers I would argue that Ball would have gone as well. I would rather struggle on with McLean upfront than had any of the three Craig signings in the Team. Ball has had about five minutes in the last three games. Teale is having to deal with the mess that Tommy Craig left us with. I think an experienced manager would also have struggled in this situation. I will agree with most posters who note that the board have implemented too many cutbacks over the last couple of seasons. I can understand the reasons but you can't expect to survive every season on this basis. People also forget that clubs like St Mirren don't really operate in the Transfer Window. After the 2nd of February, we will not be able to loan players (my understanding) but we can still bring in free agents. I am sure a lot of clubs will be letting players go during this final full week, somebody might just appear who can do a job for us until the end of the season.
  22. There was a news article around a week ago relating to Ben Williams who said that he was moving back to England when his contract expired. I think he was off regardless of whether they won or lost yesterday. I think that one is a Non Starter unless he has a change of heart.
  23. Just get him in on loan for the start of next season. What an asset he would be with a full pre season under his belt.
  24. Barney : Liam Buchanan NOT Injury Prone? You should probably look at his appearances over the last two seasons before making that Statement! Speak to a Thistle supporter in my work. He seems to be injured quite often.
