Still rather Samson than Cornell any day
-
It's going to be a long season.
-
Oaksoft I have thought it for a while and never said but my your such a bore
-
At last a company who seems to respect the scottish game. Tonight despite not a mention on st.mirren the scottish football review show was on and it was a great show. Derek Rae was joined by big eck and Michael Stewart and at last we have had something rather than the game and five mins analysis. For all they won't beat sky . sky pay the scottish game lip service at best

If its October and its not happening then we must act if its march we may be down already
-
Well it is right and seeing as there is a budget the manager clearly doesn't feel the urgent need we all do to supplement the striking options
-
It's so boring. Clearly the lad is wanting the championship and that's that. Move on and get someone in quick! I actually can't be bothered now. We are a wee team with no intention of progressing to the next level so lets get on with the fight to beat the drop cos with our tiny squad we all know in our heads that its going to be a long long season
-
I'm telling you with one striker on the books were going to struggle. When have we ever walloped county or Inverness for that matter or actually anyone in the spl. Great start for Patrick who I still think will struggle but maybe not as bad as us
-
I think hearts will make the playoff. Saints will be 10th
-
Well, for a start, the young Premier League players are generally much higher quality than SPL ones.
Campbell is rated much higher than Dummett/Newton and he's one of the best young prospects in British football. We'd be crazy not to take him. Stokes was the last 18 year old striker from the Premier League to be given a proper chance in the SPL, scored 14 in 16 games.
If that's the case he won't be coming to us. If he is as good as you say he will be in the championship
-
Cheesy vast improvement from him but still a v average player
-
Webster would be decent. Better than any centre half we have. Would love to see him and McGregor at the back as I think Webster needs someone beside him with an extra yard of pace
Mcgregor ? This lad is decent but trust me not anywhere as good as many on here dream of
-
I think after the friendly we will win this
-
Bit harsh on thommo but he does need a partner who has pace.
-
Have you ever bought a jigsaw and been pissed off when there is a bit missing?
Whether any St. Mirren player is one of the four corners of that jigsaw or the bit in the very middle, they are all bits of the St. Mirren jigsaw.
Our management team believe John Robertson has a role to play in our "jigsaw" and therefore good luck to the player.
Eh?

Love streets went quiet

Good question yards. I have nothing against John but he isn't spl level or anywhere near it
-
Newton is a good player but as an attack we have 35 yr old Steven Thompson and nobody else
-
Yes gus was on a one year rolling deal. I believe the club simply paid him his years notice . Prob part of the reason Danny was brought in with a much lower salary. According to my reliable source gus was on silly money as manager
-
Well if we're bringing in two loan players and that's it were more or less praying we have no injuries or suspensions which you and I know ain't gonna happen. To be honest we're going to be pretty pish this year and the fans on here know it. Sure we will have the occasional high but I'm afraid 10th is the best we will get as killie our rivals for 9th are about to bring in new talent. Bit sad and really a bit boring if I'm honest. If Newton returns then its clear that John Robertson is finished well we all know that anyhow but I would think he should go on loan until his contracts up. Also David Barron who is injured a lot and even when fit Danny doesn't fancy him he would be as we'll away on loan too. Maybe they two leaving would free up a smallish wage for an extra striker maybe an older player in case thommo is out?
-
Maybe they won't sack Danny but I see no long term plan and I see a very thin squad who will be beaten most weeks unless they have new hardened pros added to help them. I also think that if we are struggling at November or December the board may opt to change then as Danny will have just 6months left in his contract then.
-
I thought his contract ran out.
BTW even if he was sacked, in relation to every other club, we are clearly not into sacking managers on a whim.
We can't afford to sack him and we add more players than we already have at the same time.
I think Danny is safe for the time being. End of the season is the time to change managers.
Gus was on a 1 year rolling contract so he was sacked
-
The depth of the squad can be revisited when the transfer window shuts. It would nice to have the squad complete now, but if it takes until 31st August, it's not the end of the world.
We were 7th in the First Division when we signed John Sutton and Charlie Adam on deadline day.
There are concerns about Danny Lennon, but the effect of the League Cup Final on the remainder of last season's league campaign gives him enough slack, for now, but another season of bottom feeding won't do.
And you believe that the current squad will be anything but that. I see what's happening here not building on our success. Well my friend get set for a v u happy season

Goodwin can be excused but the rest you got right

Oaksoft you highly intelligent man why don't you relax I mean look I'm relaxing and it ain't that bad. Accept we're going to be fighting the drop and then come back and embrace it. Really it is the best way and you being so educated shouldn't be biting so hard at these posts
