I think I take your general point, however. We need a solid, experienced core to the team, and without Thommo and Goodwin, that falls to Cheesy at the back. He doesn't quite tick the 'solid' box for me, as he it too prone to becoming flustered and letting his head drop.
An experienced centre half should be the absolute priority as we approach the closing of the transfer window. I'd pass up on the Drury deal in favour of this acquisition if necessary. If we sign one more player, it should be a centre half, though its a close run thing with a holding midfielder.

I used to avoid Clyde after they lost the rights to live updates and commentary but in recent years it has been actually quite good with a fair amount of saints chat on it. We're weaker too at present., Harkins and McGowan were paid well and mcgregor wouldn't have been playing for free. What I would like to see is us using the cash to bring in two or three proven spl players to enhance the squad and help take us to the next level. If you load the team with youth we will undoubtedly struggle

The strips are totally embarrassing. We really need to get a fan involved so that the people we the fans can have a say on what we are wearing. I know it's only a kit but It is good to walk out feeling proud of representing paisley. We won't sell that many of them. By the way look at Aberdeenshire away kit and you will see a classic!

Reilly has to go on loan quite simple. Both Kelly and Naismith did this and returned stronger. Reilly will never play this season as he isn't spl class and I doubt he will ever be. No pace and no strength means he is not going to feature. Nice touches but then you need to have more to succeed in the big league. Sorry if this is cruel but it's true

So are we in the market for more players of proven quality? Harkins wage was considerable and as much as Kenny will have a new deal worth more mcgowans wage would I imagine cover him as it too was v decent. So is thommo and marwood it for strikers? St johnstone want four front men to pick from and I feel it's absolutely necessary to have 3 at least.

I agree Poz. Nothing wrong with one or two loan players but it is hard to get excited when you know that they don't belong to you and if they play well then they'll be gone in a flash. I may be old fashioned but I want players to sign for us and them to belong to us. Last year we went down a ridiculous road signing loan players that simply were not good enough. I am hoping that with all the players lost in the summer we will be signing new players on proper contracts soon. Remember you can't bring guys in who haven't been training and expect miracles. Djemba Djemba wasn't fit but was asked to play. It doesn't work. We need to try our best to get lads signed and have the team shaped up for Aug 9th. Am I wrong to expect several new players still? If we don't then what does that tell you? Hopefully we will sort the squad soon.

The defence was horrendous for long spells last year. Cheesy had a good year when we won the cup but last year he wasn't great. I also think mcgregor who was a good ball winner couldn't read the game although I do concede he came onto a game from march onwards. I think Reilly is too lightweight and sadly he should go out on loan to a second division team as I doubt he would cope in the championship.
