  1. He was ok. Probably worth another look if he's up for it. Was more impressed by McGregor. Would need to see them against good players to really see how they perform under some pressure. The big guy wouldn't have too many problems aerially but I'd like to see how he got on positionally against sharper strikers. I reckon he might get in a tangle.
  2. We know that Gus handed his list of targets to the club and they then took it from there. I don't think Gus had any direct contact with players up until it was deemed something might happen regarding them coming to the club. Maybe the same "system" is still in operation now then? There doesn't seem to be as many people "in the know" about signing targets this time around so maybe this isn't the case anymore? f**k knows.
  3. They are a bit late with their pish. They should have got themselves organised a bit better when it was in the planning stage. In five years time most of them will be dead anyway. Crinkled old cadavers.
  4. Don't remember him playing against us. Accies punters didn't seem too bothered when he left them and they seemed more excited about Corcoran coming in. You are right though, if he is cheap enough he could be worth a years deal. I'm sure he can do better than Ayr Utd... why has he washed up there is he is so good?
  5. He is supposed to be a bit of a Corcoran Mk2. Sometimes very good, but mostly a waste of time. Didn't Accies allow him to leave and then brought in Corcoran to replace him?
  6. He was trying to hit across the ball and put some swerve on it. But he hit the ball square in the middle and made an arse of himself.
  7. I could give you a quality story about McKay, Durrant and the Steven Naismith signing from Killie. But Willie is handy with the lawyers. Lets put it this way, Rangers AND Wille got shafted royally by Killie over that deal.
  8. He was on a bit more than that. But certainly nothing like the money that gets chucked around nowadays. Those boys all got their signing on fees too which boosted their earnings.
  9. Fitzpatricks transfer dealings were poor as well. He did shift on several players for money(decent money) and maybe on transfer dealings alone we broke even or close to it. But the wage bill increased dramatically with no real incres in quality on the pitch. Chalmers was on not that much money and was a 10 goal a season premier league player. He was replaced by Torfason who was on a much bigger wage and was still a ten goal a season striker. The silly spending began under Fitzie and contined unabated for a few seasons culminating in Hays total mismanagement of the side and his signing of all his mates/clients. The boards decisions at these times were poor to say the least and they should carry a lot of the blame for all of that. I know that we tend to look at other clubs when they are spending recklessly and slaughter their punters for not saying or doing anything when it is happening and slagging them for lapping it all up. But we did much the same thing really. We probably suffered much worse than other clubs who have done equivalent things though.
