Why do we pay so much to Police Scotland and Group 4 to police and steward games? Are police and stewards (in their hundreds) not there to stop a fight between rival fans.
I'm guessing that 90% of the Hibs fans on the pitch were there harmlessly and were celebrating an excellent win. The 10% who stole photographers equipment, broke the goalposts and went looking for a fight with Rangers fans deserve the book thrown at them.
Rangers statement is laughable... congratulating their fans on their good behaviour... I must have imagined the smoke bombs / flares, sectarian singing and defeated fans staying on after the final whistle to fight with Hibs fans... I do remember losing the League Cup final in 2010 and just wanting to get out the stadium as quickly and quietly as possible after seeing us get our runners up medals.

Don't have a problem with Hibs fans invading the pitch, we've done it not too many years ago.
The fans who approached the Rangers fans, players and police should be banned. Totally unacceptable.

Couldn't care less. Our players have been going to watch either of the old firm for years.
Cheesy would come watch us if Dung didn't have a game. What's the difference?
I couldn't care less about them attending these games and supporting their team. Just keep it off social media and everything is fine.

    Stop being so touchy ffs.
Carswell was out of order in referring to the cup match as "the big one". Stupid comment which was undermined his position as a St Mirren player IMO.
Alex Rae has not said anything controversial in public, and has gone out of his way to big up the Saints support.
What he does in his own private time is nether here nor there as long as he is respectful in public... which he is 100%

In his time at Saints, Dorman was the best attacking midfielder to play for the club since Ferguson . He is now playing for a bigger club in a higher profile league than when he left. A truly awful example of a failure.

What has the Topic got to do with your post ? In no way shape or form is Rae suffering any sort of "meltdown" (whatever that is). Only person showing any sign of anything resembling a meltdown is yourself by labouring the same points time and again across numerous threads. Just let Rae get on with preparing for next season and leave all the meltdowns to posters like yourself.

I can smell the shite fae' Cumbernauld.
Edit to add: Here we have the Fan Council trying to ask the BoD to possibly be consulted in future regarding such prickly issues, and offering to help in the communication and understanding before such statements are released in future. The Fan Council would also have liked to have been included in this particular discussion... FFS. One of the biggest stated aims of the Fan Council was to aid the communication channels between the club and supporters, yet the BoD don't even give them a heads-up before this latest fcuk-up. Anyone would think the BoD saw the Fan Council as a way to get other folk to come up with some decent ideas such as golf days, seeing as how they couldn't be arsed coming up with any.
Edit again: I feel for the guys on the Fan Council. I know a couple personally. How the fcuk can they aid communication between club and fans when they are being excluded themselves!? Must be like battering your fcuking head against a brick wall that Fan Council gig.

Yeah you've said that a few times.
So what you're doing is berating St.Mirren for being "f**king stupid" for doing something that all the other 133 senior clubs North & South of the border do?
Call me mad but maybe, just maybe, you are the one who is "f**king stupid"?

There would have been a very easy/cynical way for the board to avoid the uproar.
Announce what they did this morning but add that the extra income will be ringfenced and used to provide first class facilities for disabled fans.

And nobody has even touched on the lack of segregation outside the ground now!
I thought Police Scotland were intent in keeping rival supports apart?
If the mutant hoardes are at both ends of the stadium, what home support that is brave enough to turn up will be surrounded.
    Parking?
I always park at the back of the South stand.
If I go, I will either have to walk past their support before and after the match... If I am lucky or unlucky enough to get parked there at all.
This decision has truly angered me.
I realise the family stand is usually sparsely populated when that lot visit.
Are the board too thick to realise that it is because of the poisonous atmosphete and that increasing the venom and hatred is like trying to put out a fire with petrol?

Just checking my calendar, but no, still over two weeks until 1st April.
What is there left to say? This club is an embarrassment, giving over its family stand to the most objectionable and offensive away support in the country.

Guthro reacted to 1877SMFC in West Bank Makeover
Time to get this thread back on track by sharing some facts :
The SMFC Fans council approached some businesses to gather interest in supporting a list initiatives and projects within the Football club
Screwfix the company is very active in supporting English football , but has little involvement in Scottish football at present
They have a local site adjacent to our stadium and an aerial photograph presented to them shows both our stadium and their Retail outlet in same shot
They have donated £1000 and this will be used to buy Materials to support the club
The West Stand paint was funded from this donation , it did NOT cost that amount to do the job
This idea was in reaction to Fans request at getting more "atmosphere" into the New Stadium and getting it more "Black and White"
The idea was to bring the history and heritage of the North Bank in Love Street into the new stadium
At this stage there is no current plan to paint any of the other stands in the same way.

Yeah, when a 34 year old guy who has just recovered surprisingly early from a serious injury isn't pitched immediately straight back into the first team it can only mean trouble behind the scenes caused by a manager who doesn't like Irish people. It's the only logical explanation.

Fourth may be unrealistic now, or last week, or whenever, but we are still sitting four points behind Morton with 21 to play for. Our priority should be leapfrogging them as quickly as possible. We must ensure that despite our worse season in a decade, we still finish the superior team in the area.
Do that, and avoiding relegation will take care of itself.

It's coming to that time of year again when the 2 cheeks of the same arse need to think about punting next season's season tickets. How many times do Atlantic leagues and 'oh here's a great idea lets try and go down to England', come up at this time of year?
Pathetic and the worrying thing for them is less and less knuckle draggers are swallowing their nonsense. The only team that has missed Rangers over the last few years is Celtic, proving what we all knew and they now realise more than ever is they need each other more than the rest of Scottish football needs them.
They are a cancer on our game, sadly the English know they aren't worth the hassle they'd bring to the table down there.
Anyway apologies for the rant, back on topic. If I won £50,000,000 from the lottery I really doubt I would buy this club because of the flack I'd get. Fair play to any Saints fans/group that are willing to paint a target on their back for the good of the club.

Like it or not Rangers & Celtic both command big enough support to be invited to the table in any breakaway Euro league.

Guthro reacted to BuddieinEK in Disabled Platform For The Main Stand.
I find it sad that despite regular fans requests, it took a UEFA demotion from Gold to Silver for Saints to act on this.
The solution was always there... But a damned rating came before the comfort of people with disabilities.
    That is shameful.
However... It is now being acted upon and I hope we learn from this and focus on punters over plaudits.

    This is Div's post from the SMDSA sub-forum;
    Got this update today from Iain Laurie at the SMDSA;
Since the January SMDSA meeting Johnny Clark and I have attended two meetings with Brian Caldwell (Chief Executive), Lynn Watson (Ticket Administrator) and Colin Haggerty and Alan Wardrop (both Fans Council) and Iain Brown (Paisley Pumps Ltd )
Phase 1 - Raised platform at rear of main stand
When the Stadium was completed in 2009 it was built to comply with the Gold Standard. However the rules have been altered and because the Stadium does not have a raised viewing platform for 10 wheelchair spectators and carers it has been relegated to Silver Standard. Consequently the Club has decided to install a metal 10 wheelchair and carer platform situated in the press area at the back of the main stand. Access will be through the main doors, up in the lift and out past the PA announcers position.
The club has acquired a quotation for the work from Paisley Pumps Ltd and have applied for a grant from the Scottish Football Partnership and this will be considered by them at their next meeting on 17th February. If this application is successful the work will be carried out during the close season. If it is not successful other types of funding will be pursued. Hopefully we will have good news for you at our next meeting on 22nd February.
The Club intend that the platform will be for the use of and administered by SMDSA members only. We would obviously have to have a meeting in due course to decide on how we would organise the access in order that whatever system we decided would be both transparent and fair. The Club would inform all who apply for wheelchair season tickets at the time of purchase of this facility and the need to become a member of the SMDSA. Presumably this should result in us attracting new members.
Phase 2 - Moveable shelters at the south west and south east corners of the ground
The contractor who has quoted for the raised platform has agreed to investigate the various alternative types of shelter which could be adapted for our needs eg dugout type, bus shelters or bicycle shelters etc. The plan would be that the ground staff who removed the practice goals just before kick off would move the shelters in to position. Wheelchair spectators would purchase their seats as normal but the shelters would be there for use if the weather was particularly bad.
Alan Wardrop is on the board of the St. Mirren Community Trust and has agreed along with me and Johnny to help organise an application for funds from various charitable trusts to cover the costs of the movable shelters.
I trust the above is clear but if you have any queries feel free to contact me.
    Regards
    Iain Laurie (Secretary - SMDSA)

Do away with the Under 20s (keep the other ages) and bring back the Reserve League, where youngsters and older pros can mix and learn. Another plus is recovering injured players can get match fitness.
