To be fair, she may have been well out of her depth but, for my money, she was a vast improvement on the previous two. Murphy was just a charlatan, a chancer of the highest order who was in it for what he could get. And Lamont was an absolute, utter embarrassment to Scottish politics. Dugdale may have been woefully ill-equipped for the position but, more than the other two mentioned, her heart appeared to be in the right place.
