  1. I'd also heard we were in for Halkett (probably read it on here or on Twitter so no idea how true it was).

I dunno how much of the changes Stubbs made were down to him genuinely not rating our players and how much was fuelled by some Damned United style bloody mindedness to do the exact opposite of what Jack Ross had done.

    Just re-read his article.

He was talking about Chic Young as the connected Saints fan wasn't he?

Also, why is he whining about Fitzy and Scott having lofty ambitions. That was well known BEFORE he took the job and he still took it. He's not making himself look particularly good compared to guys like Neilson who clearly did their homework.

Ah, is that who it was? I assumed it was Stuart Dickson.

Do you honestly think Dundee could afford the wages of both Strachan and JG? I would be shocked if GS went to a championship club with his CV.  Well done if they get him but it'll cost them a lot of money that I doubt they have.

When has that ever stopped Dundee?

  4. Yeah, it's hardly the most convincing denial so maybe there is some truth to it after all.

Still doesn't detract from my rant on the other thread about folk being far too willing to believe random Twitter accounts.

I only see you questioning his integrity. He has a 3 year contract which no one is questioning bar yourself and some no mark anonymous source on the internet. Why should he have to say a thing when he has the biggest game of the season to prepare for ???

I have a permanent contract in my job but I could walk from that tomorrow if I wanted as could most folk currently in a job. If someone put an anonymous post on social media that I was thinking of leaving my post would I feel compelled to confirm or deny that, no I would not !

And this is the key point. The account in question was registered in January this year and has 546 followers on Twitter. He has less than me FFS! It's incredible this has gained so much traction and the guy is probably having a good laugh at what he's done.

It is incredible the number of people who believe these ITK accounts and folk pretending to be agents when they are making stuff up. Often folk who scream about fake news and not believing the papers are more than willing to take the word of these eejits as gospel - although in this case we now seem to be down to just one eejit on here who believes it.

No pish. Just not as good.:D

In reality, I'd imagine that these awards are based on customer votes and only register if a restaurant is entered for the awards.

The Multan Tandoori in George Street won best restaurant.:o

Anyway, Indian Scene is worth a visit, whether or not it won an award.

Would never have considered most of the places listed in the prize list as being in south west or south east Scotland!

The awards organisers are ushing it a bit to say Paisley is in the south west of Scotland. Either that or all the Indian restaurants in Ayrshire and D&G are pish (which they're not).
Anyone know what's happening to Grill in the Park near Canal Street Station? Used to be good for lunch but it's shut. Facebook page said they would be shut for a few weeks for refurbishment but that was two months ago.

It's opened as the Phat Bhuna.

I noticed at the weekend part of it seemed to have opened, which I'm guessing is that bit. The part nearest the main road is still all shut and the sign is down.

Indian Scene Cuisine in Glasgow Road, just up from Harvie's.

    Food is excellent.

Just won the best dining experience in south west Scotland at the Scottish curry awards.

Apologies folks but I have to rant

1-1 against Motherwell is a good result which keeps us in it but it wasn't the best we could do and I think the playoffs are now our fate.

Was it just me or did anyone else think "stop fannying about. Get the ball out the net and stop wasting time" when we equalised. Jackson took about 3 weeks to get back in to our half after the goal and looked like he was timewasting. Feck get moving and go for a winner.

Sorry if I seem out of order but the goal celebrations were OTT when the point was irrelevant and only a win would have made a difference.

I appreciate another goal was never guaranteed but go for it guys don't accept anything other than a desperately needed victory.

The sight of players wasting time on celebrations and taking ages to cross our half way line made me question their commitment.

I hate to criticise the team but for the first time this season I wonder if they have the fight to stay up.

Thousands of us stay till the bitter end every week. Why did the team chuck it after the equalizer.

Sorry for the rant. Not a happy bud.

There were 30 seconds left at most when Magennis scored. I was surprised the referee played on as long as he did afterwards - I assumed he'd just let Motherwell kick-off and that would be it.

A month or so Queen of the South scored an equaliser in time added on for Falkirk extensively celebrating what they thought would be a stoppage time winner, so really we should be criticising the players for not spending five minutes milking the applause so there'd be plenty of time to bag another goal :)

And there you have it. If you want an example of exactly the sort of shite we want to avoid at all costs, just look at Baz and LPM on this thread. This is exactly what I was getting at.

Can you imagine either of these two types of person on the board of our club.

It would be absolute f**king carnage.

It would be fine. Just get div to install an ignore function in the boardroom.

  10. Dundee haven't exactly been doing much better financially over the last few years under their American owners (who I seem to recall were interested in Saints at one point) rather than fan ownership.

A loss of more than £750,000 in the past two seasons and that's after raking in more than £1million in player sales! I appreciate we've not exactly posted impressive financial results after the player sales of the last few years but we're nowhere near as bad as that.

If the club bid for those items, they could be the first exhibits in a club museum at the stadium.

Tommy, having played the whole of his career at Love St, should be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Why on earth isn't he in it already?! Far more deserving than some folk who are in it or about to be inducted.

Given the auction is next week, I can see a whole can of worms being opened if SMISA use their money for it without getting member agreement. Of course, the same folk who would criticise them for going down that road would also moan if they didn't bid and they end up with someone else!

    Cockles,

Yes, I had your proxy. With only 27 votes cast, that included the members of the SMISA board, there were 20 of 1221 members there.

I hope they didn't think I was joking when I said I'd see them next year :D. and the year after if need be.

That's pretty worrying, not that I'm in a position to talk as I wasn't there. First time I went was in 2015 and you could pretty much have had your own table in hospitality so few folk were there. 2016 was busy because Buy the Buds was being launched, 2017 there was a good turnout too and not sure about last year as I couldn't make it.

Kinda confirms my theory that, rightly or wrongly, the vast majority of the members aren't that fussed about the runnings of SMiSA and some of the stuff discussed in ridiculous debates on here but are quite happy just to pay their money and have no further involvement.

OK has stated in an article in the media that McAllister has an ongoing groin injury that means he has to be managed very carefully in order for it not to flare up and put him out long term. If he had his way McAllister would start every week, but sadly it's not to be.

    He's on the bench today.

Think that's what he had when he was with us first time around and it was manageable - then he went to Derby who seemed to feel it could be fixed with an operation and that's why he was out for so long.

  14. saintmirren.net, which is the server the forum was on (as opposed to the main site, which is on stmirren.com) was owned and paid for by the late Kenny Pointon. The renewal has now expired and needs to be sorted out. Nothing more sinister than that.

Can't say I miss the OS forum as I was reading it less and less thanks to Dickson, although it was funny seeing "our" and "we" creeping into the posts of a man who definitely was not a St Mirren fan.

Put into Google Translate and you get:

Dinamo escaped an undesirable. Right-back Laurentiu Corbu, 24, was loaned until the end of the season at St. Mirren, in the first league in Scotland, where two weeks ago, and the late Mihai Popescu.

Although Laurenţiu Corbu is the defender of Dinamo who made the most mistakes this season in League One, Mircea Rednic announced that he did not rely on his services, so the defender did not travel to Antalya camp. In the last period, the right defender was trained separately in Săftica, under the command of the second Iulian Mihăescu, along with the other undesirable from the lot, Katsikas and Pesici. Laurenţiu Corbu is at Dinamo in 2015 when he was brought from Urban Titu. This season, Corbu scored 13 matches. St. Mirren is ranked last in Scotland's first league, with 12 points in 23 matches. Both Corbu and Popescu were brought to St. Mirren by FIFA agent Antonis Antoniou.
