Quitongo has had a few games (in two years) where he was almost unplayable for the opposition defence. In general though, I don't think he's much of a footballer, doesn't have a good football brain and isn't a good finisher (scored a few screamers, but has missed way more from inside 10 yards) - his scoring record in very poor. Needs to grow up and work at improving his game... not just his physique. He has potential, but 50/50 what direction his career goes in right now.

The 'missile', being a sweet, believed to be a Bounty, thrown from the kids section... culprit probably aged about 10-12. Should have been a steward around, didn't appear to be one nearby. A draw probably fair, ref was terrible for both teams. but Morton on the end of more bad calls. Had 3 penalty shouts... 1 was a definite no (shot struck hand, but not deliberate), one would have been soft (Thompson was obstructed and didn't dive, have seen them given), and the one late on was a penalty (for clumsy contact on McHugh). Dundee Utd were more impressive at Cappielow a few weeks back, but they really aren't up to much... Morton let them play by having tactics completely wrong that day. Two horse race for title, would make Utd slight favourites due to bigger squad.

Morton very good last night, but would agree that it was by far the poorest St Mirren performance I've seen in 25+ years of watching derby matches. Looks like a major January overhaul is needed to avoid relegation. Genuinely wouldn't want to see St Mirren go down.. to be replaced by the likes of Alloa/Livi, not good for the league at all.

For a change the Morton support are hoping for a St Mirren win on Tuesday night. Things could be very interesting in the race for 4th place if Raith were to lose to both St Mirren and Morton this week... with their next game being against Rangers.

He could have been off at Cappielow for his trademark flying elbow. (Thompson was a definite red that night for his studs up on the Morton keeper, out injured for 3 games after that). I didn't say, but I'd agree, it looked a very dodgy booking for Goodwin, but his behaviour after it was a disgrace.

I know every supports tends to see the best in their own players, and ignore the bad points, but Jim Goodwin?? Come on!? Just a thug. After his booking tonight he turned from the ref and clearly called him a 'pr**k' - shocking from an experienced player - the captain. Anyway, St Mirren will finish mid-table this season, but clearly under performing right now. Murray not doing a good job.

That's another red.. more of a red than the one that was given! Wreckless or cowardly - didn't have Thompson down as that kind of player.

No, a professional foul isn't necessarily a red card offence - more often than not it's a yellow eg. Three attackers against two defenders, one of the defenders gets skinned and pulls back the attacker - a clear booking, a 'professional foul', but it wouldn't be a red card if the remaining defender was goalside and in a position to make a challenge. The sending off was wreckless, and having watched it on tv, given the height of the challenge, it probably was a red... although a soft red

Not praising fouls on McMullan, the one that seemed to have the most impact was a professional foul, which got the booking it deserved - any defender would have done the same. Goodwin just batters into everything, usually with elbows flying - he'll get his share of reds this season as usual. Two Morton players taken off injured after challenges from St Mirren players, and a St Mirren player sent off for a wreckless tackle. Decide for yourself which team were the dirtier.

Langfield was excellent, made three or four outstanding saves. Some poor finishing by Morton though, the loss of our top scorer/best player from last season (McManus) has hit us hard. McMullan looked very dangerous, brieflly - really faded out of the game, perhaps tackles on him had an impact. Red card incident happened straight in front of where I was standing, seemed soft. Goodwin and Thompson wreckless at times, lucky to both stay on the park. Goodwin is little more than a hammer thrower. Heard from the St Mirren dressing room (directly from a former player) that Goodwin would call for his team mates to 'f***** do' the skilful opposition players the first chance they got - apparently his attitude on that caused quite a bit of a bust up. A moron. Felt like a defeat leaving the ground tonight. Don't think either team will be troubling the top 4 this season.

Yip, sun has broken through in Greenock... plenty of time for the benches to dry out! Touching on another comment, the Morton supporters would also love away fans to be allowed back into the Cowshed. It has happened a couple of times in recent years, and it changes the atmosphere completely. My first ever games as a Morton fan were behind the goal at the Wee Dublin End. Happened to be be really sunny days, remember being boiling sitting there! Can tell you as a Morton supporter there is no worse sight than seeing St Mirren fans celebrating a goal/jumping over the wall at the WDE... There will be goals for both teams tonight, as neither team is particulary secure...

Not a wind up, I remember sitting and looking at the the side of the pitch with the grey wall and thinking, that looks terrible. Atmosphere no where near what Love Street was - it was like the soul had been ripped out of St Mirren. Of course it has happened to many clubs, half empty all seated stadiums are a curse. Morton v St Mirren games at Cappielow are something that both sets of fans should enjoy. Yeah the stadium is falling apart, but most football people aknowledge that when the ground is full it's a great place to watch a game of football. For that reason I expected easily over 2k away supporters. Based on historic results, I expect St Mirren to win. Morton haven't strengthened anywhere near enough after promotion, and will also have 2 (possibly 3) key players missing with injury. Enjoy the game.. and if you do win, well, I hope it rains at least!

No, it's really poor, even if it is on tv. Alba coverage is horrendous, the only broadcaster I've seen that misses goals whilst giving a close up of a player on the half-way line. Then there's the commentary... could make Barcelona v Real Madrid seem dull. Cappielow isn't great for sure, but when a big crowd is in the atmosphere is very good. I've only been at the 'new' St Mirren stadium once, and I genuinely felt sorry for St Mirren fans - I thought it was awful. Love Street was a great ground, the away end was one of my favourite places to watch football.

Supposedly approx 1300 tickets sold by St Mirren so far. If true, that's pretty disappointing...

Morton supporter here. Threaten to boycott games over that. I saw this story posted on Facebook and thought it was a joke. Totally unacceptable and embarrassing for any club to have that. The fact that your club owners allowed that tells you everything you need to know about them. Shocked. Hope that shop sign will be GONE by the time we visit.

Well.. being in the same league took a few years longer than I expected! It's going to be a very good Championship next season... no doubt next season will be more enjoyable for St Mirren fans than this one has been!

It's tough being relegated, but St Mirren fans will probably enjoy next season in the Championship more than any of the recent SPL league campaigns. Finishing 10th/11th every season in the SPL... it's hardly exciting stuff! Next season you'll had a good chance of finishing in a play off place, probably win more games than you lose, some new places to visit - hopefully Cappielow, but being honest, I don't think Morton will get through the play-offs. Championship could have St Mirren, Hibs, Motherwell, Morton... it's not too bad.

I'd admit that Murray has never stood out as a dirty player to me in the past, but he didn't half get that one badly wrong today. Happened right in front of me, heard the crack (had hoped it was shin guards clashing), but obviously not. Thistle fans didn't cover themselves in glory by booing as a guy with a broken leg was stretchered off.. give them the benefit of the doubt that it happened at the opposite end of the park from where they were.

Put in a horrendous studs up tackle today and broke a Morton players leg. Act of thuggery.
