  1. Merry Christmas everyone. Hopefully the love and tolerance will last for the next 12 months.
  2. Only two got passmarks from me - Mair and Kello.
  3. Today was like the first few games of the season. We moved the entire team around to accomodate Harkins and were woeeful. For the last 2 months we played pretty well securing good victories with a settled team and formation. Today we went back to the start of the season stuff and played like it. However the players must accept a lot of the blame. Most were rank rotten and totally off their game. However we must revert to the selection and formation that has provided some success this season and that means Harkins on the bench and Gowser playing where he can be effective.
  4. I think you are being a wee bit harsh here Lex. Some have not worked out and some have. Like everyone I am disappointed about attacking options but at least we didnt waste £200K like Hibs. Few Clubs have had all their signings end up in the first team. And look where Ross County's many new signings have got them. And Dundee United are allegedly paying Goodwillie £6k a week and he can't get in their team. Killie have a bunch of Nigerians in their reserves. Many Celtic signings are on their bench. McGowan was out of contract and could have signed anywhere. Effectively a new signing. Newton had other options allegedly but signed on with us. Danny realised his mistake with Cornell and fixed it - that should be congratulated. Dilo looks good. Isma recommended Bahoken - obviously didn't work out. Grainger had people happy about the signing and I think we are all disappointed with him but I don't remember howls of protest at the time. Harkins may still work out for us. Danny made mistakes but he also made good judgements and learns from his mistakes. Think he should be cut a bit more slack considering where we are at the moment. No manager gets it right every time.
  5. Paul McGown, Connor Newton and Marian Kello have done pretty well - all first team regulars . Outstanding work Danny
  6. Don't know how good it is but my local Tesco Superstore is selling a turntable with a USB connection for direct recording onto your hard drive. Can't remember the exact price but about £40 / £50. I stupidly in a moment of complete madness gave my entire vinyl collection to a charity table to raise funds for medical equipment. Some fantastic and very rare stuff in there including Genesis 1st album. In 2009 one was sold for nearly £800 at auction. Probably got £1 for it at the charity table. Never mind
  7. Stolen from elsewhere and adapted to suit .... I have a Morton advent calendar - all the windows are boarded up. (well I thought it was funny....) And a Merry Xmas to everyone on B&W Army. Hope Santa brings us all loads of points
  8. Plenty of players before Gowser have got into trouble and continued their career. I am not condoning what he admitted to but we do not know the whole set of circumstances. I hope he learns his lesson and is appropriately punished and signs an extension with us.
  9. It didn't do Dummett any harm
  10. I do not think there is much difference between all 3 defensively but would have Mair in as IMHO his distribution is the best.
  11. Thoomo had the ball in the net but was ruled offside. 'Very close' says Willie Miller ....
  12. 80mph winds forecast for Saturday with torrebntial rain. Best of luck to all travelling Buds . Hope the game finishes (assuming it starts).
  13. I can remember an interview where Billy himself said he did not regard himself as a goalscorer but as a forward who preferred to play behind a target man striker but because of his height he was often played as the target man. With us Billy was often the lone forward with only Dorman supporting from deep midfield. Billy was often isolated up front with us. I could see him play more the Paul McGowan role or playing alongside a natural goalscorer (Adam Campbell?). When he left us allegedly Aberdeen and Motherwell were interested in him. We now have football players in the team and I reckon Billy would fit in a lot better this time assuming he is physically fit and match fit.
  14. Or here ..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/25335922
  15. Always liked The Goal Machine and thought that Gus played him in the wrong position and did not play to his strengths. I think he is far better suited to the way we play now as he is a good team player and footballer who is confident on the ball and holds it up well and brings others into play. A welcome addition to the squad if he signed. Suspect we may have a couple players leave in January anyway so hopefully wages should not be a big issue.
  16. The Press Release (ie its in the bag and no longer a rumour ) .... St Mirren are in line to take Newcastle youngster Adam Campbell on loan come January 1, an agent working for both clubs claims. Spencer Downey has already helped to arrange moves for Paul Dummet and Conor Newton to the Paisley club as part of an affiliation agreement with the Geordies and says England Under-19 cap Campbell could be next. The 18-year-old - who turns 19 on New Year's Day - was close to agreeing a deal with the Buddies during the summer but moved to Carlisle on a short-term switch instead. But now Downey says Saints boss Danny Lennon could finally get his man. He said: "We're hoping to have that one tied up for January 1 and get Adam up there for the match with Kilmarnock the day after. "Danny thinks he is fantastic. He's wanted Adam for a while and probably should have gone up there in August but it didn't work out that way. "Newcastle value what St Mirren have done for Paul and Conor and believe sending Adam up there would be good for him. "He's a live-wire striker and will bring so much to that team. Steven Thompson will love him. He has so much energy and is rapid. He has a good shot off of both feet and will score goals." Campbell is highly rated by United manager Alan Pardew and made three Premier League appearances last season and another two in Europa League ties - but has yet to feature for Newcastle this term. Meanwhile, Downey is also working on a deal that will see Newton's own loan stay extended until the end of the season. The 22-year-old first joined Saints last January as he linked up with best friend Dummett - now back playing for the Magpies first-team. The duo helped the Scottish Premiership side to the League Cup, with Newton scoring in the 3-2 win over Hearts in the final at Hampden. St Mirren chief executive Brian Caldwell hopes to have the paperwork "concluded soon rather than later". However, Downey - who represents the player - admits there is competition from clubs south of the border. He said: "Because of how well Conor is doing right now he is attracting interest from clubs in the Championship. "But he wants to stay where he is. Newcastle would like him to stay because he's progressing week in, week out. "However, a lot of people are watching the SPL because it's a great breeding ground. "But the question remains that with Conor doing so well, do we leave him where he is, or allow him to move on to a club in the Championship where he may have to settle in all over again? "Both Danny Lennon and his assistant Tommy Craig are both clear when they say he is good enough for the Championship. He has good energy and skill."
  17. So did Celtic at Hampden and we all know what happened there
  18. My first choice would be The Bull Inn which is an old traditional pub full of character and a Saints pub. Some of the other pubs are good but don't know if I would take a woman to all of them . Welcome aboard Jonah.
