  1. Brophy scored 7 League goals last season and was top scorer. He hasn't started a League game this season (Killie doesn't count) but is proven to be a better striker than Main or Ayunga. If we are paying him we should give him some gametime as he cannot be worse than Main (3 goals from 19 League games) or Ayunga (3 goals from 16 League games). And Greive has scored 3 from only starting 5 League games this season. The problem is Main/Ayunga partnership.

  2. I watched Dundee v Raith R and in the first half Dundee were garbage and could easily be a few goals down. They improved in the second half and managed to get a draw from being 1 down.

They are still relying on McMullan which is a  sad indictment of where they are. It is a cup game and anything can happen of course but I full expect us to blow them away 2-0. Hopefully we start with Main and Greive/Brophy and maybe get another couple of goals. Main and Ayunga doesn't work.

Three times the number of Japanese players in their starting 11 than Scottish ones. This for me is a big issue with Scottish football.

We need rules that encourage far more investment in youth structures & consequences if a club doesn’t develop home grown talent.

X number of club home grown players in every starting 11 for me.

Our starting line-up only had 2 Scots in the team.

Where is the £2K a day figure reported from?

I appreciate that the Covid testing was extremely expensive, but why did that not show up in last years accounts up until 31/5/21?

The Covid season of lock down the club did incur significant additional transportation and legal costs as well as all the testing required.

The club had to run more than one bus to games for social distancing reasons.

Additional costs for hotels - meals, room etc.

Remember that the club employed some big hitters to deal with the legal problems that we faced that season including former player Brian Docherty.

We also had no hospitality or fans at stadium that season that must have reduced our income over and above season ticket sales.

I appreciate there was streaming revenue but surely that was not enough to cover those £2K a day tests?

So I’m at a “loss” as to why the club financial loss for that season was not far greater that £45K?

No idea what the accounts show  however Covid testing was on a daily basis  https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59683384

before moving on to a twice a week basis due to cost. Everyone had to be tested ie players, coaches, medical staff and anyone in contact with team members. Cost per test seemed to vary between £50 and £100. St Mirren probably had at 30 least staff being tested ie between £1500 and £3,000 per day.

Hamilton Accies spent nearly quarter of a million on Covid testing alone https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/hamilton-accies-reveal-staggering-covid-23734071

Alloa were complaining they were spending between £3,000 and £6,000 per week for a part-time Club.

Overall cost to Scottish football was around £70M https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55030350

SMFC like other Clubs took advantage of a £1.6M loan from the Scottish Government to help with the substantial Covid costs.

Time to trade Grieves and Brophy for a better quality striker

Ayunga has started 15 League games and scored 3 goals. Main has started 18 League games and scored 3 League goals. Greive has started 5 League games and scored 3 goals. Don't think it's Greive we should be getting rid of.

  6. Greive should have scored with the one at the far post but the other two he had no chance with. One was too far in front and the other too far behind. But I see no-one is complaining about Main's poor effort when he manufactured a really good opening for himself then a pass back to their keeper. Or bad decision making a couple of times when we had 3 onto 2. Or O'Hara blocking a shot that was going in. Yea, Greive messed up once but so did others.

  7. I remember the first time I saw Frank play for St Mirren. He came on as a sub to make his debut away at East Stirlingshire on April 26th 1975 on the second last game of the season. We were a very poor team back then finishing 6th in the old League Division 2 behind the likes of East Fife and Montrose.  The crowd was only 833 and we were already 5-0 down when Frank appeared. But despite the miserable day I was thrilled to watch this great wee player who came on and knew he was a diamond who would shine for us the following season. And so it proved.

  8. Jay is a winger. We play with wing backs. Unless we change the formation I don't see how he can fit in. His last appearance I think was up in Perth where he was roasted defensively. Good player in the right team or we play him as a striker but we already have loads of these in the squad and two on loan. For now I don't see him getting a game for us. Maybe in the future. Best for him to get game time elsewhere.

I'm not buying that, I don't happen to know the IQ of O'Hara but, again, if we followed that way of thinking we would have to sub EVERY player as soon as they get booked.

PS It should be noted that, for whatever reason, we looked sharper after O'Hara was sent off, certainly didn't have any effect on the final result so not worth getting any new Christmas knickers in a twist about.

It is how a player continues to play after he is booked. On Saturday it was obvious Erharon had lost it and was correctly subbed. Last night both Gallagher and Dunne were booked but never committed any more rash challenges and there was little concern about them. However O'Hara continued with several stupid challenges before the ref decided he had had enough. I was in praise of Robinson's decision on Saturday but he got that one wrong last night. But we did start playing only when we went down to 10 men so that problem has to be addressed.

  10. Agreed but there was hysteria on here last night putting ALL the blame onto the manager.
Players can get caught up in the emotion and are not known for being intelligent. The Away support could see it was an accident waiting to happen as did the manager but he did nothing about it. O'Hara was stupid but Robinson had control of the situation. He should have subbed O'Hara.
