  1. Billy Mehmet is an incredibly hard working player. On his day very skilful and knows where the goal is. Therefore there is no chance Murray will sign him
  2. On the subject of cost for games, watching Wolfsburg v man u the studio pundits mentioned the atmosphere at games in Germany, citing the low cost of entry as one of the factors that improves the numbers ( seems obvious I know) but the really important point is that in spite of charging low admission prices the german league teams can still pay good money to players, otherwise a lot of the top players wouldn't be there. How do they do it? Sponsorship and tv money certainly, but they must have a very successful infrastructure to remain competitive not just in their own league but also in Europe. Watching a german league game on bt sport it would seem that even the average teams in Germany have a good stadium, great atmosphere and a great product on the pitch. Why can't we?
  3. Oh for the days of Danny lennons tippy tappy shite. Now we have tippy blooter defend tippy blooter defend deeper tippy blooter goal! For the opposition! Repeat ad nauseum yet nothing changes. The board should admit they are wrong and apologise to the supporters. The late great Jock Stein, who knew a thing or two about football, said football is nothing without the supporters. If we keep going the way we are there won't be any supporters. Watching on telly I thought the support for the team was excellent but that can't last much longer. Morton looked a league above us and we couldnt up our game as we clearly didnt have a plan to start with
  4. Murray clutching at straws claiming equaliser was offside. So what if it was, it changes nothing. We are crap because of him
  5. We absolutely stole a point. Sitting deeper and deeper the inevitable happened. The only surprise is that it didnt happen sooner. We cannot pass, hold on to the ball or tackle. Jack Baird man of the match? Pick any Morton player ahead of him surely. Usually I'm jumping about like a dafty shouting at the tv but could hardly muster a cheer even when we scored. This team is sucking the life out of the club and that is down to Murray.
  6. Now I can see why so many on here are so critical. It must be murder sitting watching that every week. We are so powderpuff and disorganised it's a wonder we are still in front. Morton are pish but seem to have some idea of a game plan. Our league position seems about right
  7. Oops! Should always check these things, he now at York City. Ok, David Moyes anyone? ( unless he's already gone elsewhere)
  8. It would be just about bearable if there were some l shoots of recovery. Some fighting talk from Murray also wouldnt go amiss, even just to let us see that there is some passion within the club. When you have Managers of Dumbarton, Livingston etc out thinking you then you should go back to that level and leave our club alone. We have the potential to be a regular top level club but only when we have someone with the ability and experience to take us there and keep us there. We will get relegated if he stays. Jackie McNamara anyone?
  9. It's a sad state of affairs when I'm coming on here hoping to read that Murray has gone. How much longer will he be given? He seems to be deluded enough about his own ability which will prevent him from walking. Hope I'm wrong. We are far enough into the season and he's had enough chances but clearly doesn't know what he's doing. When you look at our squad there is certainly potential to build on but Murray is sucking the life out of them. It's easy to say Thommos finished but he has dropped a division and surely still has something to offer. Players like Morgan and Malian have great potential but only when handled correctly and played in their strongest position. My annoyance with Murray is more to do with his apparent belief that he is some sort of tactical genius. All the best coaches keep it simple and understand their players, and crucially the players understand their coach. Ours look lost
  10. My reservations about Murray are sadly coming true. I'm also very concerned that he threw Spalding under a bus when he's supposed to be in charge! Murray must carry the can. We will now have to suffer further defeats before he goes. His departure is inevitable, the timing is pish, he should have done what most struggling managers do and leave WITH his assistant not afterwards. It's all very well saying we have periods in games where we look ok but we keep getting pumped! Wake up board and tell him he's inadequate even at this level and escort him from the ground on Monday. Ok compensation is costly but so is losing 1000 punters a week and so is relegation.
  11. Interesting debate on crowd influence; on the one hand the Italian goalkeeper Buffon, when questioned about the atmosphere in an upcoming match, replied" I've never seen a fan score a goal yet" the sentiment being that fans had no influence on what happens on the pitch. On the other hand I'm sure we have all heard Managers and players saying that when playing away at an intimidating venue if you can silence the crowd early you have a better chance of winning the game. A clear example of crowd influence on a game. Another slant is the crowd influence on officials. If the crowd don't influence the players there is a strong argument that the crowd does very often influence officials decisions. Most fans would like to believe that their vocal support can influence what's happening. It would take a very unusual person indeed to close out all noise especially at big games. I suppose none of us will really know. I certainly won't because 1) I'm too old and 2) I was/ am pish at football
  12. Has Mr Miller accumulated enough wealth in his own right to consider buying the club? Perhaps he wants to try before he buys and no better way than to be involved in the day to day running of affairs. He will be vey familiar with the infrastructure of successful clubs so he might be in a position to offer advice on more than just the coaching side of things. Oh, and another thing, his brother Jimmy lives here and is a really good guy.
  13. Off to work now. This forum better be here when I get back or there'll be trouble.
  14. Hate it when players do this. It usually curses the team and is disrespectful to whoever we play in the semi. Hope I'm wrong
  15. More likely a usaless player on trIal with us knowing our luck
  16. We now have two keepers both playing first team football. Good. We have our second choice keeper playing at a higher level than our current no 1. Also good. If langfield got injured we would have a match fit keeper to call on. Not many teams can say that. If only we could play them both at once we might not be in the position we are at present!
  17. What position does he play? Is it on the starboard bow?
  18. Other teams are already smelling our nervousness and we will be left well behind if something doesn't change soon. We are in disarray at the moment but one good result can change all that. Ive never been convinced that Murray realises that it's about winning games. He comes across as a guy who thinks he is a great tactician yet his team run around with no shape or understanding of their roles. Murray has not inherited a poor team from last season, it is now his team and he had better shape up soon or we will disappear into obscurity. I really really want to be wrong but I never felt he was right for us even while he was being mooted for the post when Craig was in charge. Time will tell I suppose
  19. To have Watson starting was quite a risk considering he had only just signed but he didn't put a foot wrong. Obviously there is work to be done, for example going forward we offered no attacking threat on either flank. We are far too narrow. One thing that has carried over from last season is the annoying habit we have of trying little fancy flicks and touches which results in us giving away possession and coming under pressure. There is a time for attempting that kind of stuff. It's not when you're 0-0 or even 1-0 up( what does that feel like?) it's when you're cruising to victory and full of confidence. We are no where near that yet. Hard work ahead.
  20. Just watched highlights on sonstv on YouTube and it came over as quite an entertaining game. Admittedly we didn't have enough shots on goal but seemed that we just lacked a finishing touch to some decent moves. We did, however, look like the knotty ash 11. Either that or all of Dumbartons team are 8ft tall.
  21. If what's been said about Goodwin is true why have him on the bench in the first place? If he has no place at St Mirren then he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. Terminate his contract " by mutual consent". Didn't Murray say he did have a place in the team but would be used only for 20 odd games? I'm no fan of Goodwin as he has a liking for blaming those around him when we concede a goal but he's either an active part of the squad or he isn't. If Murray has no intention of using him even as a sub but humiliates him by putting him on the bench then Murrays style is not for me. I'm not convinced anyway that Murray has what it takes at our level let alone a club like ours where the expectation is a bit higher than at Dumbarton who appear to have given us a lesson on what this division is really about.
