  1. As a club we should be defending our players in public. Our chairman and bod, who historically and quite rightly rarely comment on football matters, should, on this occasion be more vocal in their defence of the club captain. As someone said earlier Fergie was a master at his craft where these things were concerned. When Danny was quoted as saying Goodwin brings some of it on himself he was making Jims position worse. He should keep those opinions behind closed doors. Jim Goodwin is the captain of St Mirren football club. An honour bestowed upon very few and treasured by Goodwin himself which was evident when he was interviewed after the cup final. Ok he's a big boy but he does deserve protection by the club. The media and all of Scottish football should be told in no uncertain terms that you pick on one of ours at your peril.
  2. Watched the highlights of thistle v killie and the jags played some nice stuff. This has the makings of a great game with a few goals in it. Is Gallacher likely to be in goals for them? I remember going to a couple of games when he was in goals for us and he didn't communicate with the defence at set pieces or command his area. This, along with our knowledge of Lee mair, should give us something to work on. Naturally the jags will feel they will have some inside info with mair being transferred recently so it will be fascinating to see how it pans out. I hope we really go at them from the off as we have shown we have the firepower to really hurt teams as long as we score first
  3. Goodwin might as well chuck it . How he can concentrate on playing for 90 mins when he gets that sort of treatment is a miracle. A booking for a nothing challenge just goes to show that people can't think for themselves. Jumping on a bandwagon is a throwback to being a child and sadly some people never grow out of it. We won that game with a world class first half performance going forward. When was the last time we were 3 up at half time? Not surprised that the second half panned out as it did as we are clearly not used to being so much in command. Hard to judge from just the highlights but it would seem that we are not sure who is in charge of our defence, each one waiting for the others to attack the ball/ player.hopefully this week may address that. In saying that it must not overshadow a fantastic attacking first half. Three goals from three different scorers shows that we might just give the opposition a bit more to think about rather than just relying on thommo
  4. Massive massive result today. One question. Can you appeal against a yellow card? By all accounts another very soft yellow card for Goodwin. Having a player at risk of a red card in every game would disrupt any team. Time to speak out.it's something our club rarely does but this is getting silly and it will cost us points. Back to the game, to go to Easter road and be up against butcher, who always seems to have Dannys card marked, and win is a terrific result. 3 goals away from home is some achievement. Let's celebrate this unexpected result. I love my team!!!!
  5. I'm a Glasgow boy but I remember the european games when we rightly presented ourselves as Paisley St Mirren and I felt extremely blessed to be a regular attender in those times. I recall going home from the first leg against St Etienne and watching the highlights with "Paisley St Mirren V St Etienne" I think we also flew the eufa flag at cairters corner
  6. Let's be Frank, he should be singing "signed, sealed, delivered I'm yours"
  7. Unbelievable! Danny finally signs someone taller than himself. Seriously, the boy looks genuinely happy to be here. Let's just give him time and see what happens
  8. He wouldn't be the first player to play for us with an exaggerated opinion of himself. Who cares if he thinks hes pele. He's a player I've always liked with a great attitude on the park where it counts.
  9. Signing this type of player will make us less predictable as it now gives us options we haven't had due to lack of back up or the resources to change things around when needed. Hopefully more to follow in terms of squad quality. Welcome to the roller coaster gregg
  10. If this works out it will be like signing a new player. A club like ours thrives on players with something to prove. It sounds like he has grown up just by admitting his mistakes. And a big shout out for St Mirren for supporting his return.

  12. It's the French version of wanker
  13. This signing should bring some open minded, cautious optimism. Such qualities are in abundance among the Paisley faithful
  14. I would love to see him in a saints shirt.skilful, hard working player who hates losing
  15. Danny needs to act now or we will be in a play off place by the end of the window. Hes not daft and like any other manager it's results that count. Though in saying that we have a habit of sacking successful managers so he's done well to survive after the cup win. It is frustrating when you see the likes of Ross. County and thistle strengthening early in the window. These teams are addressing their shortcomings and as a result it lifts their respective clubs. Oh how we could do with a lift right now. This week will be very telling running up to the hibs game. Good teams have a number of players who take responsibility when things are going against them. We do not appear to have enough of that type of player at present. A lot is said about certain positions that need strengthening, fair enough. But for a club like us with limited resources it's more about team players. Over to you Danny, this might be your last chance
  16. There would be little point in signing the likes of Kenny miller. Danny would probably play him in goal
  17. There must be problems when we include a player who clearly doesn't want to be here. This is Dannys last window to get it right. Given his track record it's unlikely that he will. We now have a captain likely to get booked if he as much as farts, injuries to crucial players, an on loan player who'd rather be at the pictures, inexperienced players not used to a battle. I love my team but this is really starting to look very dodgy, very dodgy indeed
  18. This is set up for the buddies to run riot in the second half. Cooommeeoonnyeeeesaaints! ( will I ever grow up?)
  19. After seeing today's team I will have to change my prediction St Johnstone 1 St Mirren 5
  20. I know we're a Paisley team but didn't we switch the floodlights on for every night game?
  21. Great memories of a great atmosphere. Booing the pseudo Liverpool/ rangers fans who contaminated the other side of the fence in the north bank. We were a very good side to watch and if I remember correctly it was actually a very competitive match, not your usual exhibition boring guff. Those were the days!
