  1. Always thought his attitude was suspect. Seems to be a bit of a luxury which a team in our position can't afford. We need to be looking at players who have what it takes when things are going against you
  2. I would also prefer him with a heart beat as I think he plays a bit better
  3. Let's hope Paul sees this through, after all its very rare to find a footballer who can complete a sentence..........
  4. If this is indeed true then perhaps we already have someone lined up. Going back to Lee himself, the man is a consummate professional with a great attitude and if he does go then all the very best to him.
  5. Imagine the dressing room when he walks back in? " hi lads, what a lovely break. Now I'm back, refreshed and raring to go. I missed you all more than words can say" aye right! Agreement or not, chase him and cut our losses. Total cock up no doubt but no one will benefit from forcing him to come back. Very bad for morale which might not be the best at the moment anyway.
  6. Groundhog day. Until we instil a different mentality we will continue to get pumped when up against teams like this. Watched some of Gary birtles interview yesterday when he talked about Brian clough and how he had his team believe the could beat anyone. That's how you make up for shortcomings. The capitulation of our players when we go behind is nothing short of disgraceful. I would rather see players cautioned or sent off getting stuck in and demonstrating that going behind hurts them. Our Danny is too nice. Maybe behind closed doors he is different. I just wish that publicly he would talk up his teams chances. A team quite often reflects the managers personality. I'm all for nice passing, pretty football but not when it means fighting relegation every season. It's not unreasonable to expect whoever leads our club to have learned from their mistakes. It would appear that Danny continues to make the same mistakes eg unsuccessful signings, poor substitutions , changing a winning team to name but a few. Danny is clearly a nice guy, but a winner? I feel this transfer window is his very last chance to show he has learned something. If not then I fear it's goodbye
  7. This transfer window is crucial as it is obvious we need better quality to come on and prevent us losing. It sounds like a number of our top players are suffering from exhaustion/injury due to insufficient back up in the squad. Danny subs may be baffling at times however he doesn't have many options if things go against us. A goalkeeper like kello doesn't sign for a club if he doesn't see potential. That signing alone might suggest there are more to come. Maybe I'm trying to make myself feel better
  8. 1. League cup win 2. league cup semi 3 cathartic Steven thomson 4.chick young's prayers 5. Upsetting jackie McNamara 6. Never off here 7. Tears of joy( see no 1) 8. Losing my voice ( see nos 1 and 2) 9.Marian kello signs 10. Every saints goal
  9. Watched the highlights of killies game against hibs. Samson was beaten twice with shots across him, quite similar to the goals he conceded in the cup final. Admittedly I didn't get to many games to witness first hand samsons weaknesses but it would seem that's one of them.some of you more regular attendees may well have picked up on this before but could somebody tell our Danny to tell our Adam before tomorrow's game? Let me wish all buddies on here a very happy new year. I wish I was there but duty calls and hopefully get up for a game sometime soon.orrabestnatno
  10. Obviously a bit of a let down after utd game, but given our history of making a mess of it when expectations rise, this isn't that bad a result. A further point away from teams below us ( hearts aside) killie game next, prediction? A good game of football and our new signing scoring a debut double!
  11. This will be a very tricky game no doubt. If Ryan Stevenson is playing the it makes our task that bit tougher. He is a terrific player who always causes other teams problems, his work rate is phenomenal. Thankfully we know all about him as he has performed well against us in the past. Keep our feet on the ground and we can win the three points. No one gave us a prayer before we played united. Hearts are being written off by a few which is foolish as they are no mugs. Every game in this league needs to be taken on it's own merit irrespective of form
  12. Let's use the negative press(which has kind of overshadowed a terrific result against united) to motivate the team. We must be doing something right if other managers are whining about us. For too long we were ever so nice to visiting teams, giving them great facilities and a wee present of three nice points. Not any more! Let's show the rest of this league we won't be bullied by anyone.
  13. McNamara has been quoted in the express as saying that Danny told him that he felt Goodwin was being singled out by refs. Now call me naive but shouldn't those kind of conversations between managers remain private? Dundee united have handled this whole affair appallingly.firstly bleating in public about our player(s), then using footage from a video which is supposed to be used for training purposes ( I'm assuming we gave them permission to film from the stand which would have been done in good faith) lastly to openly discuss what is said behind closed doors shows a total lack of respect for our football club. Mcnamaras now saying he didnt want to see anyone sent off! All this just because they lost a game of football. It's never been st mirrens style to court controversy but we must highlight the disrespectful manner in which Dundee united have treated our club and it's facilities. Of course Goodwin shouldn't have done what he did, but jeezo utd need to have a word with themselves over this. I only wish the cup game was next week as I think we have, for the moment, really rattled them.
  14. Thank you! We face a nail biting transfer window if John McGinn keeps that up. If someone offers silly money it will be very difficult to hold on to him. Can we not disguise him? Thoughts?
  15. Just read mcnamaras comments. He's been unprofessional on two counts. Firstly to comment that an opposition player should have been sent off, secondly to justify his comment by stating that Lennon took him off for fear of Goodwin being red carded. None of his feckin business why another manager subs a player. I'm not a great fan of losing with dignity and I accept that interviewing a manager after a stuffing is journalism at it's hungriest, but he needs to learn to keep some thoughts private. Our Danny can be a bit too diplomatic at times but he would never embarrass himself or the club in the bitter way McNamara did today. Can't wait for the cup game which now has extra spice given today's proceedings. I also read that there was some heated exchanges on the touchline. Let's hope our Danny and our jim have got under the skin of the united coaches.
  16. A lot of praise is heaped on uniteds young guns which is fair enough but what about our own? Two goals from youngsters in a high pressure game after two poor results is really saying something about their ability and aptitude. Add to that two goals from a man who works for ninety odd minutes and is at the tail end of his career. What an example to have at our football club. Lastly, Danny made a big decision today to take off Goodwin. It seems he was heading for a red card, however it still meant a significant change to the team. It was a good decision under pressure which is something Danny has had his problems with. Not today! Well done one and all! COYS!
  17. Whatever the result this has the potential to be a cracking game of football and I truly wish I was there to see it. Dundee utd have got some exciting young players but so have we. In the few games I've seen, John McGinn has the potential to go to the very top. His style and attitude remind me of players in years gone by. He is the kind of player I would include even when he is off the boil, he has that bit of magic you might only need once in a game. You might have gathered he is my favourite saint at the moment! Anyway, back to the game. If we win this tomorrow it would be a huge confidence booster for us. I just worry that if utd score the first goal our heads will go down which seems to have happened the last couple of games. Let's take the game to them, score first and we are on our way! COYS!
  18. Sectarianism exists in many forms and in many societies. I have lived here for 30 years and have encountered sectarianism in a much more subtler form than the type I grew up in. Having been brought up in ibrox I witnessed more than my fair share of horrendous sectarianism. My parents were very much against religion as they saw it as a breeding ground for hatred. Of course that's not the case, but they naturally worried that we would get caught up in the lunacy. Religion, when properly practiced, is clearly a very positive and loving thing in many people's lives. It's the insane interpretations that lead to irrational fear manifesting in violence or more subtle forms of sectarianism. The church bodies have never taken enough responsibility in actively challenging sectarianism. They say oh yes it's terrible but they need to work closer together at a public level and demonstrate love and tolerance, and more importantly, common spiritual ground. Similar inertia from the clergy in northern Ireland not only prolonged the troubles but some clergy were actively involved. I suspect much of the same behaviour happens in Scotland
  19. Excellent news. Now let's see if Danny does any more early business
  20. A whole range of opinion on here on what should or shouldn't happen to Paul. Let's trust the management and board to do the right thing once the court has made it's decision. They will be the ones with all the facts at their disposal and they will then be able to make an objective decision.
  21. Perhaps he was provoked, but let's say he comes through this and still plays for us. Can you imagine the level of provocation he's going to get from opposition players about his behaviour? He'll be lucky to survive in the professional game and that would be a real shame. Remember when you point the finger there are three pointing back at you.
  22. I think a lot hinges on how the player himself makes amends for his actions irrespective of what the court decides. He may have a drink problem, in which case he can get help. He hopefully sees how this will seriously jeopardise his future and bust his arse to make up for it in a way only him and his conscience can decide. I've been where he's at and thankfully all that stopped many years ago when I sobered up and people I had hurt were only too willing to help me when they saw I was genuine in my efforts. Our clubs track record is good when it comes to players in trouble( basher with drugs if I remember correctly) I know the big difference here is that he assaulted the police twice which will not go in his favour at all, however if he has a problem ( and doing an insane act twice may point towards that) then this is a big turning point for him and he either takes it seriously or he doesn't. Let's hope he does
