His expertise in putting together a defence that doesn’t leak goals may well be just what we need. Put that alongside the experience of Ferdinand then we might just be very hard to beat. OK has a philosophy of playing good attractive football. If the defence is strong and sound then the rest of the team can get on with winning the game.

Whilst I accept that Celtic are Scottish champions and that the match attracts a big crowd, I do baulk a little at some of the sycophantic pish about “these are the nights you dream of” or “this is what promotion was all about” nonsense. Maybe it’s because I come from an era when we gave the likes of Celtic a reasonably regular scudding that this sort of patter gets my goat a bit. 

Gus has been away from our club for a good few years and therefore it’s reasonable to assume he has learned a great deal in that time. He is being condemned for that “pigeon final” yet he’s the same man who brought on Sutton and Mehmet against motherwell and both scored to keep us up.  As he won’t be the manager he won’t need to be Mr happy to the media and fans. He has a history of concentrating on defence surely that is something we could do with right now?

The thing about Stubbs is that he has repeatedly said we must stick together yet his whole demeanour and attitude about his team is one of detachment and a seeming inability to understand what makes a TEAM. He cannot be allowed to continue, I would rather have a youth team coach take the first team temporarily rather than this clown continue to destroy our clubs standing in Scottish football

Our recruitment methods have been questionable for some time. Who knows the real reasons? Perhaps we use a more prudent approach than others behind the scenes. None of us know the facts but it would appear that we are just a bit tighter than other teams when it comes to contracts etc. On the face of it there is serious cause for concern that our over cautious approach could result in our relegation. Add Stubbs into the equation and there is a sense that players won’t want to come to a place where strong leadership on and off the park seems to be lacking.
