I think he is having to work hard at instilling self belief in the players. A few times now he has appeared to be a bit frustrated at their apparent timidness. He wants us to be tougher mentally. No bad thing

Those who were saying he doesn’t seem to care about the fans seem pretty wide of the mark listening to that interview. Stubbs looks like he has had the rug pulled from under him with potential signings apparently going elsewhere which isn’t really his fault. He is clearly not happy with the quality at his disposal, he just needs to be careful how he conveys that in interviews  as the players have the right to be respected and  only criticised in private as he could easily lose what he’s got then he really would be in trouble.

Experience is what probably beat England in the end and Croatia’s fitness was astonishing. They can certainly play a bit too so the final should be a great game. England have invested in their youth and it has paid off. It surely can’t be that hard for Scotland to take a leaf out of some of the smaller nations books who got to the finals. We need to get with it as it were to have any chance of competing at that level.

Every time I go to click on this I say John Mcginn’s name in my head in the same tone as the commentator did in the run up to our second goal in the league cup final. The way that he said his name without an add on such as “passes to”  or “ strides forward “ etc has stuck in my head ever since. I probably should seek help but I like it so there.
