  1. At least now we can all hope that ICT thump Celtic in the cup final without that outcome having a negative effect on our hopes of European football next season.
  2. Nothing to lose now, we have four free hits before we reach the close season. Four opportunities to try something different with the squad we have available to us. My suggestion is to stick Gogic up front alongside Main. He won't get bullied and he has already proved he knows where the goal is. Worth a try IMO. Any other wild ideas out there ?
  3. To quote Tom Hendrie after a disappointing St Mirren defeat, "well, we won the second half". How to turn a negative into a positive.
  4. Re-group at H-T, a quick second half goal, and Bob's Yer Uncle !! Maybe.
  5. Just something that has puzzled me for many years .......... The first St Mirren manager I can remember from my 'childhood' was Doug Millward. All I can remember about DM is that he was English and that he was our manager about the time of the 1966 World Cup in England. But that's more or less the limit of my recollection of him. He only lasted a season or two in Paisley. I often wondered how it came about that he landed the post of St Mirren manager as I can't find any previous link between DM and Scottish football. Do any of my fellow auld guys (maybe HSS or billy g , etc) have any background info to fill this gap in my St Mirren knowledge?
  6. 99% of players who join St Mirren are transient. Players come and players go. Main has done well this season but won't be irreplaceable. Dunne is a wonderful player in his own imagination, but not so good in the real world. Robinson (and perhaps also O'Carroll) have been key to our improvement this season, so holding on to these guys will be fundamental to continuing our success. Also our scouting people have performed well and brought a few genuine belters to Paisley (ok, maybe Olusanya and Taylor have a bit to prove !!). Better players are out there and I'm confident our manager will find them.
  7. As yet we still don't know what the final 5 home / away fixtures of this season will be. So this is pure speculation. How many more points can we realistically expect St Mirren to pick up ? Ideally we would hope to finish this season with more points than the best of the losers, i.e. whichever team finishes 7th. My guess is 4 more points, hopefully one victory (Hibs ?) and one draw (Hearts ?), so 48 points. Any more would exceed my pre-season expectations. Could we aspire to better ?
  8. Three obvious benefits of making the top 6, no relegation shadow hanging over us for the last 5 games, guaranteed better £££ from final league position, and we can start our planning for next season knowing which league we will be playing. Good news after a shit afternoon.
  9. Anyway, back on topic ........ So far this season Killie have conceded 58 goals in 32 games. St Mirren have scored none of those goals. Surely it's our time to fill our boots ????
  10. Next weekend's fixtures, results from the same fixtures earlier this season ..... St Mirren 0 Killie 0 St Johnstone 0 Hibs 1 Dundee United 0 Livingston 1 Squeaky bum time ???? OK, at least a top 6 spot is still in our own hands !!
  11. Bizarre twist of Fate ............ The owner of Hill Sixteen had a runner in the the last race, the NH Flat. It won at 18-1. A hollow victory for him I imagine.
  12. I bet four horses today at Aintree. Two of them, Dark Raven and Hill Sixteen (EW bet in the National, I sometimes follow Sandy Thomson / Ryan Mania horses) fell and we're fatally injured. Very sad. I am a jinx !!
  13. Jings, WTF put you on to that one ? Congratulations.
  14. I'd add Gogic to that list of candidates.
  15. Delighted to have been proved wrong in that final sentence.
  16. Was referred to as "cutthroat charlies" when I was a boy. I remember getting my haircuts there as a schoolboy back the 1960s. I remember having hair back then.
  17. There is no deal. I offered you a pact. You can still behave like a wanky arsewipe and I'll be ok with it, just include me out.
  18. This manager is the best thing to have happened to St Mirren in the last 40 years. He has created a monster that wipes out the enemy !!!
  19. That's because you're a wank. Oh, my mistake, you're absolutely 100% not one.
  20. What about a non-ridicule, non-insultability, non-being-an-arsehole pact rather an open-ended non-wankability deal ? That would be my choice FS.
