I'll go on record as stating that we won't be relegated this season.
Today we were utterly honking and were outplayed by one of the teams that we probably have to finish above, but let's put today's performance into context.
We have a brand new manager who has yet to sort things out and yet to impose his style of play on the guys wearing the stripes. Today he will have learned a hell of a lot about what sort of mess he has inherited and that (IMO) puts him one stage closer sorting it out. Half way through this appalling season it is obvious that we have some passengers, some imposters, and some dross. It's a cliche but you have to hit rock bottom before you can rise again. Good luck Alex Rae. Let's hope that we have witnessed our rock bottom and a January clear-out will be the start of our renaissance.
    KTF.

    Ridgers as number 1 ?
Langfield definitely should have done better for their first and third goals today but Ridgers is utter garbage as well.
We clearly have serious concerns in the goalkeeping position, but that is almost a side-issue because our problems are all over the park. A decent defence wouldn't have allowed the opposition four opportunities to score.
Alex Rae will have learned a lot about the individuals he has inherited. Let's hope he can bin a number of them in January.

Kelly had the standout honking performance for me today.

    I hope this isn't true. Please !!
If we sign McCulloch as a player then Alex Rae will have to follow the example of Robbie Neilson at Hearts and start concentrating on how to compete with only 10 men on the park.
Is Alex Rae about to repeat Davie Hay's trick as St Mirren manager by providing a pension pot for his past-their sell-by-date OF scumbag ex-colleagues ?

Didn't take you long to change your tune, one win against the team adrift at the bottom and things are a lot rosier

I say give SG and the BoD a bit of credit if Alex Rae is to be our new manager.
After repeatedly cocking-up with such a long string of wishy-washy appointments I'm pleased they have introduced a no-nonsense character into the manager's office at SMP. In a long career as a player Rae showed toughness and commitment on the park. No shirking from him, he was as hard as nails and knew he a particular job to do.
Right now we desperately need a tough disciplinarian at the helm. If Rae approaches this difficult challenge with the same attitude he had as a player I can see a lot of prima donnas being slapped down or shown the exit.
    Bring on the revolution !!

    This thread ???
    'Thinks' .............................. Lunatics and Asylum.
Lennon and MacPherson were incompetents and both of them deserved to be relieved of their duties at SMP.
The members of our current Board, several of whom courageously stepped forward in St Mirren's hour of need (effectively our hour of potential obliteration), and saved us from extinction by the asset stripper Reg Brearley should forever deserve our thanks. Thank you !!!
But since then this Board's record in appointing team managers has been unforgivably bad. Perhaps the short-term success we witnessed under Tom Hendrie 15 years ago would could be regarded as the sole exception but even Tom's time in charge imploded in the end. Even the amazing league cup success in 2013 under DL turned out to be a false dawn, nothing but a flash in the pan.
Ultimately this Board's strategy in selecting replacement managers has been flawed and the loyal St Mirren fans have suffered the consequences of their penny-pinching short-sightedness. Now that Ian Murray has (honourably) quit his post the BoD must get their act together and appoint the right person in the hot seat regardless of the short-term cost. Too much consideration of "well let's take the easy / cheap option as we will be selling up soon" has gone into the appointment of managers in the past. The cheapest option has been the preferred option every time.
So, moving forward, NOT ALEX MILLAR !!!!
The BoD have to wake up and think adventurously. They have to spend whatever is necessary to bring in the right person otherwise our spiral down the league structure will continue.
    NOT THE CHEAPEST OPTION !!!
