Can't see us signing another striker now Bahookie's back. If he'd have left we'd have been in the market for one, but he never so we aren't.

Sheffield Wednesday fans' opinion of Gary Teale.
Why don't we wait until we see him playing for St. Mirren (if he signs!) before we start slating him?

Has hardly kicked a ball since he left Rangers (RIP) in 2012.
Quite a gamble, let's hope it pays off.

A left winger and a centre half would be my priorities.
Can't be bothered explaining the logic, it's not like it will happen anyway!

Jason Scotland has been told he can leave Barnsley, Hibs interested in him supposedly. Worth a look if Hibs don't take him?

mikesmfc reacted to Lex in Has Mair Been Released?
If this does go through, how many mutual terminations will that be under Danny's stewardship?
It's a very expensive way to run a football club if you keep terminating contracts you've given to players before they expire.

mikesmfc reacted to Mr Zo in John Mcginn
If everyone applied themselves as well as John McGinn we wouldn't lose 4-0 to anyone. John McGinn is currently the best talent we have at the club. A far better talent than Stephen and he was decent wee player too. Several Celtic fans at work mentioned how well he played yesterday. He is a joy to watch and long may he play for the buddies.

mikesmfc reacted to Lex in Rate The 2013 Summer Transfer Window
Many people (myself included) posted their thoughts about the football clubs dealing in the summer transfer window at the time. Many people (perhaps rightly) asked for these signings to be given time to bed in and for them to be reviewed later in the season.
Well here we are, approximately half way through the season and approaching the January window. I think this is as good a time as any to look individually at the players who joined us for the first time in the summer and how they have performed so far:
David Cornell: Joined on a season long loan from Swansea and started the season as our number 1. After several shaky performances he rightly lost the number 1 spot in September, and he never played for the football club again. His loan deal was cancelled in December, half way into it. Rating: FAIL.
Kealan Dillon: 19 year old joined on a free transfer from Premier League Hull City. Started the season on the bench but never made an appearance for the first team. Mutual consented in December, halfway into his contract. Rating: FAIL.
Christopher Dilo: 19 year old (same age as Dillon) keeper joined on a free transfer from Blackburn in the summer. After starting the season as number 2 he won the gloves from Cornell for the trip to Easter Road. He then made a string of impressive performances before getting injured at Tynecastle and has since became number 2 to Kello. Looks like a very good young keeper. Rating: SUCCESS SO FAR.
Stephane Bahoken: The 20 year old joined on loan from Nice at the end of the window and was billed by Danny Lennon as ' the one we've been waiting for '. Hooked at half time in his debut and hooked in his second game, he never started for the football club again. Made a couple of no mark sub appearances before going AWOL during the international break which followed the 3-0 win at Firhill. Hasn't been seen at the club since and likely never will be again. Rating: FAIL.
Danny Grainger: Senior player on senior wages who can't get a game. Started every match in what was the clubs worst start to a league campaign this side of the war. After a shocking performance at Easter Road he was sent off at the end of the game. His suspension resulted in him losing his place. Him being out the side resulted in an immediate up turn in the clubs performance and he's never managed to win his place back; he hasn't started a league game since. Rating: FAIL SO FAR.
Gary Harkins: Senior player on senior wages who can't get a game. Started every match in what was the clubs worst start to a league campaign this side of the war. After a shocking performance at Easter Road he was sent subbed off at the end of the game. He was then finally dropped. Him being out the side resulted in an immediate up turn in the clubs performance and he's never managed to win his place back; he hasn't started a league game since. Rating: FAIL SO FAR.
Jake Caprice: 21 year old wide right player brought in on loan from Blackpool. Despite an injury to our first choice wide right player ( Teale ), the youngster has never managed a start. A few sub appearances hasn't seen him make any impact. I would be surprised if he was still here in February. Rating: FAIL SO FAR.
7 players joined the football club for the first time in the summer, and i make that 3 confirmed failures, 3 failures so far and 1 success so far out of 7. Let's hope we have a far better time in January, we really need it. I'd rate the summer window as an almost unmitigated disaster, what do you think?

Is there any reason why St Mirren shouldn't arrange a friendly for the date of our next weekend Parkhead fixture ? It wouldn't have to be lucrative or glamour, breaking even on the venture would do. If every SPL club did this for their Parkhead fixture Celtic would be forced to play all their home games in midweek which would cost them a bundle in attendance money. And it wouldn't half p*ss off their fans, especially ST holders and those that travel across the Irish Sea.

mikesmfc reacted to div in Marching In Video From 1991
This video was released on VHS (remember them fellow oldies ?) format only in 1991 and traces the history of the club up to that point. Some excellent footage and some classic goals are included and some tremendous scenes of a packed Love Street.
Narrated by Bob Crampsey it also includes a cringeworthy cameo from Dennis Law at the end for no apparent reason.
Some great footage in it, thanks to Yfab for converting it from VHS for buddies everywhere to enjoy. Go and watch it or download it (link to download is at the bottom of the article underneath the video stream) from the following link; http://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/news-archives/website-news/1966-marching-in -
mikesmfc reacted to div in Dome Damaged In The Storm
Seems whoever sent the initial text this morning was a bit over dramatic !
Brian has contact me and advised of the situation.
The emergency doors had blown in overnight, which of course caused the air to escape and the Dome deflated.
The structure of the Dome itself is fine.
There are contractors there at the moment working to repair the doors and then it should just be a case of re-inflating once they have completed their work.
Good stuff !!

In the last two FULL games in which Mr Collum has been the men in the middle he has:
Given us TWO Penalties
Sent off THREE Opposition players
Missed the most obvious handball ever by Goody.
Is Willie trying to get on our good side ?
Or is he just an Incompetent f**kwit ?

Any idea if it can be melted down and sold for three points?
Seems to be the only way Dim Dougie and out friends from the arse of the bank are going to get off the foot of the table.
And I was sure I had been told they were going to pass us on the way up this year.

mikesmfc reacted to dave.j in Tragic News, R.i.p. Good Buddie
I first met Simon when Jane and I started going out, maybe 4 years ago. He welcomed me into the crowd with open arms and really made me feel part of the gang and in general, made me feel welcome in paisley.
One of my favourite times was after the Aberdeen cup game, we watched it on the Saturday lunchtime in Borgia. Me, Jane, Simon, herbie, Danny Carnon and Jane's pal Kay, what a laugh we had, Simon, Danny and herbie were in great form playing off each other, old jokes and stories from their youth. I really felt part of it, and probably that day had a big effect on my interest in St Mirren.
Danny headed up the road and the rest of us headed on to the wee howf, via that place that's now hamish's hoose. I really have no idea what time we left at, but it had been an all dayer to beat any. And we all laughed from start to finish.
From that day on he'd always say hi, talking in length about Thistle, St Mirren and music. He'd always come for a chat at half time if I was at a st mirren game.
Last Thursday he messages Jane asking what the plans were for the game and where I was suggesting for a drink. Star n Garter, it would be. He was in great form as usual, and in even better form after it. Me, Jane, herbie and a few jags fans were heading down to the Woody, so I went over and said Cheerios. A couple of the lads were having a laugh with me about the score, but Simon put them right, go easy, Big Dave's a good guy.
So many things have went through my head since hearing this on Sunday night, what if I'd said to them, mon down to the Woody with us. It would have changed the whole timeline of his night... But you can't think like that. He was having a great night, and I was proud the St Mirren boys were enjoying their night in a thistle pub, my pub. And off we went with a hug goodbye, I think I may have joked he hAd really effeminate soft hands, but I can't recall. I just rember that big smile of his as I walked out the door.
So often when you hear of a tragedy like this, words like, kind hearted, genuinely honest, good natured, lovable, always smiling, are used to describe the person... Well every one of them, and more could be used to describe Simon. He really was all of these things and more.
Although I only knew you for a few short years, I'm honoured to have. I'm going to miss you Simon.
