Do they not have to be signed by Monday ?
-
From a not making duff signings point of view , this has been one of our most effective transfer window yet .
-
Or maybe at a lesser price , Would be nice to get something sorted out soon though and a couple of new players in
-
Make that transfer fees coming in please ,
-
I suspect it might all happen at the end of the season , potentially a couple of transfers coming in , most of the top earners at the end of their contracts , and more a less a blank canvas . What a disappointment the last couple of seasons have been , how can a team make so many duff signings
-
At the start of the season McLear and Mallan were registered as signings , they can,t be considered new signings . At the start of the season we had a very small squad , and have released Plummer , Caldwell , Dury , Hughes , and Marwood , and only brought Arquin in , so I would think another two new faces coming in would be a realistic expectation if we plan to go down with a fight.
-
Always like to see us take a chance , and it would probably make sense for us to have a couple of part time players so we could get a couple of decent players from the lower leagues and also maybe offer players coming from the juniors p/t contracts to start off with. Not suggesting we go part time , but if budgets are tight and our squad getting smaller , it make sense to have a group of part time players.
-
Hopefully booked from one of the companies that regularly takes Saints supporters ?
-
Well if that's the case , I,m hoping that we see a few new faces very soon ( free agents will do ) , you would think that if they have made their purchase / investment , they would want to ensure premiership safety , and also get their business vehicle moving , so with that in mind , I,m hugely disappointed we haven't seen any new signings from South America.
-
Not getting signed With regards to Kenny McLean , I reckon is far more valuable as a player now , than he was when the Argentinians started negotiating to buy the club , so much so that if selling Kenny is part of the deal , then they might even end up paying more for St Mirren and keeping Kenny to sell at a later date.
-
So in an ideal world , a deal that secures us a transfer fee , has add ons , and allows us to have Kenny on loan til the end of the season is the best option ?
-
£250k may have been a decent valuation for Kenny at the start of the transfer window , when his form was up and down , and when Saints could have used the fee reasonably effectively , but since the start of the transfer window Kenny,s form has improved , and Kenny has shown us that he has other aspects to his game , with that in mind I can only see him going if its an exceptional offer . I do think however Kenny will be sold at the end of the season ( having shown outstanding form , keepining us out of the bottom 2 )

The strength in our current team is the three attacking midfielders McLean , McGinn and Mallan , and any formation should be built round these three . IMO we should play a holding midfielder behind them , and a fast forward and a tall target man in front of them . So Mr Pini if your able to , send over a central defender , a holding midfielder , a big strong centre forward , and a forward fast as fcuk . At this stage we don,t need youngsters for these positions , four players in their mid twenties who think they should be playing in the premiership will do.
-
Was an article in one of the tabloids last year linking Rotherham with McGinn and Naismith , I think , not much more than that
-
Comparable with the second penalty Killie got against us , Ref couldn,t get his card out quick enough and ensure a sending off though

St Mirren V Dundee Premiership 24/1/15 3Pm Kick Off

Yep , Greg Stewart stretches and goes over the top and connects with Cheesy , he should have got a red and it was a reckless tackle , I think he feigns injury to try and avoid a card . Arquins two bookings are an absolute joke -

Watched highlights again , and to be fair I think both Dundee goals were okay , I would have hated us to have had them chalked off for offside . Harkins should have been booked in the first minute for his foul on the halfway line , and also consider himself lucky not to be sent off. Arquin should never have been booked for his first foul , and should have won two penalties . Greg Stewart was booked for a foul on McAusland , it should have been a red card as it reckless challenge. Also think we badly need some heading practice. -

Also for Arquins second booking , how many Dundee players actually shout at Arquin and accuse him of being a diver ? Blattantly cheated again. We should have our own TV crew filming every incident , so we can highlight the blatant cheating. Why wasn,t harkins booked for his foul in the first minute ? -

To give a fair balance on the referee,s performance , the highlights should show the tackle that Harkins put in , in the first minute that resulted in the freekick that led to Arquins header that was well saved . A far more bookable offence than both Arquins . Also McPake was signalling that his foul was an accident and not a dive . And was trying to not get himself sent off , for being a last man defender. -
He could have quite easily not gave the penalty and let play go on , but he couldn,t wait to get us , he just needed the slightest excuse
-
GT is doing quite well , and maybe if things don,t go well at Saints for him , other clubs might be interested

Would be good if a couple of the trialists were on the bench and maybe got the chance to be involved ( hopefully when we are coasting 3 - 0 ) -

I remember it a wee bit , think Saints got beat in the first round , I,m sure there was a book with the tv programme , prob abot 1978 -
I actually think this relegation dogfight , and the fact that we have a huge amount of inexperience in the team have highlighted aspects of Kenny,s game that we didn,t know about this time last year , but for a young player he is taking a huge amount of responsibility and showing tremendous leadership skills , and playing exceptionally well , which is quite impressive in a team which is struggling . Also think GT plans to keep Kenny until the end of the season , before moving him on . My opinion and respect for Kenny McLean as a player have improved hugely in the last six weeks , and I,ve always rated him , but think this relegation battle is bringing the best out of him .

Kenny,s attitude in recent games and his effort and commitment this season , have for me shown that he is a much improved player from last season , and it won,t surprise me if we get a few decent bids in , come the end of the season.
