  1. We need these youngsters to be coming into a team playing without fear , hopefully changes in the next few weeks can kickstart our season
  2. Unfortunately I think he will go , and the club pretty much have in mind what they are willing to accept . The fact that the club want a manager who is decent a wheeling / dealing suggests that part of the monies received will go on developing the squad , so it may be possible that our team could be improved after the transfer window. Also after seeing a couple of youngsters doing well yesterday , I,m quite confident of better players coming through over the next couple of years .
  3. Watched the kung fu kick at Naismiths chest , which the Motherwell player only got booked for , and noticed him lie down on the floor as if he,s in agony to dodge a red card ( which worked ) , . The Thompsons sending off incident was a Motherwell player hurting himself , whilst he himself was trying to hurt a player . And the ball is definitely over the line . Really disappointed in the editing . Wonder if the SFA compliance guy will have a look at the kung fu kick
  4. Ball looked well over , guy was flying through Thompson , and a foul could have easily been given against , Ref was out for us , and only a booking for kung fu kicking a St Mirren player in the last mintes
  5. To put the sending off into context , I think the tv highlights should show the Motherwell player going through Stevie Thompson from behind and getting spoken about the tenth minute , five minutes later the same player goes through Thompson again , clearly a foul by the Motherwell player , but both players go down. I actually thought the Motherwell player was feigning injury because he knew he had committed a foul and was trying to dodge a card ( again ) The Ref however couldn,t get his red card out quick enough and like everyone else totally bemused with the sending off . If the sending off was for retaliation , then I think we should have had the free kick ( another indication that the ref was out to get us ) Loads of inconsistencies , loads of bias towards Motherwell . Well done Teale for trying a few different things , and getting the team fired up. Can see us getting a few good results now , couldn,t see that a month ago.
  6. Would love us to appoint Butcher , but also keep Teale and Longwell on to assist , and get that Steve Marsella bloke to do the scouting and Goalkeeper coaching , thought the management team got a good performance from the team today , but thinking the experienced physically strong players Butcher has brought to ICT , along with some of youngsters coming through would be an excellent mix.
  7. suggesting fan ownership has its downsides , the same way a club owned by one individual or owned by a foreign based group has its downside , and giving an example of how unsuccessful a club owned by its fans can be. Our crowds have the potential to drop as low as Morton,s or Dunfermlines if the product on the park doesn,t improve. I think we need change , that will improve the product on the pitch .
  8. lets look at it his way lets just see how things go , deliver a shit product , and allow for 1500 and let things stay the same and watch crowns average below 3k , at first division prices and lets get a fan takeover bid sorted , and let average crowds go below 1k but we are a club owned by the fans so that's great COYS
  9. Stirling Albion have recently had a fans buyout , maybe its their model we should be following . A model which will have the fans flocking back in their thousands
  10. A lot of Argentinians are from Spanish and Italian backgrounds and would gain access to playing Europe through their grand parents nationality
  11. I think its all about price , potential media coverage , the fact that we share a border with England ( where the money in football is ) , and the potential to play European football , and showcase the talent to a wider audience ,. I don,t know what kind of club £1.5million will get in England , but St Mirren at that kind of price is excellent value.
  12. The current value a St Mirren share would be what the selling consortium have paid for each share , as they increase their holding. During the nineties , the current value of a St Mirren share went from £20 a share to £5 a share , and at one stage almost went to £1 a share.
  13. Hopefully good for us fans , getting the opportunity to watch better players , good for the long term future of the club , as it should increase crowds . Or we could just accept signings such as Marwood and Ball to what we deserve. Or we could have fan ownership like Stirling Albion , and then we,ll really be able to put a quality product on the park.
  14. The model of showcasing South American footballers wanting to play in Europe is a good one , how viable the bid in depends on who the consortium are , and also their ability and contacts to get good players in cheaply and to sell players on at a good price. All of a sudden our sale has went very public , and maybe the sellers feel there are two interested parties and are trying to aggressively progress things. Hopefully a deal going through means some fresh faces coming in during the transfer window
  15. Very pissed off with this , had planned a few beers before and after on the Saturday ( evening kick offs make it too difficult for post match drinking and last train ) , televised the same fixture earlier on in the season , very disappointed.
  16. Dundee bought players with a view of selling them on , as did Hearts , think the model was based on the Real Mallorca model , and was dependant on selling a player on for a decent fee and then using the money to buy another couple of " assets " , most Scottish clubs tried to do this during the seventies and eighties with Scottish players ., think this would be interesting , and the set up we have is almost a perfect fit for the model , quite an exiting prospect , but also a bit scary , I,d be happy for us to give it a go .
  17. Alex Miller is an interesting shout , one last go at management , one last chance to prove himself , and also an opportunity to say solid foundations for the our future , He has made a good living out of football , and will probably be aware of how skint Scottish clubs are so might be within our budget , He would also be able to get the team fired up , good shout IMO.
  18. Ideally Terry Butcher , Would be happy with Stevie Thompson , and even Dumbartons manager , but I think it should be a minimum contract until June 2016 .
  19. I can see the point in this after offering a clown a two year contract first time round , but to I think that we should appoint someone that can generate a fighting spirit within the team , and also identify the type of players we need to survive in this league , or if we are relegated be able to be part of a side able to challenge for promotion , we have to see the appointment as a three year plan , rather than a six month plan.
  20. perfect time for this would be the start of the season , maybe if we are still with a chance of staying up , it could be started at the first post split game .
  21. I think we need an appointment that the players respect , someone who will get the players and fans fired up , and for that reason I would appoint Stevie Thompson , I think there is still a place for Teale and Longwell , but there need to be someone with considerable experience and wheeler dealing in the management team too, and with that in mind I think Jimmy Nicholl would be an excellent choice . I would also consider bring in Steve Marsella , and using him the same way Inverness did . If Butcher were available I would opt for him , but I suspect we have missed out. This appointment shouldn,t be seen as stop gap , it should be seen as the start of something new.
  22. We are beginning to look like the wee semi down the street , that was a nice wee place , but was overpriced when it went on the market , consequently it has stuck on the market too long , potential buyers think there is something wrong , and its now Sarah Beeny time , which means tidying up all the bits that are letting it down , and the putting it back on the market at a realistic price.
  23. Its a sensible amount to ask for , as a club might pay that amount , I think Alloa had £25k as the amount they wanted compensation for Harley , and Hartley just walked out on Alloa for a couple of weeks before signing for Dundee
  24. £10k for Murray = two players on loan , with us meeting the wage bill . Sill prefer Butcher or Steven Thompson
  25. My preferred choice of St Mirren manager would be dependant on the clubs ownership , and the type of player that the club wish to sign. If we have foreign owners wishing to bring in players from abroad , we could probably get by with coaching staff / management already at the club. If the rumour of new ownership is incorrect , then we need a guy with a knowledge of decent players who will come to Scotland and fit in with our wage structure , and with the strength of character to get the best out of an existing squad low on confidence . Like Terry Butcher . Steven Thomson would also be a good choice if the right mentor was in place .
