I’d like to apologise to Tess.
Didn’t realise even the Daily Record would attribute the quote from a taxi driver to a player!!!
Oh and, adopts M&S voice…. “This wasn’t just a taxi driver, this was a Glasgow Airport taxi driver”.
They’re bad enough when you’re ‘only’ going to Glasgow, but on the few occasions I’ve gone from the airport to Paisley the attitude stinks.

    Where to start.
Disappointed in Tess for sure. Best you can say is that he’s been naïve and somehow hoped he could slate the town, the club and its fans, but because he did it in Dutch it wouldn’t make it back here.
Angry, but hardly surprised, at the Daily Record – though yet another excuse (as if another excuse was needed) to despise that rag.
But more than anything disappointed with the “yeah, well, Paisley is a shithole” responses from most people on here.
    Notting Hill was a shithole in the 70s – now it’s £1m+ for a 1 bedroom flat.
Closer to home, Glasgow was a shithole (and a violent one at that) for most of the post-war years. People laughed that the city had the audacity to even think about applying for City of Culture status.
Fast forward just over 20 years and it’s lauded as one of the best cities in the country with tourists coming far and wide for shopping, museums, events etc.
Paisley is far from perfect due to years of neglect (some of it seemingly wilful) but has a potential that few other towns in Scotland have.
Despite what’s gone, the town still has a beautiful and compact centre – and there are people out there who are trying to bring it back to life. I’m sure there are plenty of people who live in Paisley but work elsewhere, and shop and socialise in Glasgow, because of the current lack of life in Paisley.
What we need is a ‘virtuous circle’ – more good places to eat, drink, shop means more people will spend money and time in the town – leading to more good places to eat, drink shop.
I believe it can happen, but when I see how quickly even people who you’d imagine would have an affinity with the town are happy to accept the “it’s a shithole” position, then I can see why it’s such a hard job.

It came from a Dutch magazine. Presumably in Dutch. The Record have translated it, probably though Google translate.

For me it's taking your wee boy to Aberdeen away. They get pumped, hardly a shot on target, he says they're rubbish but still comes out smiling and singing Saints songs.

Glad its only a short term contract , he might actually be quite good , but if he,s not , he,s off , and not hanging about like a bad smell , with regards to Sadlier and Sonupe , I wonder if they are up here short term to get a feel for the place , with a view of being here next season.

Gow would be a good replacement for McLean. Let's hope we sign the Norwegian and Bulgarian too.

My opinion? There are too many idiots around who would abuse it. The present arrangement makes sense. Lifting the beer ban is a bad idea.

I dunno Billy, I knew him from when he was 16 or so and he was liable to nick from his mates and drop people in it even then, he was also given to some very dark moods which i think belied the way he would eventually turn out.
but he could also charm the birds from the trees and get anyone laughing, I recall the story of how he bought a cheap cricket bat and put false autographs of the England team on it (he was from an English family and a big cricket fan) and sold it to a fellow traveller as he passed himself of as Bob Woolmer to a fellow traveller. £2 bat fetched what was then a lot of money, but both parties were delighted with the deal.
he also swiped a VCR from the home of a renowned junior footballer who was also, some would argue, a bit "tasty" himself and sold it to someone who knew the guy, Brockie forgot to remove a tape the guy had of himself playing in the junior cup final and the new owner put 2 +2 together and gave it straight back. Despite getting a bit of close attention from the renowned footnallers mates DB still managed to sweet talk his way back into their circle.
i have dozens more stories about him that would make folk laugh and shudder in equal measure

He got thrown out of his room in the Isle of Man and invited himself to share a room with my mates , who were about 18 at the time , and who thought Brocky was a good guy . Strangely enough , the day after Brocky moved into the room one of the lads had his case ripped open and his wallet and contents stolen . Being the good guy he was was , Brocky gave my mate a tenner and threatened to give the culprit a do in if he ever found him .
It was only a few years later , when stories of filling stations being robbed , did Brocky become a suspect for nicking my mates wallet ( which in all fairness he might have not done ).
At the time , we thought he was a trainee manager at John Menzies , who would kindly pass on his staff discount , to any of his St Mirren supporting friends.
Who also managed to get every Saturday off to follow St Mirren home and away .

I felt sorry for McGinn on Saturday. He started on the left of a 4 man midfield that was quite obviously going to be overrun, then was shifted to the right as an inverted winger (seriously Teale?). Then shifted as an attacking midfielder (trying to get him to play the McLean role I think) as we went to a 5 man midfield with a target man striker in Arquin on the right. All in the space of 45 minutes.
It was a Tommy Craig-esque show from the management team of not having a clue of what they were doing.
