Also regarding mobiles, isn't it such a convenient excuse to have it destroyed or lost when required.
https://news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-offers-humble-apology-and-blames-new-phone-for-failing-to-release-messages-to-downing-street-flat-probe-12510076
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/feb/08/rebekah-vardy-said-she-would-love-to-leak-stories-about-coleen-rooney-to-media-instagram
Some of the private messages relating to the case are missing, for a variety of unfortunate reasons. Vardy’s former agent said her mobile phone was accidentally dropped in the North Sea shortly after Rooney’s lawyers requested access to the device.
“Coincidentally, around the same time, all media files from Mrs Vardy’s WhatsApp conversation with Ms Watt also bizarrely disappeared (and from all backups), whilst apparently in the process of exporting it to her solicitors,” said Rooney’s lawyers.
Whats the chances. [emoji1787]
If we're talking the chances of an extremely unlikely thing happening to remove the evidence then I'd say odds-on - there's plenty of times it's happened before, after all... -
Working where I do this type of stuff is endemic. A few years back we were buying an off the shelf ultra high pressure washer and spec'd stainless steel nozzles in lieu of standard carbon steel. The QA Engineer decided that this change meant that we would need a full engineering report on the effects of the changesbon the original design of the unit. Until I pointed out that we didn't have anyone qualified to do that and that essentially the change was akin to speccing alloys on a Ford Fiesta instead of standard. In fairness, he backed off at that point...

Next door to Curry & Paxton in Moss Street is a Tobacconist. Also on the same side as the Times office was the Hairdressers/Barbers. As they now say on BBC Scotland radio, there is other papers. Who can remember the other evening paper, the Citizen and their office in Old Sneddon.
Tobacconist is still there, Harvie's? -

So which is it, a bridge or a lift...or is it both?Aye?
The Wheel (as it is known) is a unique lifting bridge designed to reconnect the Forth & Clyde and Union canals between Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. It is the world's first rotating boat lift and the first boat lift to be built in the UK since 1875.

Well done guys, a thread to pay tribute to a living club legend for his service for almost 50 years descends into yet another squabble over SMISA. You should be proud of yourselves.
@div - I know there's not much moderating done these days but can't someone sort out this clusterf**k. -
PRW, Glasgow in the article.PRW?[emoji15] -
I didn't see any numbers by any sources for people who would travel out of Scotland, and Wales, and the terms used could be seen as exaggeration, say like tsunami, so let's just leave it at that, as this is a very minor part of the original article. I DON'T believe that if one part of an article is "exaggerated" the rest has no credibility.
It's not 'exaggerated', it's a downright falsehood. Here's the article from The Scotsman, not a publication known to support independence for Scotland.
https://www.scotsman.com/health/coronavirus/covid-scotland-scots-did-not-flock-to-england-for-hogmanay-amid-coronavirus-restrictions-data-shows-3519013
It wasn't hard to find.
He's either incompetent, and doesn't fact check, or he's deliberately published it anyway knowing it was false. Either way, in my book anyway, he loses all and any credibility - as does any other writer under those circumstances. It's early days for the next attempt to leave the UK, I DO remember plenty of the bitterness and bile that was used the last time, let's sit back and see how this develops.
There was, from loonies on both sides. -
So, in the original article you dismissed it because of the person who wrote it, you're now dismissing the Express article because you don't believe it.
What about this, maybe the people are actors or had just used the hot air balloon that[mention=5]FTOF[/mention] had hired out?
https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/gallery/scottish-revellers-newcastle-new-year-22615829
Focusing on one particular point when the main point, again, is the SNP were disproportionate in the latest instance with the Omicron variant, is desperate.
If you, or [mention=5]FTOF[/mention] are getting "off" on the numbers rather than the facts that wee NIcky fecked up, then fire in.
Just send your hilarity to the business's who were fecked over for the "flu", and wee Nicky trying, and failing, to gain political points.
Desperation, indeed, faraway. Stick with me here.
Did people travel south of the border for New Year celebrations? Yes, they most certainly did. However, not in the numbers your man (and the unionist media including the BBC) claimed would happen and then tried to mislead people into believing had actually happened. Instead, a simple search demonstrates that the numbers are consistent with last year's numbers.
The man on the Clapham omnibus ([emoji2398] bluto, remember him?) can only conclude that a failure to carry out this simple research before committing to publishing throws everything else the writer is saying into doubt. Ergo, his article loses any and all credibility.
It might well be your opinion that the restrictions were badly handled, it might well be mine for that matter, neither is relevant to the matter in hand. You asserted that Scottish independence supporters will get more and more desperate while using the rantings of a rabid British nationalist to support your assertion. Can't you see the irony?
-
Using the Express to defend the bollocks claims, faraway? That's a bit desperate...Didn't you see news reports showing that exact thing?
https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1543147/Scotland-england-new-year-eve-invasion-Nicola-sturgeon-latest-covid-omicron-lockdown
Why would people be coming to Scotland when it was shut? [emoji38]
Cherry picking certain issues, in this case a massive OG, is desperate.
Oh my, getting better and better.
[emoji1787][emoji23][emoji1787]
Rail operator figures showed no increase in passenger numbers compared to previous years and road traffic was the same. And that's both ways for both ergo, there was no mass exodus down south to England for Hogmanay and the same number of people from South of the border came to Scotland for Hogmanay.
Here's an article saying that and, before you decry it because it's The National, the article is based on figures made public by The Scotsman.
https://www.thenational.scot/news/19833200.covid-scotland-data-shows-scots-didnt-flock-england-new-year-celebrations/ -
Aye, let's ignore the desperate nationalism on show in the piece...this completely disproven shite for a start:As I said, WHO wrote the piece isn't important, it's the sentiment which I believe to be relevant.
Desperate, wasn't it the rabid SNP support who dismissed the older voters in the last referendum? [emoji38]
Fear, aye, when it suits the narrative.
"This has led to the ridiculous situation, as recently as New Year’s Eve, when Scots piled on to trains for Newcastle"
Naw they didnae, it was the other way roon because Hogmanay = Scotland.
If that's no desperate, what is? -
Aye, playing with livelihoods to try to prove a point....................backfired.
https://uk.yahoo.com/news/scotland-played-politics-pandemic-lost-202916484.html
Nicely done, illustrated your fear by posting a link to a desperate nationalist.I don't mind at all.
I await more bitter and twisted points over the next year or so as the desperate nationalists become more rabid by the day. [emoji38]
[emoji846] -
You know you're in trouble when Baz & faraway are agreeing with each other...
[emoji846] -
That's probably the best written one yet.
-
Not saying that, and I get what's being suggested by the data, just pointing out that nothing definite is known yet so, imo anyway, we're better erring on the side of caution. But I'm old and risk averse so I would say that...I totally understand the personal situation but that can't be used across the population.
For everyone in the bracket you have quoted there will be many many more who will have had nothing or next to nothing.
South Africa actually have LESS people in hospital and ICU compared to the earlier numbers that Delta had produced.
At this stage there's nothing to suggest this variant is more serious than any others.
There will be new variants for evermore, are we to close down society every winter?
[emoji846] -
They're both young and healthy and Omicron's done that to them when the other variants had no effect on them whatsoever. What's it going to do to old diabetic stroke victims like me if one of us gets it?If its nothing more than confined to bed and feeling shite, it IS mild though.
-
Sorry to hear that. Out of curiosity, are they both double jagged and, if so, what vaccine? Apparently Pfizer is better against this varient.

Not sure what they were given but my son didn't get his second jag, it was due in September but he got Covid so it was postponed. And rearranged for yesterday...
This is actually the third time the dil's caught it (think she's going for a record) and I know she's had both and the booster (for work reasons). She first caught it July last year and lost taste and smell which hasn't come back but this is the first it's floored her. -
I hope it's the new variant they caught, less chance of ANYTHING happening to them to talk of.
You say that, faraway, but my son and dil caught Covid in September, both were completely asymptomatic. The two of them picked up Omicron last week (confirmed by NHS), both confined to bed completely f**ked. -

Did my own on Friday morning, had real issues and more than a few goes but persevered and got there. It was another 24 hours before the info was fully available, mind.
Did hers a hour or so ago and it went through nae bother, probably about 15-20 mins from start to finish.

This thread sums up what being a St Mirren supporter is all about - get your hopes up then have them dashed almost immediately. One consolation is that now and again they're not dashed, so...I live in hope.
[emoji846] -
About 6 yellows and 1 red - so far..
Should've been 2 reds, Hayes 2-footed attempted assault was a straight red to me. The fact he never made contact might be why it was yellow in Gollum's eyes but the intent was there.

This is just getting silly now@DivI agree with everything that is said above, now everything is different before we wrote an essay, but now it can be found on the Internet and only time will tell what will happen next. And now children are sitting only on phones and that's it. Even to take an example from school, we read William Shakespeare, for example, Macbeth, and now this is not. It's good that there is a helpful site with limitless information. Where to find an essay is very simple. At least here children can read something and learn something.
4 Day Week
in General Nonsense
Posted
I've been working a 4 day week for a good few years now, 0730-1715 M-T. Best thing ever and if I need to work on a F/S/S I get double time.
Working from home was the icing on the cake, saves me a 45 min drive each way.
Next step in the process is getting the total hours worked reduced but since I've got less than 2 years to retirement, I suspect I won't see it happen before I'm done.
