The most unexpected effect of Coronavirus for me is the mind warping going on - I've found myself agreeing with Piers Morgan at times but it's getting worse, this has happened...

As an update to the first effect of Coronavirus on me personally, I got my Oz flights refund through on Friday from the agent despite Singapore Airlines not having coughed up. Took a review on Trustpilot and a threat to start a debit card charge back procedure to get there but good result in the end.

Paid SAL directly for extra legroom seats on the two long flights but luckily used a credit card for that and got the money back via Section 75.

Going to try my luck with the travel insurance next, we had a 12 month Europe policy and extended it to cover Oz so going to attempt to get the extra cost back. Fingers crossed.

Researched the data you say? That's just turned it into a fantasy, that would never happen in real life...

Yes. I think we’ve had literally a couple of new cases in the last couple of weeks and only about 6 live cases in the hospital. 20 odd deaths in total all bar one of which have been very elderly.
We came out of lockdown a couple of weeks ago. We are allowed out for as long as we like. Shops are open again as are restaurants and pubs, albeit only al fresco areas and with social distancing. I went out for a meal on Friday night for my birthday with my wife and daughter. Felt a bit weird, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Since the relaxation there has been no more than a couple of new cases. Fingers crossed it will stay that way.
Guernsey is poised to reopen its borders again and I don’t think we’ll be far behind them.

Because scientists have been researching into pandemics for years. They've tracked the way it would spread and they have some statistics to go on with past pandemics. There are lots of papers on these possible outbreaks and the way they would spread. Not sure about the bats thing but other viruses have crossed species via different animals so I wouldn't be surprised if scientists knew about possible bat connections. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that the film makers simply researched that data.

I was put in that book a long time ago by a poster far, far away.

Fair enough, but I find it hard to believe that Denmark with much less natural and economical resources than Scotland can do this but we couldn't.

Denmark can do this but Scotland wouldn't be able to?

Yes, but, in the current crises not balancing out what we are receiving.
Apologies, I'd found an article during the week which laid out the scenarios IF Scotland was independent right now.
It was full of "unlikely" and "restricted financial support" scenarios, although, like much of what's going on right now, highly subjective.
Mainly because of that I didn't bother bringing it into this thread as we're currently drowning in "scientific" reports that only add conflict and confusion.
I can't flippin find it so I'll leave it that.

    Financially.
PS Last sentence apart, it's not meant as a dig.
The current situation would have been much harder without the financial "support" from the UK government.

That might have had some merit if it wasn't for the fact one of the cabinet is doing briefings EVERY day. If nothing was changing then why would any minister be updating. Updating being the operative word. A leader should be seen to be leading. I think BoJo is being kept out of the limelight by Cummings as he's a liability in a crisis.

I really liked the universal ingredients list, it's the simple things that amuse me. Is it wrong that I'm still laughing at this?

The Buffoon has lied and conned himself into a position that is VERY MUCH a concern of modern British society and mine because - instead of keeping his mind on the job, concentrating in the task at hand and leading (all of which he has never been able to do) - he has been deploying a litany of excuses for not doing his job.
    Or just being posted MISSING.
The spaffing of kids is not my concern but if you'd been paying attention that was the subject raised by another poster - to whose post I was replying.
The Buffoon has shown no signs of such paternal devotion to his many other kids.

Leaders should be accountable and visible to be brought to account.
    It's not 1950 any more.

    I hope this helps?
