  1. I don't know any of you personally but have the time of your lives tomorrow Buds. I'll never have been prouder when I see Thommo, Cheesy and co walk out at Hampden tomorrow. I hope this is the greatest day for our beloved football club.
  2. Must admit, the nerves are already starting to kick in and that's more than a week before the game. I think I'm more nervous about losing this one than the last one, which we weren't expected to get anywhere close to winning until certain things happened during the game. This time, there is a certain expectation, given that many think we are no worse than this Hearts team, and I believe we have a better squad as a whole. I'll be saying this for the next nine days, but please St Mirren, don't f**k this up!
  3. Isma voted Player of the Round in the Scottish Cup.
  4. More good news for us. No disrespect to Hearts but if we can't beat that team now, which is full of inexperience and average players, we deserve nothing.
  5. If we go on to win either cup he'll be a hero in my eyes as his goals played a vital part in getting us there. In fact, I'd suggest that without the signing of Isma, our season would currently be over.
  6. Get voting for this outstanding human being as player of the round for the Scottish Cup: apps.facebook.com/my-polls/kkyjx
  7. Peterhead (HMP) is more his level...
  8. I haven't watched - does Thommo talk about Rangers Sevco in it? That's most probably it.
  9. Agree, I think it's been a very productive transfer window - we've strengthened in two key areas and kept our left back. I still think the defence is a big weakness but if it can perform like it did on Sunday, we'll be OK.
  10. I'd let her rain on my parade...
  11. It seems fairly accurate and up to date, so according to this - http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Scottish_Premier_League_Top_Goalscorers.html - Thommo needs two more league goals to go joint-10th in the all-time SPL goalscorers chart; three to go joint-eighth; 13 to go seventh and 15 to go sixth along side Kenny Miller.
  12. SPL: 58 (1) appearances, 25 goals. Scottish Cup: 4 appearances, 1 goal. League Cup: 6 (1) appearances, 4 goals. TOTAL: 68 (2) apps, 30 goals. Pretty fecking good if you ask me.
  13. I had my suspicions, but he promised he wasn't cheating. Promised! Ahhh who am I kidding? I can't stay mad at him!
  14. I don't now why anyone is desperate to see Thommo become our manager. I want him on that pitch for as long as f**king possible!
  15. Our squad is still relatively thin, so I wouldn't be letting Imrie go anywhere. All we need is one medium/long-term injury and we're back to square one. For the first time in a while, it actually looks like we have some strength in depth in our squad. Why would we let that go now with us still competing on three fronts?
  16. Danny's hinting in the PDE that we're done for the transfer window. We haven't seen everyone's wish of a new defender coming true; however, has Newton's arrival effectively done that, as it's allowed Goodwin to move back into defence? He's been like a new signing in that position. I have to say that if both Newton and Isma carry on from their performances on Sunday, it will have been a very successful transfer window IMO. When was the last time we signed two players in January who went on to become key players almost immediately?
  17. Ditto for Steven Thompson. It's fair to say these guys were landmark signings for us in summer 2011, but neither really impressed immediately. However, their form this season in particular has been outstanding and it shows that they have so much still to give despite their advancing years. I'm not sure if it's down to anything in particular, but both to me look fitter and stronger than before. It wasn't too long ago that neither could really keep up that kind of performance for 90 minutes, but now they're doing it regularly. I would hand them both new contracts now, before any other clubs come sniffing around. Both could easily play in any SPL team.
  18. Apologies. I'm just listening to the radio interviews. If this is us in the semi, what will we be like in the final?! Fantastic to hear the pundits actually acknowledging the fact that we were so good though. It's not often that happens. Isn't it amazing how one result can turn a season, and people's feelings for their team? I have to be honest - this season, I've been less than inspired. The SPL's been great this season for competition, but there was just a flat feel about St Mirren. Now, my love for my club and for this game has been rekindled again. I guess that's what football is all about.
  19. Reading every single post in this thread epitomises why we all support St Mirren. That last line said it all: "I f**king love this football club." Personally speaking, if we win that cup in March, it will make 20-odd years of following Saints through thick and thin, and shite and more shite, worth every single minute.
  20. Remember when Neil Lennon said Wanyama was worth £25 million? LOL.
  21. I'm going to be slightly controversial here and say that there were several players I'd choose ahead of Cheesy - his central defensive partner for one, who was inspirational. McAusland probably never put a foot wrong all afternoon except for Celtic's equaliser, where he lost Hooper and tried to play the offside trap, a very dangerous game against a poacher like him. I'm being harsh perhaps but it it's a credit to him and his teammates that he never let it get to him. I am not saying he had a bad game though, far from it, and I'd love to see him get a national cup winner's medal. There is one thing Cheesy can never be faulted for, and that is heart, desire and effort, and he's been through the wringer a few times. He deserves it.
  22. I thought he was excellent. Tired second half but that was to be expected - and even then he was still taking the man on. For the first time since he arrived at the club, Steven Thompson might have found a worthy strike partner, even if it's coming off the left wing. I can't wait to see him up against weaker opposition.
  23. Hearts get a bad press from some and I know there is bad blood historically between us and them. However, it makes this final so much more special knowing that we won't have to put up with any of that nonsense above. We've been accused in the past of being Celtic sympathisers, Hearts of being Rangers sympathisers, and no doubt the odd neutral take that view for the final in deciding who to support. However, by and large, Hampden will be filled with good, honest football fans who support their team on football grounds and nothing else. I didn't attend Hampden yesterday for a few reasons, and while I'm a bit sad that I didn't experience it first hand, I was on the edge of my sofa the whole way through. I genuinely thought I was having a coronary when Thommo's goal went in! And even if it was one of the Old Firm we were playing in the final, of course I'd be there. But knowing now I will be attending that match with, almost to a man, genuine, honest football fans on both sides is a massive, massive plus for me. You get good guys supporting the Old Firm, but it doesn't come across sadly when certain songs get sung, and I felt physically sick in 2010 when we had to put up with some of the bile that came from the Rangers fans above us. Any Hearts fan that I've come across, while still mindful of 1986, supports their club for one reason: football. And that's all they talk about. Hearts' most influential song was written, AFAIK, by a St Mirren fan. That kind of says it all for me. May the best team win.
