St Mirren FC and SMiSA will not be one and the same thing after the purchase and will be governed by differing pieces of legislation - as is now. What is now 1200 members now may well be 500 after completion of the purchase, will the monthly outlay still make sense at that point?
Maybe they should just employ someone on an ad hoc basis to maintain the systems they presently have. Better still, speak to the Uni to see if they will provide an intern to 'upgrade' what SMiSA have at present.

And how many years will be it be of use? After the buyout is complete, you can be sure there will be an exodus..

What makes anyone think that all members will even bother to register on the new system, given that a large percentage don't even vote on the 3 monthly spend ?

And there we have it, the closest thing to an expert on here(probably) reckons it's on the expensive side.
 
Now even if div has no interest in creating or maintaining something for this, he's the ideal guy to ask the question of "do you think this is decent value for money" 
If there is also a spend limit on what can be approved then the question should've been asked to the membership. If its been thought out and is without doubt the best option then it would probably be approved, but it's about the process. If that's what the process is(and I'm taking LPMs word for it) then the question should've been asked. 
 
That's not negative, it's not moaning about the spend, it's about following any processes that have been agreed. Giving the information and letting people decide. 

Additional posts so far include the usual tactic of making up completely imaginary arguments up and then arguing against them to the death. Some crackers today already :-
1) He infers someone that alternatives would need to replicate the exact system SMISA have bought when that is not necessary and nobody argued for this.
2) That any "customised solution" would need to be hand-coded from scratch when nobody suggested this and all that would be required would be a little customisation of a free Content Management Systems with a few extensions installed.
3) That asking questions is "negative".
4) That if you don't have detailed knowledge of this specific hugely expensive software solution then you can't have a credible view.

There is much cheaper software out there to manage a database of 1200 people.

Totally agree 100% with this, Great post Sally,  The atmosphere is getting worse every season with these fans and I believe its only a matter of time before the shit hits the fan with this decision, having them at both ends of our stadium is surely asking for trouble, and it wont take much to start it,  The safety and matchday experience of our fans should be the boards priority not making a quick buck.....   and long term [ IMO ] it financially damages our club,

Our league cup win was not only celebrated by Saints fans now prepared to write it off as meaningless to justify lack of preparation... But galvanised and lifted a whole town.

It pains me that such a wonderful experience is so easily written off just to toe the party line.

Agree. Every cup competition is important. The best chance of honours for a club our size.
