  1. Folk who think we can do better than the Gallaghers of this world at present are delusional.
  2. Thought we had an option on Gallagher? Seem to remember something about Rangers having first refusal and then us?
  3. Being reported by the Dundee Courier which knows their local clubs to be fair. Shame but realistically any player who does well for us over the next few years will be off pretty sharpish. Sun also reporting Dundee bid £60k for Mallan - tuck that away for next time they greet about "derisory offers" for their players.
  4. Any idea when these will be ready? Hoped to have mine before I go on hols in a fortnight.
  5. Thought Baird and Kelly did fine. Baird in particular was impressive. We struggled down the flanks though. Conlan's struggling and Naismith bombs forward too much and struggles to recover. Fck knows what the answer is though.
  6. Shite score but plenty positives (in the context that I think the very best we can expect this season is a play off place). We were in control both times they scored. The team needs work but I can see the direction IM wants to take us and like it. Baffling decision to bring on Cuddihy instead of Goodwin and I hope IM realises it ultimately, arguably, cost us the game. Had one of our chances gone in at 1-1, we'd have strolled it. Not too disheartened.
  7. Cheesy was in the family stand today. We could've done with him on the pitch.
  8. He scored his last 3 (4?) in a row - why wouldn't he take this one? He didn't take one for almost 4 seasons after his last miss so it's not like vanity plays any part - he was nominated, he took it, he missed. Shit happens. Doubt he'll take another.
  9. I disagree - loyalty to club legends brings fans and club together and adds something special to the relationship. Unlike some of the cretins who played for us last season, he's taken a pay cut to try and make amends - I respect that and would rather have someone who cares about the club than a nobody journeyman. I see promotion as a 2 year job and Thommo can help on the pitch in the first year. Surely he has a bit of credit in the bank?
  10. Fuxake. Unbelievable. The guy's playing for us for the love of the club, his presence ensured the best time for the club in 3 decades and no one will be more gutted than him tonight. What did people realistically expect from him tonight?
  11. Poor start. Got better. Work to do. Rangers were much better than us. Exactly as I expected. Fin (ETA Absolutely bizarrely, it looks like Thommo could be the boo boys' target this year going by comments from some of the weirdos on here).
  12. I'd have him back. Previous management insistence on trying to make him play from the back almost ruined him. When doing the basics in a simple fashion, he was fine.
  13. original reports suggested it was thrown in frustration / temper tantrum rather than as a prank - has that ever been cleared up?
  14. If we're mid-table we'll be scrapping for a play off place and that'll do me this season - anything else is bizarrely unrealistic given what's happened to our team in the past 2 years. IM is patiently piecing together a team from - and with - virtually nothing. To suggest we should in any way challenge Rangers and Hibs this year is stupid. And we're currently way behind Falkirk as well. This should, at least, be a 2 year project. Some of the nuggets on here are either willingly blind or just know nothing about football.
  15. Don't care that he left but the continual manoeuvring has left a bad taste - going public with his compensation bid for being speared, the transparent Houston threat, failing to turn up for training. He's well within his rights to do all those things but he comes across as a poor man's Scott Allan. One good season followed by a bad one. I suspect he'll sink like a stone now the same as his brother is.
  16. My favourite post on this forum. Ever.
  17. Yesterday's man. It does call into question our strategy as a club though. We've ploughed cash into youth development for virtually no return. Clubs like ICT, County and St Johnstone haven't bothered and have been far more successful than us. The SFA do f**k all to support or favour those who develop talent. Why bother? Get a job lot of English journeymen up every season for the same cost and stop developing young players for other teams to take for free.
  18. McGinn is out of contract and free to sign for whichever club wants him. The sticking point is that club would then be due us a fee, set by a tribunal, of at least around £250k. Clubs will have noted he was bang average last season and - I surmise - is the type of character that sues his club for a mere training ground accident. He is clearly not coming back to Love St and clubs are in no rush to pay for him - a promising career potentially ruined it would seem. Ah well....
  19. He's within his tights to sue but what a low blow and what a signal to send out to future employers. In McGinn and Thommo I had 2 players I wanted to keep from last season's out of contract. Now I have just 1. A sad way for it to end.
  20. Agree with DG - long periods of nothingness (including his whole first season) interspersed with a few good games. See also Kenny McLean to a lesser extent.
  21. As we bid farewell to the top tier and wait for IM to get back from hols, thought it might be good to re-live the last (near) decade. So I put together my favourite team of the Premier league era just finished. Not necessarily the best, just my favourites. Just players who played the at least most of a season since Gus took us up til Tommy took us down: GK Gallacher LB Carey RB Barron CB Broadfoot CB McGregor M Murray M McGowan M J McGinn M Dorman CF Goncalves CF Thompson Subs: Samson, Dummett, Haining, Newton, McLean, Dargo, Sutton What's other folks' top 11?
