Tennant's Lager got a reaction from bingboy in 10000Hours Statement On Recent Events
So you would absolutely refute any claim that the questions in the poll closing on Wednesday were reverse-engineered to obtain what would appear be a favourable outcome for the proposals which only publicly emerged y'day? Good.
What we need now is clarity on the position of the club & 10k Hours wrt the aforementioned latest proposals. Hopefully this can be addressed over the coming days and the meetings next week.
Personally speaking I for one find the idea abhorrent that a Newco Rangers could be parachuted into any other position than 42nd out of 42 in the league structure and don't understand why the latest proposals are being bundled together with said Newco Rangers emerging at notionally position #22, when the vast majority if not all measures outlined could (and should) be happening quite independently from the Rangers issue.
The Saints fans need straight talking and honesty from the 'higher ups'. Please let this be the case going forward.

If we cast our minds back to the period where it looked for all the world like a Rangers newco would be greased straight into the SPL - I came on here and said I wouldn't renew my ST for this season - just as many others did. Naturally received accusations of trying to organise a campaign that would damage our club, but as subsequent weeks have proven, that accusation came from a forum user whom, if he told me today was Friday, I'd go and check my calendar.
Anyway, as things dragged on, with no sign of a resolution to the Rangers debacle in sight, it was my low-level involvement with the 10000hours CIC bid that helped make my final decision, and that decision was to take the plunge and re-new my ST. If the CIC came to fruition, we'd have supporter involvement, and the opportunity to make our individual voices heard.
My decision to go ahead and renew my ST was made to seem absolutely the right thing to do, as Vlad broke ranks and said 'No to newco in the SPL', closely followed by the likes of Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee United, and others. Once it was clear (with Aberdeen's vote) that it was 'No to newco' in the SPL, not sure about anyone else, but here's what I was thinking: I was thinking that we were on the road to any newco Rangers firstly having to get themselves up and running and capable of carrying on, and secondly, applying for what would become a vacancy in SFL 3, taking their chances with Spartans, Cove, or anyone else who applied.
There was a mood of buoyancy amongst supporters. If newco Rangers got their shit together, applied for and got into Div 3, and came up through the divisions - fair enough. This is what ANY newco club applying for SFL membership would do. Just like Annan Athletic. Apply, get in, start off in Div 3, work your way up. It is clear that the rules do not apply though when we are talking about Rangers.... but, this isn't Rangers. This is far from the 'big' Rangers we knew - with a 50,000 crowd, a team of internationals, regular European jaunts, and a ton of trophies. This is a newco club with a handful of players turning up for training, and who knows what going on behind the scenes in regard to who Green's backers are. Are they remotely fit and proper? Is he just an asset-stripper, and how much has Craig Whyte still got to say about it? In regard to the dying club that would spawn the newco - there's still SFA sanctions to come, there's criminal investigations into their recent owners, and the SPL say they have a big case to answer in regard to illegal double contracts. Yet, the football authorities seem to be hell-bent on finding a way to make life easier for this 'newco' which hasn't even sprung yet from the disgraced ashes of the deeply corrupt and cheating corpse of what used to be Rangers FC? Disgusting isn't the word for it. It's beyond disgusting.
Now, in regard to the 'football authorities' who seem hell-bent on taking it up the arse for this 'newco' - here's my big confusion. Obviously while we were all being fed the 'NO' verdicts from Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs... and feeling that justice was being done, behind the scenes it was a different matter. Moves were afoot to create this monster of all cock-ups, with a new league structure dressed up as a major way forward for our game, but merely a device by which to 'save' this 'newco' from having to enter football at the bottom of the pack.... as they should, just like any new applicant. What I don't know is who knew. Who was in on it. Who was well aware of our 'No to newco in SPL' delight, while all the time they were cooking up this disgraceful attempt at a carve-up. Did SG know? Was SG instrumental in any of the talks to attempt this? Petrie at Hibs? Which SPL chairmen were in on it? Has Doncaster simply went off on one and went over the heads of most SPL chairmen? Who in the SFA and SFL was/is 'in on this little game'? Where should the finger be pointed?
Div has said it was news to the 10000hours team, yet two of the team are directors of St Mirren FC, and the entire 10000hours team were locked in talks with the selling consortium last week - with the Rangers 'uncertainty' causing talks to be put on ice. IF 10000hours knew nothing about this carve-up going on behind the scenes, but SG and maybe others on the selling consortium did know it was going on - draw your own conclusions. The selling consortium want 1.5mil, 10000hours are offering what they can - but they could easily have concluded a deal..... blissfully unaware that the people selling the club to them were involved in a shoddy deal to completely piss off St Mirren supporters which (as we can see) has caused some to talk about cancelling CIC membership as a protest! I would have thought it was important SG told 10000hours about any possible 'Newco straight to a new Div 1' scheme during those talks - if he's looking for 1.5million from them.... which in no small part comes from us.
Something stinks - big time. This was already a farce on Feb 14 when Rangers went into administration and made ZERO compulsory redundancies. Months and months later, it is beyond a farce, it is an absolute disgrace. I have no idea who knew what about whom, and who was talking to who behind closed doors - but in my opinion, Doncaster, Regan, Ogilvie and Longmuir are clearly not fit for purpose. Doncaster in particular is a walking disaster. No wonder Norwich City are better off with him plying his trade 500 miles up the road in a corrupt banana republic organisation like the Scottish SPL.
Beyond those individuals though, and especially in our boardroom. Tell us what the hell is going on. Absolute farce from beginning to end!

Agree totally with this.
The other point I'd make is that it's oft suggested that the SPL clubs would let the Currant Buns back in with changes to the voting system, prize money distributions etc. The question has to be - what do people expect would happen if they were told where to go and it was Dundee or Dunfermline taking their place? Suddenly 11-1 votes to change things, things such as the above, as desired by the 'diddy clubs' look a lot more likely do they not? By the time the Blue Bigots got their way back up to the top flight, they could find it a very different SPL indeed. That's why I'm convinced their Green cousins will vote to keep them - the other 11 would rightly shaft them as well.

I hear you Gary but this is a club who have been trying to leave Scottish Football for England not giving a f**k about the rest of us.
I say f**kem.
Who cares if we have to half our playing budget as a result. I'd rather we were relegated in 2 consecutive seasons as a result than let them back in.
All clubs would need to cut their wage bill accordingly so it wouldn't be that bad, it would just be as even a playing field as it is right now but with a slightly poorer standard.
This could actually make a 16 team league more likely outcome also.
f**kem.

Nope. Not interested at this point. As Div states in the post above I will get involved once 10000 Hours effectiveness is proven. I have always been of the view that membership should go up rather than down. I am now opting to support the wait and see fans following the shameful attempts to scare them into signing up. The club will be stronger with more members. I think my "skills" are best served monitoring progress from the outside and defending the cautious fans from the bullying tactics af dafties like Tedious Tom, LS and Reynard. All fans are important to SMFC. And the bottom line is SMFC is still the reason for us being fans. I will be of more value outside the CIC at this point. However, I will be seeking to recruit more fans by keeping it real and presenting fans with reality rather than spin. That is what is required to convert the remaining fans. They require detail, they require evidence, they effectively require proof of concept before they will buy into the CIC. That should be respected and supported. SMFC is a broad church made up of many personalities. The CIC should leave no fan behind.

Having given it no end of considered thought, I've finally decided to join 10k Hours again. I have concerns about it yes, and the bid may still fail clearly, but the end thoughts have been what do I want to happen, and that if there's anything I don't like, they could and should be changed and I reserve the right to shout my mouth off about it if not. I know plenty of people on here do and will take an alternative view and have no problem with that at all. Ultimately I'm something of a naive optimist and what will be will be.

Totally agree JT. While I've come up with a decision today, it really wasn't easy and wouldn't for a minute look to force it on anyone else's. Some people will come to this early, some late and some not at all. We all have the best interests of the club at heart though and will get involved with how it's run at a level we feel comfortable with.

I think we do need to seriously condsider SG's statement about selling the club if the CIC fails. The deadline is pretty much forcing us to make a decision one way or another. I'm not happy with that, but the bottom line is that it is decision time. What is important is that fans respect each others decisions no matter what. I am not happy about the posts being made trying to force fans down the "if you don't pay the CIC we're doomed route". Its one of the key reasons I won't be signing up. Fans need to respect each others decisions.

I don't want a ha'penny back. Securing the future of the club with a strong fan-ownership element would be more than enough by way of a return for my minor investment.
This isn't really about the money any longer. I appreciate that this sounds daft, but bear with me. Previously, I was weighing up whether this seemed like a reasonable expense to incur in chastened times. I've moved beyond that analysis now, though. These is a point of principle here. If I don't sign up for this, and the club succumbs to a fate that all of us dread, then can I reconcile myself to not having done my bit to at least try and show some tangible, demonstrable support? This now outweighs the financial consideration.
Strangely enough, if the newco are afforded passage back into the SPL, then I won't be back, yet I still want to support the CiC, because I think this is the right thing to do. I can't legislate for how Mr Gilmour will vote when the time comes, but the very concept behind the CiC model is that we can legislate for what happens to the club (at least to some extent). When I think of it this way, signing up to the CiC makes perfect sense.
I'd hoped the consortium might afford a bit of wriggle room in termso f the deadline, and I believe they might given the recent momentum in terms of people signing up. Perhaps the dealine has served a purpose in terms of focussin minds and galvanising support for the bid. If nothing else, they now know that a growing number of people are willing to commit to this.
I think we'll struggle to get this over the line, but it won't be for the want of trying, and I'm glad I've signed up for this, whatever the final outcome.
