  1. After some Saints fans visiting Mechelen in 2012, the 25th Anniversary of our Cup Winners Cup games, there are 22 Mechelen boys coming over to Paisley for the Aberdeen game on the 10 January.

They will be in the Court Bar St James Street from about 1pm and after the game too. It would be great if as many as St Mirren fans as possible could pop by and join them for a drink or two and maybe make a wee night of it.

We have asked the club if they could mark the occasion too and at the moment we are just waiting to hear back from them.

The attachment shows a St Mirren scarf displayed in the Mechelen Supporters Bar

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I wouldn't want to sell my shares for sentimental reasons but I'd be happy to proxy my voting rights to SMISA, would that just be a case of sending a letter with my share ID numbers?

If you can send me a PM, I'll keep your details on record and if we need your proxy at a later date we will get in touch.

    Much appreciated

  3. SMiSA increase shareholding in St.Mirren

When SMISA, The St.Mirren Supporters Trust was set up, one of its main objectives was to establish a shareholding in St. Mirren F.C Ltd to create a valid voice for the fans in the running of the club. For the purpose of purchasing shares members subscribed £10 per month.

Trusts have been particularly effective at other clubs which have embraced the involvement of fans in the board room. Dundee United for example have a full director and an associate director who have been appointed through the Arab Trust.

Regrettably, this is not the case at Saints and while in its early years SMISA was able to purchase 3877 shares from the club funded by its members subscriptions, in recent years, the club have refused numerous requests from SMISA to buy more shares. As a result SMISA had to stop accepting funds from its members for share purchase and subscriptions were reduced to £2 per month. By that time, SMISA had accumulated £50K in cash and the SMISA Board decided to use its cash to purchase shares from private shareholders. This was done with extreme reluctance as obviously the money would go to individuals rather than the club.

The first wave of share purchases has been successfully completed and SMISA now owns in excess of 5000 shares. Wave 2 is now under way and the SMISA Board is very optimistic that a further substantial increase in our shareholding will be achieved soon.

If you are a shareholder interested in selling your shares, please contact us. The constitution of the trust does not allow SMISA to sell shares so you can be assured that your shares will be held in perpetuity by a trust of Saints fans with a democratically elected board.

Meantime with the current long running uncertainty over the future ownership of our club, it has never been more important to have a strong representative trust. Our ranks are growing but please don't leave it to others. Join us now and add your opinions and your voice as a Saints Fan.

  4. If an individual came along and wanted to invest £250k in the club by purchasing unisssued shares, would the consortium/ board bite their hand off or knock it back as it would dilute the 52%.

An option of course would be for the Douglas Street to match the purchase.

Just all in theory of course, who would invest that sort of money in St Mirren ?

  5. Calling all St Mirren fans...your Supporters' Trust Needs You!

As the potential club sale drags on and on, big question marks remain over the future direction of St Mirren FC.

That's why it has never been more important for there to be a strong voice to represent you, the fans, to any current or future owner of the club.

SMISA is already the largest grouping of St Mirren fans but we need more members to realise our ultimate aim of meaningful supporter involvement in the running of the club.

You could sign up to be a member of the trust for just £2 per month. Want to know more about the benefits?

For two or so years now SMiSA, The St.Mirren Supporters Trust, has been on the face of it relatively quiet and has not been in a position to pursue its aims and purpose as vigorously as we would all have liked. Although situations out with our control such as the inability to purchase unissued shares in St.Mirren thus restricting our investment in the club and the focus of all connected with the club on the unsuccessful bid for community ownership, SMiSA has still continued with ongoing Youth Development sponsorship, organised various events for the fans and general financial support for the club, such as providing the bulk of the funding for the dome.

Having since reorganised the committee and with the willingness of some individual members to get involved has provided us with a new impetus to get our targets back on track.

The changing face of football finances and the seemingly out of control ownership issues of football clubs generally provided the realisation that sitting on a large sum of money that was going nowhere coupled with the needs or the desire of the consortium to sell their majority shareholding to a single owner would diminish our long held belief of any independent supporter representation on the board of St.Mirren, where ultimately the potential future of our club could end up in the hands of any individual who may have no concern or moral obligation to St.Mirren, it’s fans or the community it represents, but perhaps they may only be interested in the club as a personal trophy or even just the value of the assets of the club !

You may consider this unlikely based on the current circumstances at St.Mirren but some fans of other Scottish clubs also thought the same when their clubs handed over the majority shareholding to seemingly credible individuals such as Brooks Mileson, Craig Whyte, Angelo Massone, or Vladimir Romanov.

It is becoming more prevalent for the stability and long term future of clubs for the decision makers and the custodians of the club to be made up of people who have a lifelong affiliation with it.

    That’ll be you !

To ensure St.Mirren remains in the hands of its supporters for the next 137 years as it has done for the past 137, it needs the fans of today to be willing to contribute to the development of the club and be a part of a consolidated voice of the vast majority and for the club to grow and thrive from that base of enthusiasm and involvement.

The St.Mirren Supporters Trust intend for this group representation to be realised in a number of ways……

To increase the trust membership to include every fan who has an association with St.Mirren.

To increase the trust shareholding in St.Mirren through ongoing private share purchase.

To gain backing and involvement from all local political and business partners within Renfrewshire.

To use the experience and government backed involvement of Supporters Direct.

If you are part of any of the above groups we would love to hear from you but most of all we need you to join the Trust and become a member of SMiSA

For as little as £2 per month you will be playing your part in helping to ensure all fans have a strong collective representation in St.Mirren, allow ongoing sponsorship and positive results of the Youth Development facility at Ralston and ensure the continuation of supporter related events.

SMiSA, The St.Mirren Supporters Trust is a registered I.P.S. which includes legal and binding rules such as one person one vote.

  6. Just a reminder that this event is on Thursday at 7pm.

Let's get along and support this event. All donations go towards the Youth Development.

See it as an opportunity to clear the air with the Management Team and possibly the Chairman who may be in attendance.

Like everyone else I'm extremely disappointed in what has been served up this season, and it would seem that we have failed to learn any lessons from previous seasons.

Something needs to kick start our season - and perhaps the catalyst to this could be this meeting.

SMiSA held a similar Q&A after a run of 6 poor results in 2012 under Lennon. The Saturday following this meeting I believe we got a draw and a few months later we won the League Cup.

Very few clubs enter into such a dialogue with the fans - let's seize the opportunity and support Youth Development.

Well done SMiSA for organising this.

It has been confirmed by the Club that Chairman Stewart Gilmour will be on the Top Table along with Tommy Craig, Jim Goodwin and Gary Teale.

  7. Since the start of 2014, membership of SMiSA, the St.Mirren Supporters Trust, has been increasing at the rate of approximately 5 to 6 people per month. This increase, along with the members who have been in the Trust for several years is allowing us to become more active in our various aims and initiatives, such as recently becoming the main sponsor of St.Mirren Youth Development Academy, the only five star rated set-up in Scotland.
We aim to continue to grow our membership and therefore our development and our projects because the more the Supporters Trust membership increases the more we are able to represent and provide for the supporters and for St.Mirren.
Therefore we are appealing to all our current members to encourage their friends and relatives to also sign up and join the Supporters Trust and maintain the impetus and outcomes of this years' recruitment drive.
As well as individual supporters becoming members we also want to encourage businesses, or rather the business owners to become members of SMiSA. As a business partner there are no special increased fees or expectations and all that any business would do is to become a member of SMiSA at the minimum normal rate of £2 per month and display a small poster on their premises acknowledging their association with The Supporters Trust, and likewise SMiSA will promote the business permanently on our website and include a direct link to the their website, as well as on events or promotion literature.
Although this concept is a recent initiative the principle is also available to any current members who may wish to promote their own business and SMiSA, through mutual advertising and promotion.
This sign up can be undertaken directly through our website or by contacting us using any of the means listed

Thank you for your continued support and active involvement with the Supporters Trust

  8. Thursday 4 September is when you will have the opportunity to meet and discuss the clubs plans for the season ahead with the new management team for the first time at a Q & A evening at the stadium with kick off at 7:00 pm.

The success of the previous and well attended events has ensured this one, shortly after the transfer window closes, will allow every St.Mirren supporter to put forward their questions and comments to manager Tommy Craig and his first team coaches Jim Goodwin and Gary Teale as we venture into the new season.

This is a real opportunity not afforded at other clubs, for you to engage with the people at the sharp end of our club, therefore we strongly recommend you don't miss out on what will surely be an informative and enjoyable evening.

As with all SMiSA events the ethos is one of inclusion and affordability for all, therefore there will be no entry fee with only a bucket (fortunately without a big hole in it) where if you choose you can make a donation which will go directly to the clubs increasingly successful Youth Development Academy at Ralston

    See you there

  9. The SMiSA AGM takes place this Saturday 1st March at 12.30pm at Fantoosh (Kilty Kilty), 16 New Street, Paisley PA1 1XY.

This is of course prior to Kilmarnock home game. It would be great to see as many members getting along and don't forget you are more than welcome to bring a guest with you.

If you can't make it please don't forget to return your voting forms that were posted out last week.

  10. Hello Millport, the spelling in the Monday 16th article needs to be corrected.

Paragraph 1: "a serious of challenges" should be "series"

Para 2: "we all have to as one" should be "we all have to act as one"

    thanks bangin.gif

  11. Sweet Jesus in a jump suit!!!

    £10 a month for membership?

what sort of membership figures do you have?

The jags trust is £10 a year if i remember correctly and sits at about 500 members, but is falling rapidly due to them being completely ineffectful, poor communicators and spineless at a Club AGM!

The suggested monthly subscription is now only £2.00 but anyone wishing to pay more can decide where the money goes, for example Youth Development.

I will have a look at the website and get it updated for the subscriptions.

We currently have 3877 shares in the football club.

  12. so pretty much the same as on this forum, no updates since 2011? nothing to report but there is an update soon

How often do you hold society board meetings? when necessary

are the minutes available, or are they for members only? members only, on request

are there only 4 of you on the board? no , sitting at 8 at the moment

    Cheers

    dave

    thanks

  13. With the announcement that the directors are hoping to sell up is there an opportunity for smisa to purchase some of the shares? obviously smisa are not in a position to buy the full 98000, but i understand for a while smisa have been looking to increase their stake in the club.

When we have approached the board in the past few years we were told that the could not determine a share price.

This has now obviously changed but as said above the new buyer had to buy the whole 52%.

SMiSA is not in a position to do this, although, as all supporters will be doing, we will be watching the situation very closely.
