I Know Keith Jackson's An Arse , But .......................

That's all I heard them saying too. -
Motherwell V St Mirren Spfl Premiership 9/8/13

Someone on the official site saying that he's seen the incident on SKY goals on Sunday, with close ups and freeze frames, and that he's surprised it wasn't a straight red. Must be from a different angle, as Alba's pics show nothing of note happening. -

Yaay! One game played and the conspiracy theories have started already. FWIW an friend of mine speaks quite regularly to Thommo and he hasn't mentioned any rumblings of discontent within the club. -

That's exactly what happens. I've watched the TV footage of the incident frame by frame. At no point does Goodwin get his arms in a position to elbow Sutton, as his arms are always facing forward or outstretched. Other than minimal pressure on Sutton's back by Goodwin, I can't see anything sinister about the challenge at all. You could maybe argue that Goodwin nudges Sutton in the back, but if you're going to penalise defenders for that every time an aerial challenge occurs, then football has had it's day. Sutton doesn't even go down clutching his back, which you would expect if someone has jabbed their elbow into your back. Anyone still criticising Godwin's actions for this incident really needs to go and watch the footage. There is no wild swipe or blatant shove and for him to be sent off for this "booking" is a major error on the part of the officials. -
There wasn't any foul, as has already been pointed out and TV pictures back this up. The officials f**ked up badly.

Ferguslie won by three wickets, after chasing down a total of 121 by Kelburne. Ferguslie now top of the league. And a big well done to an excellent bowling effort by England in their thrashing of India.
-
To be fair, they have done in the past. However, in this case I feel that either TC or Gary Teale should make it clear to the media that the decision was wrong and that TV evidence backs this up. A comment about officials and players being "out to get" Goodwin wouldn't go amiss either.

Never a foul, never mind a booking, in a million years. Sutton wasn't even claiming anything. Wonder if the TV will highlight it, now that it's been proven to have no substance to it.

Good. I'm happy to be proved wrong about Goodwin's actions today and humble pie duly consumed by myself. Goodwin is innocent! -
Wouldn't that be "absolute pollocks"?

McGowan was on less than that a week and was the best deal we'd offered a player, prior to McLean. Maybe your info was from from a slightly envious ex-player possibly out to shit stir?
-
Why? IMO Kelly was suspect at defending last season, particularly in not picking up runners off the ball. Tesselaar was great today and I felt a lot more confident with him at left back. FWIW I think Kelly could easily play left side of midfield.
-
Can't argue with that.

It's not a witch hunt. You're Jim Goodwin, you're on a booking, so you decide to mouth off at the referee. What's not idiotic about that? I've defended Goodwin to the hilt in the past. Today,I'm just scunnered by his actions. -

How John McGinn didn't get booked today is a miracle. Maybe the ref thought he was Keith Lasley.............................. However, Goodwin's first tackle was reckless. Would a 'Well player have been booked for it? I'm not convinced. What is f**king idiotic, on Goodwin's part, is thinking he could talk back to the referee. He should know by now he's a marked man due, in some part, to his own actions. Rightly or wrongly, he's got to factor this into his game. I thought he played well today. We also have to add the fact that Callum Murray is a complete cúnt of the highest order. I thought both Ellis Plummer and Tess oozed class today and that McAusland played well too. Marwood showed up in patches and so did Wylde. However if he could only learn to put in a decent cross into the box on a consistent basis. However, onto my biggest bugbear, after Goodwin's dissent. I lost count (I ran out of fingers) how many times Marwood, McGinn and McLean got themselves into great shooting positions then inexplicably decided to pass. On the one occasion that 'Well got clear shot at goal the player blootered it, Kello parried it out (when he should probably should have pushed it out wide) and the striker followed up to rifle it home. Maybe, if we hadn't been so shot shy, then we might have benefited from it. Thought there were a couple of possible penalty calls with McLean being barged from the back and a handball. Not as disastrous as some would have us believe, but there is still a certain sense of inevitability about the way we play and what the end result will be. -

Goodwin getting sent off didn't help, but we were our own worst enemy in front of goal. Plummer and Tess were both excellent. Marwood and. Wylde were good in patches. Not a disaster, but we do need at least another couple of players. -
I see that Ed the buffoon is making sure that ruling out a currency union is going into the next labour party manifesto. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scottish-independence/11021552/Scottish-currency-union-ruled-out-in-Labour-manifesto-if-Yes-vote.html Maybe he could see fit to include details what extra powers he's going to give the Scottish government in the event of a "No" vote, since Alistair Darling, didn't seem to be able to provide any coherent answers on that front, whilst he was foaming at the mouth during the week.

The Eve Of The Start Of The Tommy Revolution

Let's hope everything clicks into place quickly. Still have concerns with a couple of areas of the team, but I'm relatively positive about the overall situation. -
That's a pity. There was a fair bit of effort put in to try and get this through.

Indeed. First (Kelburne) versus second. Could have a major bearing on who wins the league. Looks like a rain free Saturday, so should be a good game. I won't see it from Motherwell though...................................
