  1. Stevie May has not been great at the U21s IMV however he has only just got the Championship. Ross '£11m' McCormack didn't even make the squad!
  2. How much is truly Scottish or simply based here? I'd suspect the majority of RBS isn't here. Indeed Iceland's experience is that a reduction in financial services can be a good thing, not that I'm advocating Iceland as a great experience.
  3. Yep, very common if you are near the border in Ireland to roam onto a stronger Irish signal. Changing the Country Code seems unlikely for telephone operators. I think they'll be content for the +44 code to continue and it to be a similar situation to US and Canada sharing +1
  4. Some operators include IOM (or at least did out of minutes) others don't. However it would be a technical challenge to start charging based on England and Scotland. IOM is simple, it has 1 dialling code (01624) and 3 mobile number ranges (07 then a 5/6/9 then 24). So the operators know if it is an IOM number. However current mobile numbers in the UK were given to mobile operators in banks. For example the next number to your own could be some one in London, the next someone in Inverness and so on. It would be difficult for the operator to start charging beyond if they simply looked at what mast they were on. That would cause so many issues....
  5. Gotta admit, I might have switched over to Liverpool v Man City at points, but watched most of it. Salmond won it, crushed Darling at the start and was prepared on the currency answer which left Darling flustered. The middle cross examining was too shouty so got bored of that. Don't think we learned much new and not sure it will impact on the polls.
  6. No experience? Kello, Goodwin, McAusland, Tesselaar, McGinn, McLean, Thompson, Wylde. All played today. How many games have they played at this level? There is enough experience in that squad, we just need to get the ball in the net. We should have comfortably beaten Motherwell and Dundee and have 6 points, instead we have 0 and two home defeats.
  7. You having a laugh? Harkins was exactly like he was when he was with us, woeful and Goodwin bullied him. No wonder he was hooked and Dundee improved after that. As for us, unacceptable. Not the hardest fixtures, 2 home, 1 away and we've lost 3, scored 0. Just awful and it has left us with a mountain to climb. The only saving grace is unlikely last year when we were getting well beaten, there is a good team in there. If the goals come we have a chance, but the pressure is really on Tommy now. He has to get this right, very quickly and we need to start playing as a unit - not as individuals and taking a shot every know and again instead of passing it to oblivion. McLean to practice corners would help too!
  8. Not exactly the best example as Hong Kong didn't gain independence but instead of being British it is now Chinese. It would probably have been far better independent like Singapore. They are most certainly right to be upset about some of the changes being forced on them.
  9. Nah there is a direct bus service that goes from Glasgow to Greenock and Gourock then across on the (non-subsidised) car ferry to Dunoon. Whilst I understand it might be nice to have a direct ferry service from train to Dunoon is it worth millions for new ferries?
  10. I'm still on the fence. A 'No' vote to me means that I am happy with the union and the way the UK is going. That I certainly am not- both in governance and the economy is far too 'London Centric'. However there are enough things on the Yes side to make me uneasy about the future too. In any instance even if Scotland votes no, I feel with 'more powers' we'll see an increasingly federal UK which will I think see independence by stealth.
  11. It seems quite a lot of money for a passenger ferry service to be honest. Does Dunoon really warrant it when there is an existing bus service from Gourock Station to Dunoon Town Centre?
  12. Aye, with the benefit of hindsight. If Tan had said it was his conduct, fair play, but it was performance, and overspending on a transfer etc. I doubt Cardiff fans would have supported Mackay if this had been known either. Tan has got to the right call, by the wrong reasons. Doesn't make him any less of a numpty and I still had a good chuckle when they went down too.
  13. Private 787 Dreamliner from Abu Dhabi apparently on the way to Glasgow Airport. This our new owners arriving?
  14. I'd watch any football if I have a chance and I have. A good game is entertaining no matter the level, the country or the money involved. La Liga can be dull if Barca are turning over a smaller team. Obviously Scottish football is what I see a lot of. It isn't in great shape, but it can be entertaining and teams can play out some good games. There is a lot of poor games in there too and there is an argument it's over-priced. However compared to other European leagues it isn't so bad. It doesn't match the top leagues, but few do If the English Premiership is over-rated, it is nothing to the Championship. The sums of money for some very average players is unbelievable and some of the games are worse than an SPL match.
  15. Aye it was a Shopsmart. Shame to hear families losing all their stuff in the flats above.
  16. It was why I was so annoyed with Goodwin on Saturday as we need our experienced heads. Without the man to break up play, we were well beaten and I believe had JG been on the pitch we'd have stopped Accies first.
  17. The problem is the countries it let in. A currency union involving Benelux / Germany / Scandinavia would probably work- fairly equal standing and economic base. Adding weaker Mediterranean and perhaps the Eastern European countries was the madness. Germany and others are being dragged down by these economies. A UK currency union would easily work and wouldn't be as unequal or unwieldy as the Euro. I only see it as a stop gap in the event of a yes. I think it would end up moving to a Scottish currency.
  18. The problem was he came out 2nd half, made a mistake, crowd got on his back, made another couple of mistakes which led to the 2nd goal and he never recovered. I thought 2nd half he was very like John Potter in the latter part of his Saints career with the clearances and headers.
  19. The first goal is one that Goodwin would be in a position to stop. We were wide open in the centre, Brown trying to chase back- defenders keeping the line, the Accies boy just ran, and ran and ran.
  20. Very disappointed with the performance, the difference from Fir Park was incredible. Could go into detail, but it is late. Needless to say, concerned about the experience and squad depth. Goal threat looks non-existent, 2 games and we're the only team in the league to have failed to notch a goal and we didn't look likely tonight. On the up side might worry Teale and Tommy enough to look at the issues.
  21. Well W6 had fans giving him pelters before the goal, which he clearly heard. Indeed there was an argument between a couple of fans about him.
  22. Errm, should McCoist not have sent another player / midfielder over to cover instead of sending the substitute to the furthest corner of the pitch? McCoist is just a poor manager.
  23. Is there not a retrospective ban for punch to Steve Jennings too? The game he scored a cracker- season 2011/12?
  24. If you go into the town centre any night of the week, there are kids just hanging about the war memorial / High Street. God knows why and to be honest I don't think my parents would have let me hang about the Town Centre at 10pm on a schoolday- I'd have got a shoeing. To be honest a lot of music contains the racist language some kids use, so I guess they get it from that culture
  25. The difference was Shuggie wasn't prone to bad tackles, just persistent niggly fouls. He was similar to Keith Lasley actually. When Shuggie got booked he cooled it and was rarely sent off (from memory anyway). He certainly never courted the publicity by being banned for forearm smashes etc.
